I'm going to use this channel to show that dogs are much happier when they've been properly trained. It's shocking to me how there are a lot of people who don't believe that a well trained dog is a happy dog. Or rather, an untrained dog won't have the tools to deal with a stressful situation/life. It's about helping the dog filter out unnecessary noise and not about having a dictatorship level of control over it. It's your job to make sure the dog is safe and accounted for and when it understands that, it will be a lot calmer and happier in general.

I've had 2 service dogs that were owner trained, my 2nd just retired due to health concerns. He is turning 6 this year and has discoid lupus, it can cause joint pain so I don't want him to be in pain while we work. I'm getting my next prospect soon! My dogs absolutely loved working, they worked at home and brought me their harnesses every morning because they wanted to leave the house and start working. Every time I gave them a command their tails wagged. They LOVED having a purpose, it was like a game to them! They would watch me constantly while we walked in public, awaiting commands. I actually hated when they looked at me 24/7 so I had to train them to look away. I have very bad PTSD and social phobia so I'd rather want them to pay attention to our surroundings so I don't accidentally walk into someone. I'm afraid of lifting my head in public because I fear that I will get hurt again, so I've bumped into a few things.. Luckily they started watching their surroundings more after I trained them to! They also got lots of naps while they were working, and before we went somewhere I would play with them to get their energy out. Before we got back into the car I would run around the sidewalk first.

You havent been paying attention. The dog does not live to do everything his owner says. Not even close. He does everything so that he can have his reward. Ball and playtime and/or treats. Thinking the dog does it because he "Absolutely LIVES" to do everything the owner says is just anthropomorphizing the animal.

"Now my perfect little 8lb floof and I sit at brunch and watch your videos" LOL. That's priceless! I have wanted a Malinois since I first discovered them. I like to rescue dogs tho and chances are slim, I would think, that a shelter would have one. But the dog gods had other plans for my husband and me. I passed a bewildered dog in Nov that was out in the middle of the salt flats near my home. It was dark and cold. I coaxed her out of the middle of the road with chicken wings. Did what I could to find her owners but I would have hesitated to give her back (if they wanted her) due to the shape she was in. They would have a lot of explaining to do. She's now found her forever home with us. She is spayed, clean, checked for heartworms (clear), shots and living her best life with our other rescue dog. Oh, she's a English Cream Goldendoodle! Far cry from a Malinois LOL, SUCH a couch potato! I'd still like to have a Malinois but like you, it would be irresponsible of me and super selfish.

I work with an ol farmer who used to work three or four dogs at a time on a station and he tried to explain most of this to me on our travels. Eight to nine commands per animal…voice/whistle. I didn’t quite get until right now. Amazing, just amazing
@Tomeccho
@Tomeccho Год назад
My Dad was like that. Had a team of anything from 4 to 6 dogs and a whistle that would make your ears ring. Multiple whistles for different things - move stock away, bring them in, go left, go right, bark, shut up, stand still, walk forward, run, settle down stir it up etc - and also changing the tone or urgency of the whistle subtly changed the command requirements. When he passed I inherited his last remaining working dog and she whelped not long after. We had no idea who the sire was but Dad was always meticulous with his breeding, even if he left no record, and the pups were all beaut dogs. I kept one bitch pup from the litter who was the spitting image of her mum and I named her after her drand-dam. I can't whistle like Dad could so my training and commands were different but that didn't stop Wendy from doing her thing at 200%. Eventually I found instead of casting Wendy out left or right with a subpar whistle and directing her actions like a puppetmaster, it easier to tell her to "look!" and she'd scan in a clockwise circle until she found something that was attention-worthy. A further "look!" command told her that wasn't the target or a "go on!" told her it was. Got to the point I didn't even have to say look! while doing routine work. She got to know at certain points and places that X needed rectifying or was going to happen and would sort it herself. It was like having a co-worker who was faster, more agile, less annoying and much more low maintenance than the average person. If only she learnt how to latch gates shut 🤣 Making her think more for herself instead of me directing her every action didn't stop her from being able to do silly shit like me giving her instruction and her following until she realised I was getting her to muster and bring in her own puppies 🤣 she used to get the goofyist look on her face when I trolled her like that. Cats, kittens, chickens, her own pups, even ducklings swimming in the dam lol turkeys, goats, pigs and horses 🤣 made her a really good hunting dog too. Get her to move goats or turkeys then "wait!" which was basically a drop n stay command and you could safely empty the banana clip of a 10.22 over her head and know she wasn't moving a muscle. She was the best, smartest, kindest dog I've owned and I dont think I'll ever have another like her. Even as I sit here with my 3 super smart and affectionate Mals, I still miss Wendy to this day. Truly one in a million.

German dude here: The direct translation of "Fuß" is foot. German dog owners usually use the "bei Fuß" command if they want their dog to follow close by. I guess the English equivalent would be the heel command. "Bei Fuß" would be pronounced like "buy fooz", but it's a long and kind of slow command so many Germans say "Fuß" really short and sharp like you do in this video. Take this as a German quality seal of approval ;) Have a great day! Excellent video btw!

I'm a dual purpose explosive detection dog handler/trainer (more handler than trainer) and I trained my K9 in Japanese (I am a fluent speaker of the language). Here in the States it works wonderfully as only about 0.2% of people in the US speak Japanese. That said, the possibility of my wife and I returning to live in Japan again always exists (though it's not likely), so the Japanese words that I used are random words that do not correspond to the action that my dog engages in. For example (these are not her actual command words): Using the Japanese word for "Night" as her sit command. Using the Japanese word for "Pass" as her down command. Using the Japanese word for "Religion" as her center command. For most important commands (Search/Find it and Bite) I have assigned random words in two word pairs so unless both words are used together in a distinct fashion, she will not take action. That way, her commands are hidden under a second and even third layer of language to prevent any native speakers from knowing or predicting her commands. Great video!

I was going to train my puppy in another language but I thought I’d be making it harder for myself. Only just a week in though so I’ll take your advice, I love how you train and your relationship with your dog. I want that with my Doberman!

This whole time I thought you had one Mali, nope just three identical ones lol love your energy and training style! Subscribed. Can’t wait for more content! Your luring video is “private”, is there another platform you have more content on? Keep up the amazing work!

You have some beautiful Mals there!!! I have a 2 year old male Mal...looks very much like your bigger male Mal. He gets plenty of daily exercise and I love training him. I think Mals are just as smart as Border Collies...maybe even a little smarter. I have a large backyard and he loves playing fetch and training there BUT...If I leave him out alone he gets himself into trouble digging holes , tearing down plants etc...Malinois are such beautiful dogs, so full of energy and so eager to please you and just so darn trainable and quick to learn. You can really see in your videos why they're so popular with the military and police forces. People need to understand you really need to engage these dogs mentally and physically on a daily basis...if you're not willing to do that, don't get a Malinois. You really need a large backyard for these dogs as well.

Your Videos encourages me to train my Malinois Xs pups. They learned to be house broken.for poop, their name and sit, plus waiting for permission to eat in 3 days. I didn't think there was anything else to teach them.but "Come". I watch your Videos and try to.make up for 10 months wasted. These Dogs are So Smart they want to learn. My one wasn't sitting properly at attention. I put her rear.legs where I wanted them 3 times and said sit like a nice girl esch time. Since then if occasionally she sits with her one leg under her all I have to say is sit like a nice girl. I'm.changing it to "attention". But it only 3 corrections they know what you want is amazing. Good Luck to Everyone with your Dog training.

I use hisses and ticks with my Shepkita. Seems to work pretty well as a verbal leash.

I'd really love to read a training book written by you. I personally learned mostly myself how to train my dogs and you inspired me in many ways.
