Great video! The fish in the tank with the Amazon swords are they sword fish?...lol And are you planning on selling them on the website? They're beautiful.
8 pound bag on amazon right now for 24. Thinking about using some on my new build. Don;t need neutral PH and don't want to use fertilizer root tabs and daily dose.
I used flu all stratum for my ghost and cherry shrimp tanks. They were unhappy with it, the parameters were probably messed up. Now I have a cherry shrimp army of 50+ with AQUEON plant substrate and they are neos
That substrate is named after Rio Escuro in Brazil. Escuro in Portuguese means dark. And of course cafe means brown. I don’t speak Portuguese but it’s similar to Spanish. Anyhow, I appreciate how informative your videos are. I like going back to your older video and then coming back to your newer videos just to see the difference in your delivery. Great job!
So it is okay to use fluval stratum for Neocaridena? I want a planted aquarium for shrimp but i can’t decide between fluval stratum or sand. I want it to look cash money
My shrimp tank is organic potting soil under an inch of construction sand. Heavily planted, tap water brought up to 200ppm TDS with shrimp salt. Amanos and Orange Pumpkin Neocaridina All my shrimp are healthy, happy and came from Flip. LOL
This is probably one of the most over look aspects of the hobby!! When it comes to Caridina, substrate truly is the bones of your setup! Don’t skimp out on it. Plus one for Brightwell. Like in the video I am also using the Rio Escuro F and having great success. Well worth the money!! I’m only using 1/4-1/2 inch covered on the bottom of 40g and 20g tanks. Very little detritus build up and tanks are thriving. Brightwell can sponsor me any day 😁
For neocaridina, which like higher PH, you mentioned that they like higher ph, however, if you have a lower ph tap water what should you use? You suggested inert substrates for neocaridina but I thought that they like higher PH...
Yes you do want to use an inert substrate because and active substrate will lower your PH. If your PH is already low and you want to raise it there’s a few things you can do. Certain types of rocks will raise the PH like crushed coral, seashells and also limestone. RO water changes PH as well.
Eco complete original is black. I am planning on getting blue shrimp and wondering whether black or red is best. I am planning on getting red, blue, black, white, and yellow neocaridina what do you think I should use then?
Question I’m starting a beginner shrimp tank with Ghost shrimp as my starter buying about 15 in a 20 gallon. My question is can I house them with any specific fish that won’t harm them?
After watching this video again, i realize, what he, Rob did, his skin, eyes, still look a person who have more sleep, but look good and very healty, maybe he doesn't care shrimp color only, but his skin too 😅
Hey ewrey one I have a sand ho is buying to mycicljds and is called fore ciclidsand and it are doing water harder of kh called here in sweden and wonder if that can give problem with shrimps like anemones and red cherry shrimp if you know what imean
Great video! I’ve got an empty 20g I’ve been thinking of setting up as a shrimp tank. I have really hard water, though, so a few questions; How long does the PH effect last? Do you have to eventually replace it? If the tank is planted that could be a real hassle. How do you keep PH down once the effect is gone?
There are a few inert varients that would work. I think one is samuri soil or something like that. I've used Fluval Stratum before for neos too although it's not ideal
@@LupDiesel Thanks, i'll look into it for my smaller tank. did end up going for Dennerle NutriBasis 6in1 for my large tank, says that it's supposed to be safe for shrimp but doesn't really list the contents. Not sure if i want to put shrimps in it but i'll wait a few weeks and do some tests first.
I have to say that we used pool filter sand with simple easy plants... wisteria, a few smaller swords and a couple unknowns, minimal ferts... when I remembered and medium lighting and had amazing roots and growth! Also now using black diamond blasting sand and our plants are beautiful....
hmm question i have a 4ft blue dream shrimp tank and kinda new to shrimp, i have about 10kg of mopani wood in there for a amazon look would that hurt them?
