The top 3 skills are: System Analysis, Workflow Knowledge, and Project Management.
There might be more skills to learn but this is my opinion from my own experience.

As a nurse looking to switch over to an EPIC Analyist, I appreciate this video immensely!! It was hard to understand soley based on the job description. So, this helps me understand what the job wants from me and how I clearly rely my strengths to fit it.

@@ourepicjourney hello! So, I was told I needed more build experience within EPIC - which I have none as I am RN. I asked for more feedback but I was looking into getting certifications or courses to obtain for the next job application. However, it appears that you can only get EPIC certs if you are sponsored. Do you have any suggestions on obtaining build experience outside of EPIC? For example, on Udemy I can only find web development / coding options. You're feedback would be invaluable!

Hi Marisa, Yes, unfortunately non-entry level Epic analyst jobs require you to have some build experience. The only course I usually recommend to people is the Good Data Analytics course on Coursera since “building” requires a good understanding on database management. I’m trying to create a course to help aspiring Epic analyst to have a better understanding of the work that we do. Do you have any topics suggestions that would be helpful for clinicians transitioning into the Epic analyst career?

You were part of KPMAS? I gave them my winter last year literally December 2022 - March 2023 lol I work for another major healthcare organization where I feel underutilized in the clinical aspect. I’m trying to break into tech via health/ data analytics. Thanks so much for your energy and this video. It was informative and encouraging. ****EDIT* I just watched another one of your videos (on why it’s so hard to get Epic certified) and if you still work here, we work for the same company. 😅 Teach me your ways 😓 I’m doing a LinkedIn learning provided by the company now to make an attempt to get my feet wet***

Hey there! Yes, I used work there for about 4 years. That’s awesome! Excited for your transition. I’m glad you got some value from it. What a small world. What kind of work do you do there now? It’s all about getting more involved in things to improve your current department and selling those achievements to others.

Hi Gabriel, My name is Daniella, I am currenly a Phlebotomist jumping into traveling jobs and I was looking for Epic training modules for Labs. Do you know of any solutions? or of any training that is available if your employer doesn't train you on EHR specifically EPIC? I have only used Cerner. Thank You.

Unsure if you got a response, but the module for Lab is Epic Beaker. One is Clinical the other is Anatomical.

hi - did you do an internship to get a job? also what made you choose epic analyst over data analyst :)
@ourepicjourney
@ourepicjourney 10 месяцев назад
Hi Kasey, I did not do an internship to get my job. I think what helped me get my initial Epic analyst job was being an Epic trainer first. I decided to go the Epic analyst route first because of my experience using the software when I was working at a hospital. Ultimately I would want to get into data analytics/data science as I further my career but being an Epic analyst first is great stepping stone. A lot of data analytics is achievable today because of EHRs so understanding EHRs will make you more marketable in the long term.

How can I get the training?
@ourepicjourney
@ourepicjourney 3 месяца назад
Hey there! You can only get official Epic training from Epic themselves and need to get sponsored by a health system too. Although, I’m working on a course on clinical applications to provide a better understanding on what the actual work looks like. Stay tuned!

Did you have to take a sphinx test for your job
@ourepicjourney

Hey there! I did have to take it the first time and failed it but I didn’t have to take it the second time around.
@d.w.4319

@ourepicjourney why was that ? Was it the same role lol? I ask because I'm wondering if all epic analyst roles require the test or certain epic analyst roles . I'm hearing different things like some hospitals dont require it and then some do but it's not a pass fail thing in determining rather your hired .....so idk 😆 🤣
@ourepicjourney
@ourepicjourney Месяц назад
@@d.w.4319 Haha sorry, let me give you a little more detail. I failed the SPHINX test for the first organization that gave me the opportunity to interview for the position. I was pretty much told that I wouldn't be a good fit because I failed the exam. I almost quit my journey then because I thought I wasn't good enough, but I decided to still apply for other organizations. Several job applications later I was given the opportunity to get Epic accredited without having to take the Sphinx test. Not all organizations require candidates to take the test. In my opinion they give out these exams to discourage people and use it as a metric to assess whether or not you will be able to pass the certification exams/projects, since they are difficult for some people. I was able to pass the exams/projects with ease so I think the exam is flawed. I just wish some organizations would stop using it since it doesn't measure actual intelligence.

They teach geography in America, it’s up to the individual to take interest and learn. I didn’t like History so I could care less. Now if I need to learn about anything, the internet is at my hands.
