I understand the need to produce short form content but your points are easily solved with accessories. And EF mount is still here to stay! The variety of EF lens option is still being produced!
Your are correct! What I meant is I think a lot of people buying this camera think it will be a cheaper FX3 etc but it’s not. It’s a true cinema camera and a great one at that! You just have to know that’s what you want. Where I think most people should start out with a more videography based camera such as Sony, Canon etc..
1. Buy a v mount battery. 2. Get side handles or a top handle. 3. Adapters are a thing. You don’t need canon lenses. Many options at the EF level. 4. Picture quality and what you can do with this camera that is valued at 2500 matches cameras at over 3 times that cost margin imo.
@@AmillionCoV-mount it is a huge battery which helps to power up electronic external follow focus, external monitor, light and other devices on your camera rig You should agree that easier to use one battery for whole setup than switch every time camera/monitor/focus/light batteries
@@JukeboxWithJay fancy new lens and everyone goes and buys vintage lens anyways In the future everyone is going to try to adopt EF lens the way they do with FDs and FL
Most cinema cameras drain alot of batteries, if thats a con then the camera isn't for you. Ef is still a great mount. Rf isn't all that. Most lens that you want to use for video are in ef or pl mount.
I don’t see EF mount lenses going away any time soon. And the best part about EF lenses is that you can put them on pretty much any camera! So in that sense, they’re the best lenses to buy! If you’re expecting to switch to a different platform in the future, most likely Sony, a good option would be to buy Sigma lenses. Using the MC-11 adapter with the compatible sigma lenses will give your EF glass native level autofocus. This is a pretty easy one as most people slap a sigma 18-35 on this thing and almost never swap it. Another option is to focus on buying cinema lenses. These won’t have autofocus anyway and so having somewhat expensive ef cinema glass that you can put on any camera is never gonna be a bad investment. Unless you’re ultra serious and using PL mount lol. It’s a lot easier to find prime lenses, such as cinema lenses, that will be effective for both full frame and crop as well. Finally, if you’re gonna buy this camera, you’re gonna learn how to manually focus. So you just might decide that you’re not too bothered by the idea of adapting any of the lenses to any camera and just manually focusing. So all that to say, EF is probably the glass I’m MOST comfortable in investing in.
Seriously bro, everything you're pointing out is soooo trivial. Everyone I know who has a BMPCC of any variety (including myself), has a rig that solves these issues.
Bro, you’re not wrong. That being said I think I lot of RU-vidrs portray this as being the “best camera ever” then someone who only needs a basic mirrorless camera ends up buying this and regretting it. If you know how to use the BMPCC it’s a BEAST!
@@ZackTrunzo I think I can imagine where you're coming. That being said if someone who needs a DLSR gets a Cinema camera, that feels like a separate issue. Almost any content I can think of talking about the BMPCC is about creating video content. DLSRs can certainly do that to an extent, but comparatively definitely fall short.
Totally agree. I just think in the age of RU-vid and being the next best camera every week consumers can get confused at times. Regardless love all things BM and honestly all brands. Just have to use the right camera for the job. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😃
If you’re looking for a plug-and-play solution, then I would agree that this is not the camera for you. BMPCCs need to be rigged but some people don’t mind that. It’s still a very good camera though. Also, EF is still way too popular for it to be an issue.
1) V mount battery 2) camera support rig 3) EF prime lenses, metabones adapters if not 4) it’s an entry level cinema camera that has a few pro features. You can earn your money back within a month
I agree! Honestly my biggest frustration is it doesn’t balance well on my original Ronin S without counter weights. If I had a RS 3 Pro I feel like it has the bit extra room I need. It’s a great cam overall and Braw is amazing!
Ef can be adapted to a wide range of camera bodies giving you the freedom of switching brands without having to sell all your glass so I disagree on that point.
Valid point! I just worry about them stopping affordable EF lens production but I think with third party brands we should be fine for a while since the EF mount is so adaptable.
But if they went with something like E mount, you have a huge array of native lenses and can also adapt EF, F and PL lenses. EF mounts limits you to just EF lenses and maybe PL
@@Wildridefilmsalso there are cheaper mirrorless lenses options from Sirui, 7artisans, meike, etc. I know they’re cheap and “bad” quality, at least it’s affordable and an option
@THE OMEN It’s all preference about what you prefer best. If you have the opportunity I would say test both out. Z-Cam has a bit better body style but Blackmagic BRAW is amazing.
Yeah, they've gone with a pretty bulky camera anyways, and have failed to use a more substantial battery. And agree with the EF mount problem. The MFT mount was so much more versatile on the bmpcc4k. If they went with E mount instead, it would've been great.
All that being said, this camera isn’t for RU-vid content. It has a very robust BRAW that pairs to DaVinci Resolve in ways most cannot comprehend, that’s where the power lies. It also balances, with its cage, on my Crane 2S with ease. If you need point and shoot, go get a Sony handheld. Hell, try buying an F55, an FX6 even, and see how far you get without rigging it.
Honestly never use the batteries v locks all the way the issue with the lens mount got me was a posative as I was using a canon before, I also am not a fan of the form factor but I use it in a way that's not an issue. I love built in nds the image quality and ease of use, when I give it to students or people new to cameras.
95% of people using this camera will use external batteries (v mount, gold mount, or NPF), the form factor is only a problem when you mount it on a stabilizer (but they sell weights to counteract the form factor), and EF mount is still a great investment for the majority of people that are using this camera because EF lenses are affordable, there is a lot of them, and they are well priced (used)
Totally Disagree!!! I bought this camera few months ago and let me kill your arguments. 1.- Battery Life: I got the original battery pack, so I can use 3 batteries and the same time. Do your math! 2.- "Form Factor": First of all, is weird call Form Factor instead the right word: Design. Filmmakers don't buy design, we buy quality, capacities and possibilities. I'm sure that you never going to buy a Red Monstro camera because have a "weird design". 3.- Lens Mount: This was the MAIN reason to buy this camera, because I has been using Canon lenses for the last 25 years. With this camera I don't have the need to buy any adapters. Conclusion: If you can't buy the $130 Original Battery Pack for this camera and want to use just one and make a video in RU-vid to talk trash about it, you don't deserve own it.
Everything that you are mention has an easy resolution that is very much worth your time and investment. EF mounts are great and so is this incredible camera. There are plenty of educational video resources out there that will help you build an incredible rig on a budget. Also, You gotta get a rig if you want to take yourself seriously.
Bla bla bla, 1) This is not a camera for wedding shooters))) its a cinema camera. 2) Normal people use a v-mount batteries for power camera 3) Ef mount is the most flexible mount, and yes if you used Sony cameras you can't use it))) cinema camera's have PL or EF mount's, the same cine lenses. 4) Form factor weird only if you need a gimbals for it. But, dji ronin rs2, rs3 pro, znyiun and overs gimbals can work with it)) this formfactor gives you more comfort in handheld shooting. And you forgot: it's doesn't have autofocus)))))
If I listened to these reasons when I bought my OG BMPCC I wouldn't have made my first feature with it, also wouldn't have won a cinematography award with it, nor would I have learned how to use light for a shot or use my surroundings to my best ability to enhance the story or film with good timing and efficiency. Cinema cameras teach you what you need to learn about filmmaking.
According to brothers logic there’s reason to not buy anything. Everything cost money, most brands have proprietary equipment, Every brand cost money. Shoot with what u can afford and focus on story , plot and character and you’ll be fine friends. Happy creating! Cheers!
I've had lots of old Canon Glass, so for me was gain. But I really hate the form factor. Terrible camera to hold. But well in other aspects is a awesome camera.
Bro there’s like 4 or 5 ways to power the camera, including a cheap USB-C external power. You can use 3 different storage formats as well including SSD (what other vendor lets you do that :) Gyro Stab, Free DavinCi software, BRAW, built in NDs, the list goes on and on for reasons to buy. But yeah EF lenses are cheap now too…
It’s like these kids are dropped from Outer space. You wouldn’t recommend it for what reason because it’s not appointing shoot camera if you want to point and shoot camera go buy a point and shoot camera. For what this thing can do for the price is never heard of filmmaking ever in the world until today. It is an absolute blessing, it used to be you got a movie camera and you made it work. If you had the tape of battery to tape the battery to it, it was a blessing just to get the image these kids from Outer space they want a camera that’s out the box it does everything no camera does everything and Ari Alexa doesn’t do everything, there’s heartache with every camera you have to struggle with your instrument you have to make it work for you. This is in the arts if you’re guitar player and you don’t have to get the best guitar in the world you have to make it sound the best you can if you’re a drummer, you have to make your drum set sound the best you can. And in this struggle you come up with your unique signature water babies take a bath click bait also take this video down I’ll give you 1 million reasons why not to do anything go back to bed life is too difficult.
I have three, they're all rigged out for production and I love them. They make me bank. I have a separate camera for run of the mill things like content creation. If you're buying a cinema camera of any kind, it's kind of a rule of thumb that you're going to have to rig it out to get the best use from it. Cinema cameras aren't plug and play cameras. This felt like such bait. If it was, good job.
I know 0 beginner film makers who start with black magic cameras… so the comment in regards to “just starting on this platform” is kind of shallow and pointless. Most beginner shooters go with beginner cameras this isn’t one of them. These cameras are meant to be rigged out.
Oh man, I was looking into cheaper anamorphic lenses to slap onto the 6K pro and found some good ones for around $1,500 and thought it would look sick on the 6k… until I realized no anamorphic lens use EF Mount. And I don’t want to add lens adapters because I don’t know how it would affect the image of the anamorphic so it was a bit dissapointing to learn that limitation of the Mount. 3rd point is very true
It’s still a great camera as long as your ok with working with it’s limitations. That being said there are a lot of new EF anamorphic lenses starting to come out now.
Reason 1: fail. Reason 2: fail. Reason 3: fail. Know your needs and don't blame the gear. Not one reason was a good reason not to get this camera. This camera produces some of the best footage for it's price point if one knows how to light and shoot.
I think you missed the whole point of this camera. The image quality that you get for a fraction of the price of what you'd pay for one of the other cinema cameras is insane. If you're a one man band and you shoot mainly weddings or social media content, than this camera probably isn't for you.
No valid reasons cited. Buy a v-mount battery, EF lens options are abundant AF. Kit it out for stability, with a rail system, follow-focus etc. I have zero idea what you are you talking about. The image is stellar and the codec options are great. The 6K Pro also has internal NDs, which is huge. This camera is virtually impossible to beat at the current price point for what you get.
@@ZackTrunzo yea I agree vmount is great. The blackmagic npf's are nice to keep size down. But holding the whole rig in just hands can be heavy if you have a big lens and you're shooting for 3 hours.
I don’t think you really want to know what I think about this video. Pro tip: if you have nothing valuable to say, don’t say anything. And if you want to be a videographer/cinematographer, get used to accessories, as others have pointed out.
@@ZackTrunzo i totally agree that testing for what works for you is important. The stuff that you mention is simple specs that are available. I test a lot of equipment but I don't find myself surprised by basic stuff like this.
@LiveMyJourneyTom it’s not surprising per say as most all cinema camera need accessories. It’s more the fact that this takes shape of more of a mirrorless camera. Though you can use it without the other peace’s it’s much more functional rigged out.
