Pretty crappy of Ellen to do that, how would she like it if somebody "outed" her before she was ready? She of all people should understand how she made Mariah feel.
Considering all the gay men who's tried to "convert" me from heterosexuality.. Being gay doesn't necessarily make a person more understanding or empathic. They often only have a magnifying glass on how they're treated. Not on how they treat others. Just like most people.
I'm sorry you experienced that. Most lgbtq+ people are hyper aware of being careful to not let others know of anything personal about others out of respect. But every group has their assholes
I can't stand her whole schtick. It's a reminder that just because someone may have experienced discrimination themselves doesn't mean they have respect for others. She's always seen herself as someone special.
I don't blame Arsineo for defending himself you can't just acuse or call somebody homophobic just because he hadn't had any gay guests on the show like he said no everyone likes putting there personal life on live tv and may not want to talk about there sexuality on tv
@@Miguel-mp7uztrivial stuff? It’s a pregnancy, which is a pretty big deal. You don’t talk about pregnancies early on for a lot of reasons, miscarriages being one of the biggest. It was completely uncalled for.
@flednanders4601 yes stuff. If your a star and your going on a TALK SHOW be prepared to talk about ANYTHING related to you and some stuff that isn't. You don't get to be famous and in the limelight with all the good stuff and not have some of the annoyances. You keep kissing famous people's butt's it will get you a long way....right?
@jcruz4759 yes. Yes. Yes. There's a reason most women wait a certain period of time before telling people they are pregnant. I hate Mariah, but she was forced to come out about her pregnancy because of Ellen, and then she miscarried. So then she was forced to publicly morn and have a very sensitive topic/ experience held over her forever. Outing someone as gay has a huge impact on their lives, same with outing someone as pregnant.
@@cheetahtfk7274not *quite* as detrimental as being outed because being outed can cost you relationships, reputation, job opportunities, the risk of abuse etc but yes the fact it’s a nasty nosy thing to do and did force her through hardship
@dodgyyoutuber9560 as someone who is closeted,I disagree. Being forced to deal with a pregnancy publicly and then the loss of that child is far worse. Sure I could lose relationships if I was outed. But if that happens those relationships won't be mourned because anyone that would cut ties over someone not being straight is no true loss. Having to deal with everyone talking about your pregnancy that you didn't want public, then having everyone talk about the death of your child is truly mental torture. It's pretty absurd that you think having people know that someone isn't straight is worse.
It would seem a bit wordy to us, but it’s completely clever. The word “losing” is a “negative” word that could trigger people to change the video too early. Brilliant on them. God Bless.
Morton was a truly garbage person and nobody missed him when his show went off air. He did eventually apologize for his antics, far too late and quietly for it to be impactful. And he did do some good things like advocating against big tobacco and smoking after having a lung removed. But honestly, the guy was a horrible stain on American media culture and that should absolutely remain his legacy.
Morton just wanted controversy because it got people talking. When his ratings sank, he staged an "attack" by neo-Nazi's on him, even going as far as to say they wrote racist words on his body. Too bad for him the words were written in reverse, indicating they were done in front of a mirror!
@@apacifistmachinegunner669 I guess you must be just another typical right-wing lunatic who sees alleged "left-wing conspiracies" all the time and that is so sad of you to believe that!
@@apacifistmachinegunner669 Yall sure love using a word, that has been played out. No one, but lame people like Fox News still use the word WOKE. You don't even know the meaning of the word WOKE, where it originated from or what it really means. Fox and other lame conservatives have worn it out. The term was used in the 1960s -1980s. Its 2024 and yall late on the slang like always. Lol If you were alive and old enough in the 90s, you would know it was controversial back in the 90s. That's why it made the list. So, you can stop with the division and blame game. People in the audience never disrupt his show before. The gay community tried to get his show canceled. They wanted him to tell who was the host he had on his show wbo was gay, which was none of their business. Arsenio was the only black late night talk show. The gay community didn't harass other shows about not having gay people. When Arsenio had the same guest, gay people that Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, David Letterman, and other talk shows had. HIV and Aids was still stigmatized with being gay disease, so people didn't come out. Arsenio show was also controversial when he had Farahkan on his show. After Arsenio had Farahkan on his show. His show was canceled by the network.
She read the room and still didn't care, it's like news channels trying to be first with a breaking story and end up giving away information that was being held back for a safety reason
NBC promised Conan that he would someday host The Tonight Show in an act of desperation (after getting wind that FOX wanted to poach him for a late-night show of their own), but didn't inform Leno of this arrangement until several years later. Whatever else you think about Leno, he wasn't the bad guy in this conflict. He was very understandably upset that he was being forced out of The Tonight Show while ratings were still good, and simply went along with a series of very bad business decisions by NBC in order to stay in the public eye.
If I was Mariah, I would have walked out. I would not have felt I needed to be polite. Making her drink is really egregious. There's a time to simply enforce yiur boundaries without explanation.
I've been saying that about Ellen from the beginning but no one believed me! Everyone around me bought her "nice" & "generous" act. I saw that she was petty, impatient, greedy, spiteful & downright mean. There were cracks in the bs. You would see it in her face or hear it in her tone or choice of words. It was in her body language it was hidden behind the dancing, it was meant to be overlooked during the give-aways & the games, but those just made it easier to see. I'm glad someone finally broke the silence. I don't like it when ppl believe they are entitled to treat others like they are worthless. True colours showing now!
@@xenonfinity1984 absolutely. I remember when I was in college this kid was on Ellen and he talked about how she was so different behind the scenes and I always kind of suspected it. It was really her mannerisms and how she always wanted to be the one making jokes or getting the last word in on her show. She was kind of like Oprah, except Oprah has such a far reach and has been in the spotlight for so long. I’ve read some horror stories about her as well.
I hope The View gets canceled soon 🤢 Like the Ellen Show...she was inappropriate, rude, and invasive. I really liked her and the show at 1st, and then she shot herself in her own foot. Hollywood is crazy af.
IF *Scientology* IS a "religion", then why do they *REQUIRE* you to sign a lifelong contract? Sounds more like servitude or something. They don't exactly have "Sunday church services."
I hate scientology just as much as the next person, but saying it isnt a religion because they dont have sunday church is silly. The only religion that does that is Christianity. Are you saying Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism are not religions either? Find a better argument because there are plenty of better ones than this.
It's a religion, because it's a group of people united by their share beliefs in some form of higher power. Whether or not it looks like what you consider normal is irrelevant. All religions are weird to outsiders in one way or another. I don't agree with Scientology, but someone's right to believe what they want is something I strongly agree with.
Crispins interview reminded me of the stunts Andy Kaufman would do..... Is it Crispins fault the world has narrowed its view on what they think is funny?
Dick Cavett knows his stuff. You ever see his interview with the Green Beret killer? That scumbag was acting like he just released a hit movie instead of like a grieving husband and father "desperate" to find the killers.
I began appreciating Tom Cruise in one of his early films, All the Right Moves. But his sudden pursuit of Scientology, due to his first wife's influence, has sickened me. I had hoped he was smarter than that. But I continue to watch his movies, such as Collateral, in which Cruise played a villain.
Yeah I loved watching Arsenio because it was fresh and new..He brought guests on,that we actually wanted to see. Luther was on alot,my grandma loved him. 🙏❤️💯
That's true but unfortunately his show brought high enough ratings that talk shows after his emulated his "style", which led to those shows becoming dumpster fires.
Morton Downey Jr was a complete ass to his guests. I don't think I would have handled myself with as much as Seka did. From his smugness, to his ridiculous cigars, everything about him was annoying. He ended up dying of lunv cancer from his smoking so I guess everything worked out in the end.
I watched that episode, where Rosie O'Donnell and Tom Selleck had their discussion. I applaud Selleck's handling of everything. He could have gotten rude or even crass, but he was very polite.
I went and watched the full interview after this video I don't get why she brought that subject up in the first place considering he wasn't even there to talk about that he was there to talk about his new movie and she should have just stuck to talking about that because there was just no need for her to start bullying him like that but Tom being the gentleman he is handled the situation very graciously
@@Mexicobeanpole There is always one person who makes an ignorant comment on any YT video and ding, ding ,you are the winner for this video. Tom Selleck is and has always been a stand-up guy. Give one instance where TS was disrespectful to women?
Wow way to state the obvious and be a b I t c h, LMAO. Imagine being that miserable you have to fish for a comment to knit pick at 😂😂😂😂 She didn't say anything about it being cancelled immediately after the Mariah incident she's saying Ellen plays the victim when she knows she was wrong for so long. Also ps go touch some grass. @@TeddyB-hf3ks
I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the Jenny Jones show that had a man telling another man that he had a crush on him that led to the man who the crush was about killing the man that had the crush.
The Morton Downey show was pure trash. They manufactured full blown physical fights out of issues that weren't all that controversial. It quickly became tiresome.
Frankly as someone with Depression and Anxiety, it bothers me when people like Tom Cruise think that others should not have medication and therapy. My treatment is no one's business. It doesn't hurt or cause pain to anyone else. Meds are there for a reason to stabilize our moods and clear our heads. True there are some who have real reasons to not take meds but others do. Treatment is not a one size fits all thing. Physical illnesses aren't minmized or misdiagnosed by people with no experience. Someone with a broken leg is not told to pray the pain away. Someone with cancer isn't told that their problem isn't important and they just need to think positive. People with heart or respiratory problems aren't told that they don't need to see a professional. Everyday people with mental illnesses are told that. The i only time that mental health becomes an issue to many who don't have them is to deflect from other issues like gun control. As though the worst case scenario is the only example of people who need psychiatric help but not those with every day problems. We are often considered weak, entitled, and part of a lazy generation instead of a person who just needs help.
Dr's are sending chronic pain patients to therapy to meditate the pain away. If you look up how pain is being treated the thought is we can control our pain with meditation. It's stupid. I agree to a point that medications can be overused, but just like depression, anxiety, and other issues, we can't just make them go away. I hope you're doing well and have a blessed day.
As a gay man I applaud Hall. They weren't activist they were just pissy cry babies. Hall was absolutely right, maybe his guest didn't want people to know their sexuality. Idk Hall so I can't say if he is homophobic or not but I highly doubt he is.
Since they ended with Geraldo Rivera, so I want to mention an episode of his, one of the funniest, not violent, or cringy or anything like that. I don't remember who the guest was, or what they were discussing, but I think Geraldo was getting on his case a little bit. Anyway, the guest was talking away, "and blah, blah, blah, almost like Al Capone"......... and then he pauses for a second or two, and points towards Geraldo, and goes, "Geraldo, YOU remember Al Capone, don't you?"! The audience just erupted in roars of laughter. Geraldo tried to formulate a comeback, but couldn't, and finally had to break for a commercial.🤣
Once I saw the Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer clip, I went "there ya go!" I would have been incredibly surprised if that one wasn't on the list. Yet it made my skin crawl all over again! Perfect choice for this list imo.
I was very young when his show was on but he always seemed like one of those hypothetical men who would vilify a woman for how she is dressed in public but assault her in private. I don't know if he did or not but he just seems like that kind of moral crusader on the outside but sleazy perv on the inside.
Yeah. Apparently he became nicer when he was dying of lung cancer. I also read that he blamed "Big Tobacco" for not warning him of the dangers of chain-smoking. Loser.
Matt Lauer VS Tom Cruise: I have never been a Lauer fan. Not because of his sexual harassment of women - I didn’t like him years before that became known. He was just too full of himself. That being said, Lauer did the best job of going up against the nut job known as Tom Cruise. Although that interview did not make me “Team Lauer”, I respected him for his questioning of a person, who I still feel is dangerous to anyone that is dealing with a mental illness. Cruise went from “not agreeing with” psychiatry, to being an expert in the field because he studied the history of psychiatry. With that logic, everyone is an expert on many subjects. Cruise is a poster child of proof that mental illness is a very real thing. I am a person who has been diagnosed with mental health issues. And yes I do take medication to help me level out the symptoms. For the first 28 years of my life, I was miserable every day of my life. I tried or considered [S] more often than not. Once I was diagnosed, went to therapy for about a year and started taking medication, my life totally changed. I never knew what real happiness was until that day. If I had not received help I truly believe that I would not be here today. This is why I say that Cruise is dangerous. He has every right to have an opinion. But he has no right to speak out against it like he did with that interview. I think he is one of the worst people ever. Since I saw the interview, I refuse to do, buy, etc. anything that could possibly put money in his pocket. And Scientology? It’s a tax free cult!!! I know that because I’ve studied the history of it. 😱
Ellen should be ashamed. She'll never be though, she sold her soul a long time ago. Mariah should not have had to put up with that. So sad she lost the baby too.
@@NexuJin Yeah that seems to happen to a lot of celebrities. They stop thinking they are fortunate and start believing god chose them to be above everyone else.
You go girl!, Vince McMahon is, was, and forever will be a lying, cheating, sorry excuse for a jackass, and he will be put away from society forever and ever
What do you think is going to happen when you bring members of a white supremacist group together with a leader in the civil rights movement?? I am sure the producers didn't KNOW there would be a brawl, but I DID notice that no one came over to 're-seat' Roy Innes after being called an Uncle Tom. The most positive thing that came out of this was Geraldo's broken nose.
A bit surprised that Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler on Late Night With David Letterman didn't end up on here. It was kayfabe, but, damn, I thought it was real.
I used to watch Ellen then I learned more and realized that she constantly pushed others like she did with Mariah Carey to disclose highly personal info so quit watching her, it’s one thing to try to get new info but not something like that.
Arsenio Hall needed more time on this list. Some of the absolute craziest interviews I've seen happened on that show. He brought Madonna's actual father on the show without her knowing, and she was very upset. He interviewed Paula Abdul after they had a bad brake up and she went off the hook during that interview. That man was the craziest talk show host I've ever seen, and we loved it.
Arsenio's actions were understandable; his guests appeared on his show to promote their work, not discuss their sexuality. There was no reason to accuse him of being homophobic when there was absolutely nothing to back up that claim. As far as what Ellen did to Mariah, that was just plain cruel.
@@HenryM-v6d Yes, he did and mentioned that to the protesters. I was around back then and I remember the stigma around homosexuality of that time. It's great that people are generally more accepting of it now and that people feel more comfortable being open about it; however, some people just don't feel the need to discuss their sexuality with others. Either way, people should be respected for who they are. The protesters were completely out of line with Arsenio and to accuse him of being homophobic with nothing to back up their claims was ridiculous, so I don't fault Arsenio for reacting the way that he did.
I saw that episode years ago and couldn’t believe how disrespectful and dismissive that “baker” was-To The One and Only Patti LaBelle! Talking to her like she’s a kindergarten student! Ms. LaBelle handled it very well 😂
@@glenncordova4027 Imagine how insulted Patti LaBelle must have felt? She’s a mature woman who deserves respect. I don’t like seeing/hearing anyone spoken to that way. As you said, it really was rude. I hope it was addressed off camera as well. 🧁
The backlash and fallout from Tom Seleck and Rosie O'Donnell clash was more about Tom was there to promote a film he was in. The film, "The Love Letter" was starred by, written by, produced by, Kate Capshaw. Who happens to be Mrs. Steven Spielberg. She put two years of her blood sweat and tears into this art film and Rosie took a big crap on it. The NRA wasn't responsible for Rosie's blacklisting. It was her disrespecting the wife of America's most famous director and producer.
The NRA? I had thought Rosie blacklisted herself after being such a pain in the ass about almost ALL things. And although I don't watch it, I do note that Tom Selleck is still on TV in "Blue Bloods," and Rosie is just a punchline now.
Parkinson is so rude, especially with women. He asked Helen Mirren about her big breasts and whether it hurt her being seen as a serious actress. Meg gets a pass, as do a lot of the women on this list for dealing with rude men.
Great comment! Couldn't agree more. By the way, and speaking of creepy, Mojo seems oblivious to the fact that people are gettting really tired of the woke crap.
You lost me at 9:45 when you claimed that John Stewarts' insults of Tucker Carlson were "concise critisicms" while Tucker's retorts were "juvenile insults." Your bias is showing!!

What a question in 2024. If only we'd known that our 'regular' TV and news would be so much more idiotic, outrageous, and insulting than anything our "trash TV" shows would have thought to show back in the 80's.

I don't pretend to know all about my condition but i do trust the specialists who know what they're doing & have degrees to prove it.
This one was particularly heinous as, IIRC, he was talking about her (Brooke Shields) getting treatment for post-partum depression, something that clinically happens and many new moms get shamed for.
What?! You don't trust a conceited movie star in a cult that does his own research!?!? How could you be so mean to little Tommy Cruise? Lolol For the record, after hearing about him not allowing hotel workers to look him in the eye under penalty of being fired I have despised Tom Cruise with a passion. This interview did not help his public persona at all.
Gore was golden. That was the battle of the brains and he won, without a rise in blood pressure. That's when we all started reading Gore Vidal books, just watching him go. Um I also remember the Arsenio Hall show, that was so wrong, because he always was thoughtful of his guests, and even his jokes he had a thing about never attack the person. Events are fair game, but never the person. That was an era when you couldn't just come out. Stonewall had happened like 19 years before, but that effect was only to make it illegal to assault someone for being gay. Imagine that. Not going to want to run out and tell the world yet. It wasn't just a preference, he was responsible for people's lives. So if they didn't want to talk about it, they didn't talk about it. I would say Queer Nation was out of line. They want to make a point, but didn't check their facts.

The XFL did fail after one season, but was relauched in 2020. The league played five of the orignally planned ten weeks of games, before the Covid-19 pandemic began.
