One of our fan favorite segments "Mount Rush-Moments" RETURNS along with J.R. Howell as we give out Top 4 things we want to see programmed at the 2024 CrossFit Games!
1. Atlas stone style speed ladder either with actual atlas stones or sandbags. Similar format to the previous barbell speed ladders with 3-4 rounds and cutting down to an eventual top 5 but you could play with either increasing weights or the height of the platform (or both). 2. Pursuit style event where you have 3 sprint couplets that are all very different movements but would take a similar timeframe (2-3mins). At the completion of each couplet every athlete has to wait 1 minute until they start their next couplet. As an example if you finish couplet 1 in 2.12 you start couplet 2 at 3.12 on the clock but if you finish in 2.15 you start couplet 2 at 3.15. You could have a situation where Adler and Medeiros get a small 7-10sec lead across the first 2 couplets but the final couplet is Echo bike and rope climbs and you have Roman, Dallin, Hopper and Fikowski coming to hunt them down. I think the anticipation of that brief period where athletes are waiting in pursuit would have the crowd going nuts. It also removes the unknown we had last year in the intervals event where we had to wait for the all the times to be added up to confirm placements, whoever crosses the finish line first at the end of the of the final couplet wins the event. 3. A death by final event. My first choice would be a barbell cycling complex like Macho Man where the weight could go up every few rounds. 4. Kettlebell Farmer's Carry Hold Elimination. Everyone goes until 5 athletes fail and are eliminated, the remaining athletes get a 30sec rest and step forward to the next weight up. Keep eliminating 5 each round until the top 5 fight it out for the win.
I like the idea of the swim race for many reasons but one is attachment to the Olympics this summer and that the Games overlap this summer on the final weekend. I wonder what else could be overlapped with the Olympics on that same weekend 🤔
Physical 100 1st season had the never ending rope and they had to climb the furthest they could. The flight of Icarus SeungYeon Choi does the swim against current in her training 🤨
@getwiththeprogramming I really like both ideas, especially the endless rope! It would be quite fun to watch if they were like going by 4 or more if possible...
Just catching up I love Chases swimming suggestion. It rewards the great swimmers. We have weight lifting, gymnastics and running specialists, why not swimming? The swim event from 2022 was a ski event.
Turkish getups would be the most boring movement programed since the marathon row... Sometimes, people get high smelling their own farts when making up content.
@@abstractgeniuscommentsbut how will you broadcast it? The event mentioned will either be multiple people going at the same time which is hard to follow or 3 platforms going down to 1 but that would be painfully slow.
I think something like strongman, have to move several odd shapes and varying weight objects a certain distance. Maybe even thru a tight doorway. Or something like 10 grocery type bags of varying weight. The athletes can decide how many to try and carry at once. Do they go as many as possible or go light and run back?? Hmm. Sandbag over bar to test power output. How about varying weight sled pushes. Have several sleds that get heavier.
I will say, one thing I would like to see programmed is a workout that begins with a suicide run of 100 meters, in 10 meter increments, all the way out to 100 meters and back down to 10 meters, immediately into a 100 meter suitcase carry kettlebell walking lunge with heavy kettlebells (100/70).
I did Masters fitness collective a couple years ago and there was a swim EMOM like 50 meters every 2 minutes and they kept pulling the slowest every round so you had to send it but not too hard and then try to hang on without burning out. It was a mind game cause you didn’t really know how fast others were going so you would just sprint and try to hold on every round. It was awesome. People started really slowing down paddling and the best swimmers survived.
I gotta say, it’s pretty annoying that CF games was initially kind of vague and stated that nearly all events would be in Dickey’s Arena, and now they are dropping that they do have outdoor plans…and also annoying that they decided to release more tickets. Why withhold them initially? I miss Madison more and more.
They’ve said since the begging not all of the events would be at Dickies. The extra tickets were from tickets NOT claimed by qualifying Games athletes so they released the ones they held for potential athletes friends and family. Do some research before you just pop in and complain about things you don’t know all the details about.
@@getwiththeprogramming you’re right, I clearly didn’t have all the information and I’m just frustrated I couldn’t get tickets when I had the chance, I guess. Thank you for clarifying for me.
@@getwiththeprogramming I always miss the live videos because I work nights in the ED so I am often a day late! lol. Thanks for keeping me up to date and letting me air out the frustrations with ACCURATE info. I love the podcast.
Love the swimming sprint idea, although Castro doesn't seem to like events that are straight comparisons of Crossfit athletes with specialists. People will say the CF athletes times compare so badly. Personally I think that's a big mistake, however.
5K, max snatch, max clean, max clean and jerk, max distance handstand walk… we’ve tested plenty of specialist events and he programmed them. It’s on the table
Chase great show Could you please consider doing a show on how you would program a 2-3hr stadium crossfit compertition. something sililar to giants live in the UK but for crossfit. I feel like this would be a unique way to express crossfit and fitness in a more traditional sports viewing time frame. thanks mate
Another terrible decision to execute today's workout instead of watching this live! 3 Sets of: 400m Run Then 3 rounds of: 12 KB Swings (53) 8 Burpees *with 2-min rest between sets.
Sat 6/22. Complete as many reps as possible in 14 minutes of: 1,200-meter ruck 24 toes-to-bars 12 push jerks Max box step-ups with your ruck in the remaining time W: 125-lb barbell, 30-lb ruck, and 20-inch box M: 185-lb barbell, 45-lb ruck, and 24-inch box
The only thing I want programmed at the games is to have as many, if not all of the events as masss start. Having all of the heats is so boring (i still watch them all though) humans just want to see people race each other not a clock and have to compare times #lettheathletesrace
