I love how jake was only concerned with what holt thought of him and doesn’t care about anybody else’s opinion...goes to show that he truly sees holt as a father figure rather then just captain *And that’s 3 oh damns sons*
@@movecount it's the best bottle episode I've ever seen. An interesting premise, A charismatic villain, and the most brilliant way of getting some criminal genius to confess, thinking he's gonna be seen as a lucky idiot.
@@lilchromie it’s such a good episode that it’s the one episode of the show I’ve watched so far.......I watch a lot to B99 clips on RU-vid but this made me intrigued enough to watch the episode
Hey, can you please tell me which episode was this? For some reason I have no memory of this clip even though I thought I've watched all episodes of B99
@@derrickpang3680 no cop talk is from season 1 where they get invited to holts party(episode 16 I think) and the gina charles incident is from relatively early in season 2, episode 5 I believe It was the episode where the IA guy that worked for wuntch showed up
@@CodeJazper no he is smart lol, he has great observational skills but that's not what sets him apart from everyone; its his ability to make the most unusual correlations (since he's usually thinking about some random thing when the solve occurs to him)
@@robagoreishi8419 its been shown in the show multiple times that he is actually quite stupid, its almost impossible to watch an episode without Jake stupidity in it. Show me one scene where he is all just smart without him being stupid.
The terry Kitten episode always made me wonder, did they not look for any medical records at all? He simply sat in a wheelchair and escaped that easily??? Seriously???
If the show has proven anything, literally every other precinct in New York is incompetent other than the 99th. They are either corrupt, lazy, or too inexperienced to do the job correctly.
@@minhvo8009 I thought about this a couple days ago when I was re-watching all the seasons and got to that episode, but good police work wouldn't just settle with a medical report provided by the suspect, they would contact the doctor that "signed" it, but since all of Terry's colleagues were just busy making fun of him they for sure didn't bother checking the alibi, which is beyond bad police work. I guess that like Dale said, the 99 is one of the few if not the only precinct to really do a good job, plus 20 years before when they were already being mean to Terry cause he was the rookie, and I imagine being black didn't help back then, they just saw it as "rookie screwed up massively rofl" and didn't even care about the case per se. Douches.
One thing I noticed in Jake's monologue is that Sterling K Brown's character only starts to crack when Jake calls him lucky. If you pay attention that's when his demeanor shifts from cool and confident to angry. Neat little detail that helps to make this one of the best scenes in the show.
I just love the scene right after his monologue . It's already morning , Jake and Holt have been up all night with the case and Boyle has just come in . They both look at each other as if they were born to do this job ❤️
While I love the Halloween/Cinco de Mayo Heists episodes I believe that “The Box”will always be peak B99. It’s pretty much got everything the show’s got to offer plus it really showcases how amazing of a detective Peralta is and can be! Also the dentist is pretty great too. Just watch him in the background everytime Jake and Holt leaves the interrogation room.
@@user-rm5hg1pc9c the one about the guy that killed her lover's husband, and cut his finger to make people believe the corpse was he's and not the husband's
He delivered it with confidence because he knew taunting Phillip about how lucky he was would make him snap. If he delivered it any other way, he never would've gotten the perp to confess.
That was the point. No murder weapon, blood, or evidence. The guy must be brilliant. Smart people hate being called or thought of as stupid. So Jake spins a tale of how lucky he got, because he could have easily been caught 10 different ways because he was a bumbling idiot, and that set him off.
He knew exactly what he was doing, he knew the guy would hate getting labelled as lucky when he was so meticulous in planning the perfect crime and eventually snap and confess
@@carlrevans here's something interesting when watching the episode when Holt mocks his status as a dentist you can can watch get mad about his intelligence being belittled
Ok top 5 should be 1. The solve in 'The Box' 2. The solve in 'The crime scene ' 3. The unsolvable from s1 4. Terry kitties 5. Jake and Mr.Santiago solving that robbery
the three “oh damns” is by far my favorite jake peralta solved case bc it really shows how smart and how great of a detective he is even though he acts like a child
Monologue was best. His ability to create scenarios was handy here. He was able to create a somewhat plausible scenario from limited evidence that would get under the perp’s skin and cause him to confess.
This is by far my favorite TV show ever. I really hope they don’t make this show too political in season 8 because of all the things that are going on currently.
They physically can’t follow your advice. In the context of the massive civil rights movement happening, not making the show “political” would be an insane political statement. The very act of making seasons 8 is a political action. What you want is for the political statement to agree with your politics.
The way he tries to imitate BARRACUDA always ALWAYS gets me! That's was such a ridiculously funny thing to do in front of your in law, especially when you're meeting him for the first time. LMAO!!😅
The dentist murder case is still so cool to watch, even though I've seen it so many times by now. It's shockingly realistic, too. Criminals who commit "The Perfect Crime" want people to know how they did it, but not have enough evidence to bring in the criminal, if that makes sense? He wanted Jake and Holt to know how he actually killed his partner but he didn't want to go to prison for it. So Jake's approach of accusing luck being on his side, thus dismissing his master plan, made him feel upset and forced him to snap. Incredible scene all around.
