Without Run Dmc hip hop would not be where it is today
@antwanwilliamsAkrimoneyAkiApac
Finally someone who knows the true facts. Rap was redundant and there was a lot of corny rappers, and rap groups coming out after the GMF and the Furious Five, Curtis Blow, Sugar Hill Gang..etc, era. When Run DMC dropped it was the beginning of a new era and they kicked the door wide open. Without them there would be none of the other Queens rappers. So we MUST! give them their respect and their top spot on this list. They were the first rap group that made albums where you could push play from the beginning and let it ride to the end...FACTZ!!!!

There are too many impactful songs that came outta NY so to say Shook Ones is the most impactful is a long stretch. There's just too many from different eras that made even more of an impact. Here's just a few that got much airtime and longevity...Rappers Delight, The Message, tHE bREAKS, Roxanne Roxanne, Walk This Way, La Di Da Di, Children's Story, Fight the Power, Paid in Full, It Takes Two...and so on. There's just too many to single out one.

But it doesn't have the lasting power and impact of stuff that was coming out up until the 90s. For me its around 2005 ish that the cutoff happened.
