Paradise Meadows farm is my favorite of the region. Having the workbench that close is a must for a long stay + bunny grove nearby, deers nearby, occasional wolf which I count as food source as well.
It's probably the best for long stays in Mountain Town eh? I love the Milton House, but once you've run out of packaged food the trek for more becomes quite long. Thanks for watching!
I like It because you can run deer at wolves from both sides of where they patrol. If you get a wolf to kill a deer and then take it out with an arrow before it can get you, you can clear them out pretty steadily. Then when cooking is level 5, you can eat all the wolf meat! And with the workbench make an awesome wolf coat! I really love this location. 😂
I found a hunting knife stuck into the side of the lectern in St. Christopher’s Church in my last run! Also, you can search around where the pedals would be on the piano and there’s a ‘stash’ of some items behind it. Food, clothes, maybe matches. It also acts as a storage bin!
I actually had fun making a base in the Trailer past the Church on my current Stalker run. It's cramped and only has an outdoor fire barrel, but you have rabbits, ptarmagins, and deer (and maybe a few wolves) right on your doorstep. The entrance to HRV is nearby for some cabin fever reduction. The biggest downside is that it's not nearly as centralized as the Farm, but it's certainly a nice little place.

You can make an indoor fire in the Paradise Meadows Barn, by the workbench, but only on the snow covered floor. The Milton house could have had a lower rating due to lack of food nearby. I only ever use the living room. It could have been just one room with that nice cabinet in the corner. Its a storage place, not a true base.
Choosing between Paradise and Milton was tough. If the workbench was inside, I would have chosen Paradise. The ultimate factor that tipped the scale in favor of Milton for me, is Paradise has a really junky and trashed interior with limited/annoying storage options. Milton actually looks nice and has opulent storage options. Pleasant Valley Farmstead is still the best one I've found so far, and having explored most of the easy/intermediate areas, It's likely the best to be found. Simply just the most complete home base.
Great video as always! I stayed in Mountain Town not too long ago when I played and I have to agree that Grey Mother's House is the best base in that region.
Yeah. I generally do Mountain Town as a 'one and done' region and rarely return unless I'm after lead or going to Hushed River Valley. But yeah, Grey Mother's House is my #2 pick for the best base in the game. The Forge at Spence's might not be that accessible but you can easily get there in less than 1 day of travel and having to hoof it up to the trailer or over to the farm to get a workbench isn't that onerous. In my opinion, the only place that is better than this is the Farmstead in PV for a permanent, long term base.
Anyone else have a bug that doesn't let you click on animal carcass? I'm working on my 500 days survived and hunting is becoming a problem because I can't harvest animals.
