Top 3 things people don't know they are overpaying for in HVAC, when they are getting their furnace or air conditioner serviced and repaired. There are times when people call out a company or contractor to take a look at their heating or air conditioning unit and are deeply impressed by the estimated repair and solution price. Many companies offer above and beyond what is actually needed for the repair and in this video I try to shine light on this problem. I will need your help in the comments to paint a better picture though.

Basically Multimeters. Electrical power testers are very "intimidating" for the novice DIY's ... in this ever evolving world of technology, NEW gadgets are often minimalistic tools if compared to cellphones and solar technology... @blewidescorpio I feel you brother.. I didn't like writing up quotes with six options either. (the last option usually being a new furnace or A/C) What ultimately resolved my search was when I got hired by a gas company that offered an appliance repair plan. (which included HVAC) The only thing we were encouraged to sell was the plan itself, which was actually a great deal. The gas company did not sell any addons and they did not do new installs nor partner with any companies that do. (for referrals) So all the guys actually focused on repair and not replacement.

I worked for a company that required us to provide 3 "recommendations" to each customer. I explained it to my customers that I serviced as being similar to getting their oil changed. Those oil change folks always recommend you do a laundry list of things - you're not obligated to do any it's just recommended. A lot of the smaller HVAC companies that have been in the business for decades are being bought out by large national companies that are pushing this must sale and incredible high repair cost to your local area.

I just had a Goodman condenser fail after two years. Luckily, I have a great service company. They installed a new condenser at no charge and the Goodman condenser was totally covered under warranty. Ps. HOTEL v MOTEL, my father told me years ago that a motel is one story and a hotel is more than one story. He's may be right but since is is my father, I don't argue! Great channel!

I just a shame that you really can’t trust most techs who come to your door when your having trouble with your furnace or AC unit. Your excellent YT videos points this out that you need to be knowledgeable enough to understand the jargon of any repair. Too often these days you’ll be talked into something you don’t need or afford.

I know you didn't ask for positive stories, or even stories about plumbing techs but it's good to hear those as well. My 13 yr-old electric water heater started leaking this past November. Crap. Called a reputable plumber and was quoted $2k for replacement. Had to have it so I figured to just bite the bullet. I was told to call in the morning to set up time. After to speaking to the tech for a bit about warranties and longevities of today's units, he said, "man you can do this yourself and it'll be so much cheaper." He was right ... did it myself for about $500! lol Back to HVAC, I swapped out the blower motor and capacitor for my outdoor unit about 2 years ago thanks to your videos! I'm sure this would've been a $600 repair but I did it for roughly $125. Thank God for U Tube and people like you! :)

May God bless him for being willing to say things like that even though that's not beneficial for his commission check. Thank you for sharing! Glad to hear that my videos have been helpful! Honestly, nowadays $600 would usually be on the low end for a motor replacement. So doing it for $125 yourself was a steal of a deal. You may have ended up with a new furnace if you called someone.😄 Awesome that you are willing to tackle bigger repairs yourself! Stay warm!

20 years ago people were just trying to make a living. Most were honest hoping word would spread. Today it is not just A/C seems every business is upselling over charging. They could care less if they ever see you again.@@WordofAdviceTV

Even though I'm paying for a service, I still treat technicians/installers well. I had a new HVAC system installed last Feb and I made sure to feed them lunch and also provided drinks. I needed a new thermostat line run due to an upgraded unit and the salesman wanted to charge me $400 to run it. The installer later said to me: "ignore him, I'll do it because you gave us lunch". Being nice doesn't guarantee a great install but it doesn't hurt to try.

Jay, it’s refreshing to see that you really strive to help home owners. Something that infuriates me is that if skilled home owners can’t afford to pay contractors, and want to DIY, the system makes it difficult to get parts. So basically someone who is broke but competent can’t keep their family warm.

My neighbor who bought his house new, 6 months before I bought mine, just had his furnace and AC replaced for more that 12 grand. All he needed was a new blower motor. I had the same problem 6 months later. About $400 later and my furnace and AC was working fine. Gave me a chance to vacuum all the dust and crap out.

@@PyroRob69 I encourage every young person I can to get into HVAC. I get asked about it by older customers all of the time because a grandchild or nephew is starting to think about getting into a trade. School is great for the theories but hands on for real world system issues is the best.

@@gtpforever He took two years of welding in high school that was taught by the local community college. got some of his certs, but then COVID came along. One of his friend's dads had his own business, and they were doing rehabs and remodels on houses, and he jumped into that. He's working on his gas certs right now, from what he says. His boss is paying for it all.

Great tips! The reasons you stated are why I prefer to go with independent contractors. Generally independents try to get your system fixed vs sell you new. I'm a life-long DYI guy and thanks to your videos can do most straight-forward repairs mysef. Thanks!

Jay, I'm glad you asked about HVAC experiences. I had one guy come out who thought a ten degree temperature split (return air temperature / supply air temperature) was acceptable. He also vented all of the liquid line refrigerant in the hose connected to his manifold gage set when he disconnected from my condenser unit, instead of putting it back into the unit (up to the low side pressure). Another tech could work on the furnace, but the most he knew about air conditioning was cleaning the condenser which I had told him I already did. He was also the same tech that mis-wired the board for the furnace to the point that the A/C unit did not work when the season changed. Needless to say that these experiences lead me to take a HVAC course at the community college. Thanks to you (& a few others on RU-vid) I am about to start servicing my own HVAC unit!

When you do call for any repair, don’t call the first company that pops up nor the one with the most advertising. There’s plenty of HVAC competition here in the south, so we’re blessed with reputable companies that have been owned by same family for generations. My 33-yr-old unit has only had 3 service calls… 2 of which were user error. Next door they called a chain that has heavily advertised for over 50 years… not only did they talk them into a new unit to replace their 4-yr-old unit, but insulation (which they already had) & bunch of other bs. Have a backbone & put an end to this perpetual be.

Companies wanting to sell you everything including the kitchen sink is one of the reasons I'm trying to get out of this trade. Those sales driven companies are creating disloyal, money hungry technicians. Those companies want you to put money over your family. Working from 7am to 12am or later is insane.

HVAC "tech" came out spending 5 hours, replacing several parts, guessing at problem. LEFT, NOT FIXED, charged us $890! Something is burning but it wasn't our furnace!! After other DIY'er showed gently tapping on gas valve (which was brand new) got his furnace working, we tried it and worked like a champ for 4 months. Now acting up again. THANK YOU for your explanations and tutorials.

Yes, unfortunately this is becoming more widespread. It's a good business opportunity though. A company with a slogan like "We fix, not sell" would probably be a hit.

Two years ago, my air conditioning quit. Called a local repair to try to support local. Diagnosed as a leaky evaporator. I felt confident in diagnosis. Same old story, cheaper to install new system, due to old refrigerant being outlawed by government and highly expensive, so replace with complete new system with approved refridgerant. On completion of a\c install, tech asked me to turn furnace on, so he could use sniffer on exhaust. As soon as ventilator motor started, he quickly stated furnace was shot. Cracked heat exchanger. Asked, don’t you feel sick when furnace running? I could shut your gas off and lock you out! Pressure and danger tactics! Quote for new furnace. Asked him for more proof of damaged heat exchanger. Said he would come back with inspection camera and probe to verify. Guess what, never kept his promise of appt and never showed up. That was 2 yrs ago. Furnace still working and no alarms from numerous CO2 detectors in my house. These bad guys sure due leave a nasty mark on the good HVAC techs.

It sounds like he didn't even check the carbon monoxide levels if he said that right as the inducer motor came on. Wow. Judging from all the comments I am getting that are similar to yours, I am starting to understand this is more widespread than I had hoped. A virus of sorts.. You shouldn't rely on CO detectors that are in homes they aren't reliable. Those are a sales tactic for that company to make money. Even $25,000 Co machines that fire departments use aren't even reliable enough at times to pick up a cracked heat exchanger.

I've learned no matter what profession to always ask up front, "Are you a salesman and if not can you please show me you certifications?". If they are a salesman or they can't provide credentials, tell them thanks, but no thanks.

I am fortunate that my experience with a local sizeable company has been good. The techs are on commission so they do make more money on upsells, but they tend to stick with fixing the problem at hand. The downside is fixing the problems can be pricey. That is why I have gone to RU-vid channels like this to learn the easier stuff about furnaces and A/C units.

Hi Jay, You always get me with your questions and riddles. Motels are a kind of hotel. The word motel (from a blend of motor and hotel) typically implies a roadside hotel in which the doors of the rooms can be entered from outside. In contrast, hotel rooms are typically entered from inside the building. Motels are often less expensive and have fewer accommodations than hotels. So so the first letter hint it's Money, right? Back when I was a kid traveling with my parents on vacation, I can remember that Holiday In was a Motel and was affordable for a middleclass family of five to stay at for an overnight.

As usual Jay, you’re right on the money. As far as the tech with the bad attitude , consider these things before passing judgement; Is this peak repair season? If it is, you may be just one of twenty or so customers that he needs to see THAT DAY. No one likes to be put off until the next day or spend the night in a cold house especially if there are elderly or children present . Don’t take it personal if the tech doesn’t have time to “chat” and explain the workings of every part. Stay well, Jay 👍👍👍

Motels came into existence during the time when people started traveling long distances in cars. You could pull in right in front of your room. Easy to carry in your luggage, and easy to load the car the next day.

Same experience. Crazy. I stopped with the yearly “service” as they make ridiculous recommendations and the work they do is easily and safely done by me. Five year old two stage 96 percent furnace and one tech recommended a “more efficient furnace”! The ultraviolet light is a strange option. It can only “treat” on side of the A Coil. I pull the panel off 1-2 times a cooling season and I have never seen any mold in there. 40 watts burning constantly and an expensive bulb replacement. Whole house humidifier is definitely worth it and easy to install. House is much more comfortable in winter. Also, my furnace has an ECM controlled blower. They are sensitive to excess static pressure in the duct work. I checked the furnace label and I was over by 20 percent. I was able to make mods to get it down to the factory specs. Watch out for those “thick” or high density filters as they can affect the static pressure.

I had a top of the line Trane heat pump put in about 8 years ago. I got repair insurance for about $1k. The technician said I could use the cheap 2 buck filter as long as I changed it every 30 days. I was pleased at the coverage as it included parts and labor. Now the tech said what used to be covered isn't covered anymore. and I must get the $30 filter! I was charged 3 times the retail price for two little capacitors and $250 for a little surge protector on the exterior wall, plus labor. Then the tech said it would cost $900 to clean the thing. I could have easily replaced the capacitors and even the surge protector after looking at RU-vid. I had three companies give me estimates when I had the A/C replaced. My brother said the A/C was too big but look at You Tube and I can clean it myself.

Hey jay, I remember when we first bought our house, one day the boiler stopped heating...called "X" HVAC company and suggested I needed a new boiler, it wasnt leaking or anything...I said nope, I dont believe you.....come to find out it only needed a new taco circulator pump 😂....thankfully I didnt fall in their trap 😂

How old was this boiler? The age itself can dictate that you should replace it instead of putting a ton of money into it. If you had a 50-year-old boiler I wouldn't put 50 bucks into it let alone the price of a circulator. Lol

Hi Jay. Question. You had a video showing how to fool the sequence of operation gor the oressure switch. I think you left it plugged in. Started furnace. Then shortly after tied the wires together. Im guessing showing non continuity then continuity. Do you know if that will work on a propane tankless water heater during startup?

I had another experience with the compony who used to get monthly charge for maintaining my furnace in case of any trouble. On 2014 my furnace got trouble of starting and stop after few seconds I don't remember the exact time. I had no clue at that time about this issue. When they check it they said there is a crack in furnace heat exchanger and has to be replaced. They have sent me another contractor to give me a quote, it was $5800 that time. When I called another compony who did change my friend furnace they gave me $3800 cost quote for the best furnace they have. Now I am HVAC licensed. I think the furnace had some thing else but not heat exchanger trouble and could be flame sensor or pressure sensor. What do you think?

Makes me think of the "free" furnace with qualifying A/C purchase gimmick many places are doing now. Guess people have forgotten the old adage: There's no such thing as a free lunch and you get what you pay for. You'll end up paying dearly for that "free" sub-par furnace, one way or another, guaranteed!! Overpriced installation costs, service call fees, parts, labor charges. And all on the lowest energy efficient furnace that they are legally allowed to install in your geographic region, that you will end up paying higher monthly utility bills for, and for a furnace that might only last 5 years, more or less. Not worth it, in my opinion. Enjoy your videos Jay!

Oh boy, a "free" furnace sounds to good to be true. 😄 So does that mean the regularly priced $5000 air conditioner will now be $9000 to accommodate the free furnace? I agree that there is no way they would simply give you a furnace for free, just a matter of how they will make their money back. Obligated maintenance checks, service work, no one else can work on your units but them, etc. Glad you like the videos, have a fabulous new week!

My Trane high efficiency furnace goes through the start up process flawlessly until the blower motor kick on step in which the furnace shuts off while the blower continue running cold air. I replaced the pressure switch as the tech recommended but it does not help. Yesterday I discovered kids had dropped stones into the vent and intake external PVC pipes. I was able remove those in the vent pipe but the intake pipe joints are sealed so for now I am not able to access the bottom and remove the stones. Thoughts?

Still running my 25 yr old furnace on aftermarket parts from Amazon. I spent $300 on spare parts a number of years ago just in case my furnace died. I've replaced a high limit switch & just recently a circuit board. Total savings $1500 if I had called a HVAC company & they demanded a ransom. Insurance is a box of spare parts & Jay's videos!!

Furnaces are not high tech by any means. If you can read wiring diagrams & own a multimeter you should have no issue. I just added a manometer to check my pressure switch & gas valve. Easy peasy for most with the help of RU-vid.

We just bought a home in Florida and want to find out who put in the AC as it is great and would like to use them for service etc if and when needed. There are no stickers on condenser or air handler showing name of local company. Is it possible to find out using the model/serial numbers on unit from manufacturer? Thanks for any help with this. Glad to hear your unit was installed good. Unfortunately it is not possible to see who the contractor who did the install is via the model or serial. Is there any stickers on your indoor unit? Perhaps one of the neighbors used the same contractor? Also, if the unit was installed 5-10 years ago, It's possible that company may not even be around anymore or was bought out.

@@WordofAdviceTV big outfit in the Midwest. Chicago area. They had a Black Friday deal thru Home Depot. Furnace clean & check for $8.88. I have 2 so I said why not, they’re 18 year old American standard. Nothing wrong with either. Telling me on needs an inducer motor, both need new fan motors & one has markings on the heat exchanger & it’ll need replacement. My brother works commercial HVAC so I had him come take a look. He said everything looks fine on both units.

Yikes. That's terrible! So they were literally using the $8.88 special to get their foot in the door. Once there, it's a sales party! This kind of reminds me of the Amway days. Some of my friends told me they were invited to a dinner one time and when they arrived, it was actually a sales presentation. Super awkward. Everyone who was invited thought they are just coming for a casual chat and hang out type of dinner. These clean and checks have the same vibe.

I needed to replace my furnace …guy I knew wanted $9 grand….guy #2 wanted $6 grand plus tried to scam me on my chimney….#3 got another quote $4.5 grand……spent time with me explained what needed to be don …….later heard the first guy talking afterward ….yeh I only need one furnace per month to live on…..no wonder !…went with guy #2 got a better furnace plus all gas piping……

I love your channel and enjoy the satisfaction of fixing something myself, However the warranty on my Daikin says you must have regular maintainance by a licenced provider and that any work you do yourself will void your warranty. I was told by my service tech that I should get a easy start capacitor and a surge protector on my 6 year old unit which was drawing high amps at start up. These are things I could do myself after watching online videos and reading. However when I called Daikin to make sure adding an easy start capacitor to to unit would not void my warranty they said it would not as long as a licenced dealer did the work. I understand the manufacturer can't honor a warranty it faulty repairs might contribute to new problems but being unable to do any work on your system to maintain it is unreasonable. Saving over 1000% on the cost on replacing a bad capacitor from $16 to $250 is a perfect example. Do you think a company could really get away with voiding your warranty on your system if you replaced a capacitor on your own or added a surge protector yourself to your outside unit? Any comments from you or others with experience in this would be appreciated.

Thank you! Unfortunately there is no good solution to this one. Those that hate being watched will dislike you no matter what you say or do. They just don't want you there period. I personally don't mind being watched but I had some co-workers who would refuse to even work on the unit if the customer was hovering. One helpful thing to do is to give them a warning right off the bat so that they know to expect it. Something like, "recently I have been trying to learn more about my furnace, I don't mean to be a helicopter but I hope it's okay with you that I accompany you during your diagnosing and if possible ask you questions about how things work." This way the technician will not be waiting for you to leave, getting more frustrated by the minute. He will be aware that you plan to stay with him the whole time.

Easiest way to not be a helicopter customer is give them space and still be present if you want. Or simply ask them if it's ok to be there and ask questions. But you also need to remember that if the tech is there it's for a reason and if you're distracting that person too much they could miss something that is life threatening to you and your family. We're using our ears a lot when working on a unit and if talking is happening we may not here something that we need to hear. Also remember that you're paying for the time. So if they're charging $125/hr to work on your unit and let's say that problem can be fixed in 1/2 hour plus the part but you talk to him for 2 hours plus the part that's on you. Lol! $125x .5 is $62.50 and let's say a $180 part was bad that's $142.50 But if you talk for 2 hours that's $250 plus the $180 that's $430 now because you wanted to talk and ask 50 questions. Now some people this is ok to them but to the tech not so much because yeah he charged it to you but they most likely have a family they want to see and other customers they need to serve. So the job and day was now extended by 1.5 hours and that's if there wasn't more delays before they were done with calls. 😂

There is no such thing as being ripped off when both parties to a contract. The only way rip off happens is one of the parties fails to deliver. Just because one price is higher than another does not mean rip off. A motel is where you can drive up to the entrance to your rented room. A hotel you must enter the room through a lobby.

Trying to figure out our furnace (trane) will work for about 2 or 3 days , kicking on and off heating fine then it will stop, I can hear it trying to but nothing. Its in attic too, pain in butt. I usually wait a week and turn it on and it starts working again. Don't know

I know you don't want to hear this but you will need to go up in the attic. 😅 When the furnace stops and you can hear it trying to start, you will need to go see what error code the furnace control board is blinking. That will give you a good idea of what is going on.

I have went up and cleaned flame sensor and put new one in and nothing. Put new igniter and nothing. Any other relatively simple things I could check or uncheck. Control board. Hmmm.. Without an error code or knowing where in the sequence of operation it is stopping, it's kind of hard to guess. If this is a high efficiency furnace (pvc venting) then yes, a clogged drain line could definitely make it run intermittently like that. It may still be draining but veryyy slowly. But once it turns off (because of the pressure switch), the furnace has time to catch up on the draining. Other than this, there are other things that can cause a pressure switch error. If you notice this problem more often on very cold days, that increases this likelihood. If you haven't replaced the filter/s yet, I would do that. Sometimes it's not the flame sensor that is the problem but the burners. Once they are cleaned, it makes a good connection. Thank you! The first question I usually ask in cases like this is, "what changed?". When did you notice that this started happening? Also, I would occasionally check the furnace control board to see if it is blinking any error codes. (such as the furnace is overheating)

Thank you for this video! How much time do you have?? lol. Let’s go back 20 yrs with my new home construction! lol. An HRV was required by local building code. Installer cut a 6 inch hole thru the faceplate to accommodate the fresh air intake and exhaust ports to outside air. Unfortunately he cut thru major 220 volt wiring attached to the inside of the faceplate, and failed to disclose this error until we found the error when a whirlpool bathtub wouldn’t work. Then we complained of high heating bill costs, only to find the stale air from furnace, and the fresh air to furnace connections were backwards! Fast forward 18 years, I learn thru my own research, the system was never properly balanced with air flow between the upper and lower levels of my house. Dampers were not secured and subsequently could rotate as they so desired! So much for bylaws and code compliance! This mandatory system probably cost me excess aggravation and expense! And I have more, will add another comment…

Oh boy.. What a mess. Thank you for sharing this one too! This is a bit off topic but on a similar note. Some may disagree but I think some of these compliance codes are a little shady. For example, is R22 refrigerant that is getting phased out really that bad? Or is it simply not making enough money? Too easy too work with, not complicated enough which allows homeowners to recharge their own unit. That won't do. I honestly would not be surprised if 10 years later we will make a full circle and they will say that actually R22 is the best for the environment. Same with changing oil on a car. Most cars used to be super easy to change oil on. Now with many new cars it's a massive headache. Easier to pay to get it done. They also started making a new refrigerant for new cars that is higher pressure, needs special equipment to work with, and is 5x the price. I had a 2018 Kia, the evaporator sprung a leak on it. The mechanic told me that he is seeing more and more cars with AC problems. Coincidence? Maybe. Though it seems like at least some of it is intentionally planned to help people spend more money.

while living in Missouri and our Brother in law was living in our Florida house..we had new AC system installed by a company called Safari..They finished the work and left,,,rear bedroom was not cooling so a return trip was needed..no ductwork installed to rear bedroom....just the start of the problems,,system is now 5 years old and the system stopped cooling,,tech was sent out ..yep AC coil has a leak new ac coil needed.. system came with 10 year warranty..so each time tech came out charges were incurred...last time tech came out for routine checkup he brought his gf looked the system over could not find why system was not cooling although he checked nothing out as i watched him scan with his flashlight..company had no problem billing me 300 dollars for his 10 minute flashlight checkover. system ac coil leaking again says new ac company and wants 5 grand for a new one. and 500 to add coolant again. old people are at the mercy of these crooked techs!..Safari no longer warrants any of my ac parts .

I have a 10 year old Ruud 90 percent furnace short cycling. I have cleaned the flame sensor, replace the limit switch, checked the pressure switch(thanks to your video), cleaned the trap, then called a furnace company. He wiggled some wires on the control board and it will work for awhile the back to the same issue. I have looked online for a board but can't find one. RUUD model . UGTA-07EMAES. Any suggestions. He did try to sell a new unit.

Just my 2¢, but, since you said the unit worked "for awhile" after the tech jiggled the wires on the control board, could it possibly be a loose connection of one of the wires on the control board? Me personally, after turning the power off to the furnace, I would wiggle each wire connecting to the control board and check to see if any of the spade connectors seem loose, or not as tight as the other connections. If there are any loose ones, I'd take the wire off, clean the contact, squeeze the spade connector a little more closed (just a little, not all the way closed) and reconnect the wire into the terminal making sure it firmly slides into the connection making good contact. Turn the power to the furnace back on and see if that works. Worth a try anyway. Like I said, that's just what I would do on mine. Hope you get it repaired. Good luck!

My upstairs air handler wouldn't turn off. One of the 3 HVAC techs at my house said my wiring was wrong on my thermostat despite the system running well for 5 years. One of the techs was pointing to a bad relay after I mentioned that as a possibility. I youtube'd the problem prior to the techs arriving and that was pretty much my amateur diagnosis. Later I was offered a lease plan for a new HVAC system. What?? I declined the repair and took a chance repairing the system myself with a like new part from eBay. The seller of the part was an HVAC tech. I bought the part, installed it, and problem resolved. Lease plan for HVAC? Is that something widely used in the industry?

First off, if a service techs first diagnosis is "it's wired wrong", after operating for years without a problem, and you KNOW nothing has been changed on the system, thank them for their time and escort them to the door. IMHO. And I've seen many companies offering leasing HVAC options lately. And like leasing a car, there are some pros and MANY cons to that option. If you can live with the terms and conditions of the contract, and there will be many, then it's fine. Read the contract, including the fine print (ie. service contracts, maintenance fees, selling your home before the end of the contract, purchase price of your system at the end of the contract, etc) and understand it all before signing. But, like leasing a vehicle, purchasing is generally a better option than leasing. Again, IMHO.

when i turn on the heat setting its not very hot even when the thermostat says 90 the air is not hot so i just turn it off

I had a gas furnace that would sometime would not come on. Over a period of about 5 years I had 4 technicians come out. Some said you might need a new circuit board. The fix was very simple and extremely easy to test. But none of them knew it. Anyone here know what the problem was?

Good riddle! 😄 I feel like there is not enough information to make a good guess but that's a lame excuse right. I'll go with - the blower motor fan speed was too low causing the furnace to overheat on colder days. Simply switching the heat speed from low to medium solved the problem!

Crazy to me that there's people who think all HVAC companies are criminals or only wanting furnace replacements for no reason when we make less money on the replacement than we do on the parts changing all of the time. There's a bunch of things that point us to replacement recommendations. Sometimes its just the age of it. The average life span in the majority of the country is only 15-20 years so when some of you state my 30 or 40 year old system is just fine but they wanted us to replace it because they're a criminal or just scamming people although at times I'm sure it happens but for crying out loud its usually just us wanting better for you when it comes to efficiency or reliability. A reliability comparison is also an odd one because the overall reliability from day one of your 40 year old system is known but with new stuff its not known but your old system also doesn't have a buttload of safety's on it to save your life. Some of those old systems will burn your house down and keep running thinking nothing is wrong. 😂😂😂
