I've been struggling with hitting the ball relaxed for some reason as soon as I go to hit it, I stiffen up and rush. Any tips on how to stay relaxed and keep my eye on the bal because I also see myself closing my eyes on contact
It’s difficult to say without seeing it first hand however just keep practising and don’t worry about missing I’m guessing you’re stiffening up because your worries about missing. Put the reps in and you’ll trust yourself more then hopefully be able to relax and get a cleaner strike.
Hi Dan, could you please do some tips/drills for scoring in the smaller six and seven-a-side goals, it's much harder to get past the keepers in those? Cheers
Hi Luke, this isn’t something I’m very experienced in I’m afraid didn’t play too much 7 a side. But potentially fake shots to move the keeper first to create more space in the goal.
Glad it’s helpful, don’t worry we have all been there, my advise when you go through a period like that is to get some metrics you can aim for in training and games. For example 10 shots on target in training or 3 shots on target in a game, this way you focus on the process not the outcome and you’ll be back scoring in no time 👍🏼
what helped me get better at everything related to striking the ball including passing is.. believe it or not - watching roger federer. the idea isnt that different except you dont use a raquet you use your foot. what federer does is imagine the trajectory and think only about the point of contact you need to make with the ball in order to send it where you want, what your swing should be to aim it that way, power etc etc. in comparison what most do is try to slam the ball with power and play very linear thats more like baseball isnt it and looks just as wooden. tennis is about finesse just like football
