I built a variant of one of your boats which works great as an allrounder, one pen at the back, Pen is 2x3 by 3 high sideways. basically a big three wide runway down the middle of the raft with one row of ramps at the nose of the raft and two rows to lead into the pen (they dont quite reach the deck but it doesnt matter). On each side of the raft is a 3x1 room for stuff (one is two high the other one). You just drive it up under things like spinos and beavers, Either push them into the pen with rocks or simply dismount the raft and run up the ramp and out the back. To knock out you can stand safely under the ramps with the rooms on both sides protecting you. Leaves enough structures remaining for everything you'd need on an expedition base too. With ramps both sides on the dino doors there is still plenty left over for smithy etc. To drive the boat you can access the tiller from both sides of the ramp.

Accordread you have to angle the gates to where it doesn't block the beck or it won't fly. also it's glitchy as hell and doesn't protect the quetz much
Man did you come up with those designs? Genius! I am going to try the fighter build. I didn't know you could do that with the platforms level or almost under the saddle plat. Great vid!
Awesome Quetz builds! Really enjoy checking out your builds. Word of warning though, auto turrets and plant turrets will be banned from all platform saddles very soon. Already happening on PC. So I wouldn't put too much thought into making battle platforms as they will be obsolete soon. Anyway great vid Onewing =)
If one were to host a server it is an option whether turrets may be placed upon platform saddles. Personally I think they should be allowed. Op ah? Oh well. If one Getz to that point in the game he should be allowed to build them on platform saddles. My opinion.
This guy puts out amazing content. Should have at least a few hundred thousand subs imo. So much content, breaks my heart to see that this guy doesn't have more subs.
Can you do a updated video with all the new patches they made on some of these builds. Our group of friends live your builds but some don't work anymore
An improvement on your trapper is that you can just make the walls out of door frames, make a completely enclosed box, and ramming a wild quetz will cause it to glitch inside, once you have it inside stop moving and it will be trapped. This removes the need to place the "locking walls" after you have it inside the box, and its just easier to ram a quetz from head on.
Thanks for this video too. The raft one was exceptional. I've actually started to sell the raft builds on the server I play on. Now the quetz platform should really bring in some real cash flow.
Regarding the "trapper", you can have the walls on the back before you catch one. You can fly your "cage" through the wild quetz and then simply stop. While you can fly the cage through them, they can not fly through it. I built mine the first week after the quetz was released on PVE server 35 using dino gates with a stone roof. This allowed me to have a cage that was 3x5, making it easier to catch them.
Per the Trapper Quetz. You mention that if you move with a quetz in the cage, he will glitch through the wall, yet you still use temporary walls to enclose him once he's in the cage. My quetz catcher has all the walls already in place and I sprint until he glitches through the wall and then just stop, no need for placing walls afterwards. Allows you to catch the quetz from any angle, instead of needing it to fly into the back of the cage. Actually, I use dino gates on front back and sides to save on structures since a quetz can't fit through them, and build one wall up the side to allow for placing the ceiling. Lowering the foundations down far enough so they are under the level of the platform eliminates the need for a hatch frame that some people use to mount the quetz. On one server, I built the cage underneath the quetz platform sorta like your harvester, with dino gates the same way. Was useful for flying down on top of a quetz to trap it, with no views obstructed with a giant cage on the back. A couple issues though, couldn't pick up anything with the quetz because of the structures underneath. Also, if you stood under the quetz when you knocked it out and it fell on you, it would push you through the floor. Corrected that by placing one ceiling in a corner, one wall up from the floor and stood there while knocking out the quetz. Didn't need a ladder to get back up to the top, since jumping up at the quetz's foot would allow you to mount the quetz. The under quetz cage was 4 walls under the ceilings on the edge of the platform.

Gg - subbed. The harvester is genius. Btw you don't need to build walls during a quetz capture. Build the whole thing and fly it through the quetz then get out the saddle. Clip mechanics do the rest. I build the 3x3x3 on a pillar with a hatch frame floor so I can shoot it and access its inventory from below. This just prevents you ending up stuck on its wing once its unconscious.
OverrideStructurePlatformPrevention=true On the bottom of the first section in gameusersettings.ini and the server will put it in the right spot on start up. If you put it anywhere else the server will not register it
You can sink a foundation with only a single pillar and a fence foundation. 1. Place fence foundation, bearing in mind the fence foundation should be placed where you wish the half-way mark to be on a regular foundation. 2. Snap a pillar to the fence foundation, which will snap at approx. half height. 3. Any foundations snapped to that pillar are fully sunk as shown in the video.
The trapper saddle doesn't work anymore? A male 75 quets just keeps glitching out of the trap [im moving slowly, not sprinting, [yes he's agitated too] but he just moves through it when i move a few inches, I think it was patched. The quets does stay in the trap, but if I move my quets [while he's angry] [without sprinting] he glitches through the walls. Everything is made of stone.
I can move maybe an inch, which, in ark is basically nothing, since dinosaurs are quite large. So yea, might as well be ANY movement makes him glitch out. sometimes he'll stay for about 3 seconds and I can move him a decent amount, but otherwise he just glitches and flies to this one area and goes in circles and never ends aggro for about 10 minutes.
Ya you can no longer move while the quetz is trapped Agitated or otherwise, just leave it in there and don't fly. Gotta tranq it where you catch it now, as long as u don't move it cant get out. I caught 2 quetz this way today. also when it passes out it will stay in the trap and u can tame it there IF you don't move your quetz. (Edit- I am on the PC)
Yea, but you'd probably have to bring an argy to get prime if you can't obtain Rex kibble. The box trap is still really good for getting Quetzalcoatls, just not as good as before.
Thanks for the update, I just solo tamed my first quetz after several attempts. Once I'm lv80 I plan on getting a couple more with the trap. I'll make sure to have everything with me so I can just stay in the air.
Ik I'm 6 years late, but there are 2 obvious other options, flying mobile base, and hangar, as you can make a decent base with a bunch of foundations and necessary things, or use it as a hangar for some of your other dinosaurs, or also people have been making bombers with them, and if what your trying to build doesn't fit in block limit (if it's still 40 definitely) as long as your device (or if it's pc only pc) can handle it, I bet mods would work splendidly
So I followed you fortress build to a T and my quetz will not move, not sure if it was patched or if I did something wrong but I was quite meticulous to build exactly the same as the video, any thoughts? Had to tear down to move again.

Just build your "scoop" so it goes under the left rear claw of the quetz. You can then pick up your doed, anky, beaver, or whatever. All you need to do then is drop them onto the platform. No need for a rider.
I guess this was before patch because dinos weight is counted for now ,unless you build a pillar with a ceiling on top then strangely weight isnt counting anymore and its more effective to build ramp and forges on the quetz or he would get full way to quickly.
Each dinosaur has its own weight, no matter how much it is carrying itself. Carrying them on the platform, however, allows harvesting any amount of materials without them adding to the Quetzal's weight limit. If you take anything out of them (let's say, metal from an ankylo), you now need to store it somewhere else, but if you do so in the Quetzal's inventory, or any inventory of structures placed on the platform, they will now count. You can transfer the items to other creatures, but it won't get past their weight limit. They only carry more than the limit if the material is harvested. Since very few creatures carry more than their own weight by default (but if you want one, go for Castoroides), it's best to keep the materials in the inventory of the creature that obtained it. Therefore furnaces wouldn't be of much use, since the metal weight would eventually overload the Quetzal.
+D Hunt (DHunt420) There are 3 ways to get around this. 1-Mount the Quetzal, whistle follow to Ptera/Argent, mount Ptera/Argent and whistle follow to the Quetzal. Best at ground levels for safety reasons. 2- You can also mount a creature that is stationary in the Quetzal and whistle so the Quetzal will follow it. Advantage is safety at any height, disvantages are requiring a Patform-Saddle (since no creature other than humans can stand on other creatures without platforms), and enough room, of course. 3- Just fly up high enough so the Quetzal won't be able to detect any land and park it here. Note: All flying creatures park after being dismounted (unless following something), the Quetzal is special because it won't do so imediately after the dismount, and only if players are at least a bit distant from it. But it does, so don't get fooled.
Quetzals are also a bit dangerous in that they may choose to land somewhere that's quite a ways off from where you left them if you don't land them. I've had them fly totally across the map and when I found them they were still flying away. I never leave a quetz flying if it isn't following something, just too dangerous and unpredictable.
Also, when taming gigas, there's a high chance they'll bite them if you get too close. Having it enclosed allows you to tranq the giga while chasing it until it gets close sufficient to bite you, you just mount your Quetzal then. The fortress also still works fine if you are not facing directly to the turrets and on land (in case which your wings won't show). Considering you can't have turrets on Creature Platforms anymore, you have 7 more structures (counting 4 Turrets, 1 Generator, 1 Cable and 1 Outlet) to protect the Quetzal's head and maybe one of the wings.
I haven't got ark for console or pc yet, but I do have it on mobile and when I get it for ps4, im going to play on a PvP server all the time and my only house is going to be a quetzal base with a secret trapdoor under my beds and in the secret area is going to be assloads of thatch and tek armor
This is great! Thanks for the guide, I really like the harvester, I didn't think you could harvest from the back of a quetz, I definitely learned something about those hitboxes. It does seem to me you're pretty S.O.L. if you're alone and don't have somebody to ride the quetz and the anky at the same time in case you get knocked off. But that's the risk you run I guess. Your fortress is super scary, I wouldn't want to face that in PvP
Note: You can operate the harvester's scoop alone. Place it more or less in the legs of your collecting creature, and mount said creature. Even if encumbered, it will now stand on the scoop. Dismount it and ride your Quetzal.
