Breathing* and I’m not an expert and I’m not a great singer but when I first started I have never done singing in my life and since then a year ago it’s really helped
I've been watching your videos (and applying your advise) for about a week. I'm a middle aged lady who used to sing for her supper. Long story short, life and some health problems have kept me away from singing and as a result lost all control, for nearly two years I've been hoarse on and off - your advise has literally given me my voice back. I cried the day before yesterday as I managed to sing a song, as I manage to get some voice out! Thank you so much for putting this out here for grabs. It's not all about earning a living through singing, some of us just love to tune into our soul through singing and music. Many blessings to you xoxo
Eric youre the best thing that ever happened to me . As i was 11 years old . I started my first warmup / exercise and you were the one to teach me . And from that day i knew im gonna stick with you , because youre such an amazing vocal teacher . I get every small detail youre trying to explain . I really do understand the meaning behind these little tiny things u always mention. I just feel it. Thank you for making my life easier ❤️❤️❤️
This video has been BY FAR the most helpful to me, out of the hundreds singing tips/exercise videos I’ve watched on youtube. I also have a heavy and gritty voice by nature, and doing exercise 1 and 2 provided me with so many “Ah-Ha!” moments that I’ve lost track. 60-70% of my range is locked behind the ironclad door or throat tension unless I spend a 45-60 minutes only warming up my inhale and support muscles. Getting the “One voice” feeling is a 2-3 hour grind for me right now, but the satisfaction of achieving it mean so much to me, based on my former firm belief that I was never had a chance actually sounding good. This video deserves a ton more views, its so underated!
Love the sniff hold hiss! Been doing the 3 parts of your program for several months after following your channel for a while and it's been nothing but AMAZING! Thank you so much!
Y'ALL his stuff works I swear watch the breathing ones, riff videos, tones and just the warm ups and the other stuff I swear I also got chills when I hit a note I couldn't hit before with ease but now I can do it with more ease ALTHOUGH I've only been doing it for like a month (also a bit inconsistent aswell) I'm not saying I can COMPLETELY hit it with ease now but it improved my tone, the shakyness and also my breathing improved, I could hold the note I couldn't before much longer now I got chills it's ACTUALLY working I thought I was completely helpless lmao
I really like the way you teach. When I get my finances together, I will definitely be investing in your coaching. Thank you for all that you already share, it truly is of value. Keep being amazing!
I bought a CD many years ago and still use some of those warmups (as recently as Sat. early morning before a gig). Yes, it went great! Thanks for asking. lol
I'm very happy about the third tip! I will see if I can properly use this gold to help with breathiness and punch. I'll be careful about tension in the throat :-)
Hi Eric I used to work with you a long time ago, now I am back my voice has reached a plateau that has grown-up. I still need work. Thank you. Eric for your time with me. I'm trying to keep practicing every day. 🙂
Awesome video, I remember this from your bootcamp course and I do it randomly in the house and in between songs. I have been improving with my voice. Thanks
Thanks💞I’m a new subscriber and I must say this helps a lot. I’m on the praise team at my church and I’m always out of breath or my throat would always hurt and feel tired after singing and practice, but after trying this warm up, I don’t have all that pain and exhaustion and I don’t feel like I’m out of breath anymore 😊
Thank you so much for these instructional lessons. I have improved greatly by the exercises in a short amount of time. I feel more confident with using my voice. If I had discovered your videos sooner, I would have saved me a long drive for lessons that were costly with little improvement. Thanks again
Hi Eric! Love your approach to the voice. I love 'vocal fry'. I fall into it and all that you state is true. Like anything......practice, patient practice is necessary. I'm recording today and am grateful for your expertise. Peace Be!
This is by far the best warm up video for me... I also have a low voice that I feel gets in the way of singing- like it pulls down or something and makes it hard to actually sing? Anyway, THANK YOU for sharing this. I tried the sniffing, holding and Z'ing and my voice felt so light afterwards! You are right, there really isn't a time of how long one should do this but you really do feel the difference in your throat. Took all the weight off
My go-to warm up is that reverse fry you teach in your phase 2 course paired with raspberry trills. Usually I do this while I’m boiling water for tea, so I get to inhale the steam while doing the reverse fry and I don’t worry about dryness in my vocal cords
Bless you Eric. Thank you for your gift and work🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I love the vocal fry I call it The Ring because it sounds like that sound from the movie when I'm walking through the house hahaha but it always makes my voice feel better.
WOW !!! never heard of this exercise even tho my family teases me about my super-power sense of smell lol - tysm Eric - this exercise is immediately effective - YOU ABSOLUTELY ROCK
It's funny how I've been doing Vocal Fry everytime I go to sleep, it's kind of just a sigh expression of mine due to a long day, I didn't know it's a vocal exercise. 😅
I will use the sniff exercise forever now. After 3 or 4 sniffs, the rib cage unconditionally goes up without me even trying to make it go up. Then, I sing 3 or 4 words. They are flowing like never before! And the sounds come out smoother as well without the lack of continuity of the sounds. A much better leggatto.
Great ! I really feel the sniff is doing exactly what you're saying , expanding my chest and ribs .... and the vocal fry is very effective for me ....the z I didn't tried to much , yet , but I will do it . I really love to watch your videos . Never get tired ore bored . A lot of useful information here . I see a book , on your keyboard stand ...Iron Sh... is it Iron Shirt Chi Kung ? Don't want to bother you , but that's what I thought of , when I saw that ...Thank you for your videos ! Keep doing what you're doing ! I really appreciate this and I'm sure there are a lot of other singers here that are agree with me . Thanks again !
Hey Eric ! I love the "Zzz" thing + sharing my experience -- hope I'm not misleading with this but thought it might be helpful to share that the "z" thing felt like "revving up an engine" like an internal engine and then it turned into vocal frying or fracking lol😂 with the " Z" ... But now I'm thinking I shouldn't be too cavalier with adapting the Zzz energy into a fry ..... And then doing the normal gentler fry ... So when you have a moment .... Is it ok to fry / frack the Z? Or might it be harmful... ? Thanks so much 💌
