MNYankee normally the commercial breaks are between innings when the pitcher is warming up or when the pitcher gets changed

My 5 toughest, and I wore the collar against them all were: Jim Todd when he pitched for Quincy; Terry Forster when he pitched for Appleton; Don Hood when he pitched for Dallas; Vic Albury when he pitched for Charlotte; and Gary Lavelle when he pitched for Amarillo. There were three future MLB stars that I wore out--Ed Figueroa, Doug Rau, and Goose Gossage. Against Goose, he walked me twice, and I got a single and two doubles in 2 games against him, both when he pitched for Appleton. I could hit sliders and fast balls, but Uncle Charlie was my kryptonite. FWIW, Forster loaded the ball when he pitched in the Midwest League.

What Minor League promotions amd gimmicks did you like? What did you hate? What are some simple things Minor League owners and/or fans could do to make the players feel better without breaking the bank? What's your opinion on sidewinder pitchers, submarine pitchers, and knuckleballers? Has there ever been a soft tossing pitcher that just gave you fits? What do those pitchers do that makes them so effective? As an Indians fan, Paul Byrd and Josh Tomlin come to mind as guys who look like they're unhittable at times despite looking like softball pitchers. Also, how would you change baseball? I would like to see 5 game series instead of 3 and wrap them around every weekend. I think it would make series more meaningful, give regular off days, and reduce travel time amd cost while losing the most poorly rated and poorly attended games.

Scherzer is a top pitcher, but the Nats have always scored for him. When you are great and you are up by 3 or 4, you become even more relaxed and in the zone. Aside from this season, deGrom went into every game knowing he had to pitch shutout ball, because the team rarely scored for him. Imagine always having to keep less than 3 runs on the board in every game? the guy has been under extreme pressure every time out. This season, the Mets are scoring more runs, but still, not as much for deGrom. If he were pitching for Houston, LA or the Yankees, I'm sure he'd have at least one 20 win season. Although I'm a stupid Mets fan, I'd probably opt for Scherzer over deGrom, because Scherzer was/is an 8 inning pitcher almost every time out. deGrom is just a shade short of that. Defense has a lot to do with it too. Scherzer usually has a good defense behind him while deGrom has had bad defenses, which translates to more pitches.

Are there bench coaches in the minors that make those decisions?

Thanks Matt.....good video! I think a lot of players have at least one pitcher that owns them I remember mine to this day. I batted right but did terrible against lefties - I played against this one guy (lefty) for about ten years he wasn't super fast but had a nasty cut fastball that broke at the last split second and ever pitch seemed to be low and away (just below the knees) my weakness and had a odd release to where I had trouble picking the ball up as he released it. I had maybe two hits in ten years aahhh!
