I feel like Kraken Royale and Tacticooler is a great combo as it allows the Kraken to play hyper aggro without any fear of a long respawn time and if the other players die they can get quick jumps to objectives from the Kraken especially in Clam blitz the ultimate hyper Aggro combo

I like Kraken/Bubbler. The Kraken can push the enemy team back, and it allows the Bubble user to place the bubbler much further up than before. As a bonus, the Kraken can even retreat and end the special in the safety of the Bubbler.

Me and my friends had a comp idea called "BBCC" which stood for bubble, breaker, crab, and cooler. We never fully used it but if all 4 were popped it could decimate any splat zone locking down most locations (all hypothetically)

I think wavebreaker, killer wail and inkstrike actually combo really well into each other, wave breaker becomes impossible to jump over if the waves alternate, and the other two cover an immense amount of space

One underestimated combo in my opinion is crab and bubbler. It's always nice to give the crab more hp 🙂

Another great combo of the same special is double Wavebreaker. Not only do you control an even larger area of turf, but you'll have the enemy team in a bullet hell chokehold trying to dodge both waves. Especially devastating in zones and imo one of the easiest special combos you can get away with in solo que. All you need is a 2nd wavebreaker weapon and to throw yours down as soon as the other person does

While I'm not sure it's a good idea, a personal favorite of mine is Crab Tank and Ink Vac, I like it in the sense that the Crab can push forward while any specials that try to get rid of it get taken in by the Ink Vac for a counterattack, really gives a nice use for Ink Vac with how situational it is, because you're bound to get some enemy Ink when people try to focus the Crab and get quickly shut down immediately

Me and my team have this one weapon combo we like to run called "The Golden Weapons" (and yes, it is a ninjago reference). The combo was that we all ran the golden arrow spray and it was usually used on turf war or splat zones. Now I know that this may not seem so threatening, but think about it like this: Your playing splat zones. Once the match starts, you and your team runs for the middle. You strangely take it with no resistance from the enemy team. After about 10 to 15 seconds with no sign of the enemy, you then see 4 enemy booyah bombs simultaneously fly at you from over the horizon.

A cool Tri-color combo for grabbing Ultra Signals is Ink Vac + Big Bubbler. The Ink Vac can not only help the bubble user get into mid safely, they can also protect them from most anyone who gets inside the bubble, and protect the bubble from some devastating attacks (like Booyah Bomb). As a bonus, the Ink Vac is likely going to have a full blast to throw out, which can easily take out those who rushed the bubble. It was crazy fun to pull off with my brother yesterday, and if set up right that's a lot of health for the defenders to blast through (unless they have the right equipment, like Tri-Strike or melee weapons)

Double big bubbler: in the recent splatfest, in tricolor turf war, my team used a double big bubbler to get the ultra signal, it helped a lot with the other teams constantly shooting

Tacticooler x Tacticooler is fun as hell. Double soda combo goes hard since it supports itself perfectly, especially with Beakons thrown into the mix. Only downside's that your team ends up with less offensive specials for big plays.

For double crab, its basically "If one is good, more must be better!" kinda deal. Though, to make it scary, my mind went to Crab + Big Bubbler combo. If anyone wants to try and contest that duo, they'd be insane or running a lot of object shredder. Another duo could be Ink Storm with any of the aggressive Specials, like InkJet, Zipcaster, or Crab. Though this setup is for Tower Control. The Storm pkayer hucks the special so it travels the same directions as the tower, acting as chip damage for opponents trying to take it, while the aggressive special applies pressure.

Now since the meta is a lot more diverse, I would love to see a sequel to this video. Just saying it would be good content

me and my friend in tricolour would use booyah bomb and bubbler to get the signal, or on anarchy modes to get the objective, the disadvantage though is in case the bubble gets killed then you need to re-farm the booyah bomb

Tacticooler also pairs great with Inkjet or Zip. The insta respawn is super helpful

I feel like kraken tri-strike could be a good combo, kraken goes in and distracts the other team while tri-strike helps the rest of the team get into better positions and more in areas crucial for winning

While the recent crab nerfs have somewhat balanced its effectiveness on the frontlines, I think it still needs one or two more to ensure that simply using another crab doesn't just help to enable the other. A change to the firing mode itself, be it range, range windup or fire rate, would greatly help it to be directed more around backline play like the recent patch notes seem to have pushed it towards.

last night, me abd a friend were playing tricolors with a little strategy we cooked up . i played vjr, he played aero mg . i would rush the ultra signal, deploy my big bubbler, then he would reefslider in to take care of any opponents who attempted to enter the bubble, then cleared them off with the chip damage . i suppose something like kraken or booyah bomb would probably be better for this though lol

A tip for tacticooler users: Your’s special’s problem is that everyone in your team. How to fix it? Place it in the place where everyone pass by! And by that, I mean - your spawn

One thing about Double Crab that confuses me is the fact that Double Splash specifically is the meta. Like part of me would think Splash + Dualies for a double-crab comp would be more popular or something.

One of the combos that me and my friend used in turf war matches was inkstorm and wave breaker. It is a very good combo because not only the ink storm is giving damage to enemy team, also covering the turf around them into ink which makes them walk slowly, and the wave breaker alowds to kill the Enemy team easily, since they are trying to escape and they forget that the wave breaker is active

I think very good combo is Reefslider + Booyah bomb/tri-strike Bcs u can have invisible Reefslide But It is more of a tip for reefslider users than a combo

I know this video doesn't really talk about special balance a whole lot, but since I've come up with all these ideas I might as well put them down here. Maybe I'll copy and paste this comment when Chara makes another special balance video, but for now my ideas stay here. Now that all that's out of the way, I'm going to try and rework/fix the weak specials so they're not as vulnerable and/or weak. Inkjet gets a side dash (like the flying octarian) and armour plating which would be almost exactly like Ink Armour. The Inkjet projectile has faster speed and an increased overall damage radius. The Inkjet's "ink-haust" will paint a wider area, and the jump will send large ink droplets to the ground, giving it more painting capabilities but also possibly damaging enemies. Ink Vac gets a feature where you can keep charging the vacuum for the entirety of the specials duration instead of ending when the bomb is charged. Of course, the explosion won't go over the maximum size but it'll help cover your teammates for longer. It also gets improved movement speed and turning speed. Reefslider can get no endlag, an option to slightly turn the Reefslider's path and the ability to go up walls. The ink splatter as it drives by will also paint a larger area. The shark will destroy all sub-weapons that get near it. Ultra Stamp receives tons of object damage. Going into squid form and then attacking will trigger a spin-attack, doing 80 damage to players as well as knocking them back a decent amount. The throw mode will bounce twice, hitting the ground three times and doing 200 damage each impact. The throw mode bounce can be bounced off walls to change direction. Killer Wail's damage is multiplied by 1.3, and the beams move faster. An upgrade to the targeting system now allows you to lock-on to players with less precision, giving you more freedom to look and move around while using the special. Wavebreaker gets double health, slightly increased range and slightly increased damage, keeping it a three-shot but giving players more leeway when trying to combo with it. The location effect will stay on for longer and the waves themselves are somewhat taller, making the opportunity to jump over them even more smaller. Super Chump has two extra Chumps and wider paint spread, making the decision between shooting the player or the Chumps harder to choose from. The Chumps will also explode half a second sooner, allowing you and your team to move forward and capitalize on the Chumps faster. That's all I can think of for now, let me know if I forgot something or if I overbuffed/underbuffed one of the specials.
