Research at MIT by David Elliot showed that Markets are outside the NOISE RANGE when Bollinger bands are 0.8 SD & are 10 periods & price is trading outside the trending BB--no matter what the time frame( 5M,15M,1H,4h,Daily---etc.). Can I plot the Hull's Moving Average for a smoother and less lagging average (and for a plus, applying the Rate of Change on it as well) and then apply the two standard deviations for optimal results?
Sir, 10 period Bollinger band one SD in any time frame captures trend.Lot of work on this came out of MIT. If 1H & 4H trend is up one can safely enter on 15 minute chart,when 15 minute correction is over.Any suggestions? Traders biggest enemy is trend flipping on A dime(e.g. 1H/lower time frame trend).Trend on 4H chart is the best trend guide for majority of forex traders( if one keeps trades for 2-5 days). By the time trader realizes that trend on daily chart is up, market has already gone up about 3-5 days & if you ask supercomputer for the mathematical odds, computer tells you that odds are negative right from the start.Trend based on the last 5-10,four hourly candles has enough players/juice behind it so that it would not flip on A dime, so trader has decent chance to make something without buying overpriced asset. We seek your wisdom?

You did well by explaining the maths behind the indicator. Many other videos show how to use an indicator but if they don't explain the maths behind the indicator, viewers are likely to use it wrongly and get many false signals. Thanks for the video.

What about the %B indicator? Would this help anymore percentage wise on possibly determining Which way price action may go. I know there is no real way of telling this but when up the percentage better than Bollinger bands wood on their own??
That's a great bunch of information. The extreme opposite are the MOBO bands, .737 deviation. Typically rounded to .8. In some of that range bound price, I like to use a regression channel or even do an Andrews Pitchfork and drag anchor "A" to a point in space where the pitchfork has the best resolution. Wow. So you do all these for the love of knowledge. It is rare to find people like that. In your trading (assuming u still use price action) do you use fixed profit targets 1:3, 1:4 or do you optimize with line work?
Excellent video. I use Bollinger Bands for day trading stock options. I have experimented with many std. deviations. For me, a std dev of 2.2 seems to be optimal for me.

Well, it's not as good as it seems to be. Sorry to disappoint. I'm a little bit reluctant to share this kind of thing because people overestimate the power of these simpler techniques, and they tend to forget about the rest that is necessary to make a strategy work. With that said, I'm thinking of ways to build a strategy using these techniques. Not easy, but I'll try. I just have to finish the institutional trading books first.
