I am a huge Foredom fan and love your equipment but I have to say that this one has be baffled. Why would you call a buffer/grinder a bench top lathe? The definition of a lathe is the following not according to me but according to Cambridge English Dictionary. Lathe - a machine for changing the shape of a piece of wood, metal, etc. that works by turning the material while a sharp tool is pressed against it. Again, just not sure why you would call a buffer a lathe?

Thank you for your feedback and for being a dedicated Foredom fan! We appreciate your enthusiasm for our equipment and your keen observation regarding the terminology we use. You are correct that the traditional definition of a lathe refers to a machine used for shaping materials by rotating them while a sharp tool is applied. However, in the context of the dental industry, the term "lathe" has historically been used to describe equipment that performs similar functions, such as grinding and polishing, even though it may not fit the classic woodworking definition. Our use of the term "benchtop lathe" for this particular product is influenced by its versatile applications in various fields, where it is commonly used for grinding and polishing tasks. We hope this clarifies the rationale behind the terminology. Thank you once again for your support and understanding! - Team Foredom

@@ForedomElectricCo Thank you for clarifying Foredom's stance on your terminology. With that said thank you for introducing me to a different context of the word and being used by a different field then I would be used to. I am always interested in learning things new and you definitely taught me one today. I would have never thought that the term "lathe" would be differently in the dental field. Thanks again for clarifying, Keep making awesome equipment, and can't wait in till the 90 degree head hand piece comes out!!
