My favorite Calligraphy book is the Calligraphers's Bible. I think it's a great book to learn the basics of different scripts what do you think about it bro?
I appreciate this thoughtful list! Thank you!🙏💕 However, I strongly disagree with your recommendation re: the Top Copperplate Calligraphy book. There is no better book on the subject than Eleanor Winters, “Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy: A Step by Step Manual”. She offers the student with little, to no, experience in calligraphy a vast foundation on the history, valuable tips on practicing, what tools are needed, clear exemplars, etc. An added bonus is that Ms. Winters comprehensive Copperplate manual is literally close to 1/3 the cost ($11.44) of the Yin/Yang Speedball text ($29.99). “If” one is already experienced in this script, then the book, “Copperplate Script: A Yin & Yang Approach”, simply offers an optional interpretation to the tried-and-true methods established by Ms.Winters for the last three decades. I own and have read both books. Along with thousands of my peers, I will always recommend Ms. Winters book as the “Copperplate Bible”. . . until perhaps Ms. Suzanne Cunningham or the talented Younghae Chung publish their own.
Well I was gonna be worried if no one disagrees with me! That's why are the comments, I have not much experience in Copperplate and it was the book I knew. I think Suzanne Cunningham like the book of Eleanor Winters. I will check it as soon as I can! Thank you for the feedback and #KeepWriting
Calligraphy Masters Ah! I adore Ms. Suzanne & have been blessed to attend one (& hopefully many more🙏) of her in-person workshops.💖 Indeed “she” is my Copperplate Script role-model and her calligraphy, coupled with her charm & beautiful personality, is your BEST resource to-date. 😁👌
HeidiBird Arts I see that you are a fan of Eleanor as am I. It was her book which started me off with copperplate. My manual is different but it is also for beginners, but you have to read the book first. Problem is most people just want to pick up a pen and start writing. That will only engender bad habits from the start. My new symmetry stops you from guessing. I have even worked out the width, which is a huge issue for beginners. My script is very different from Eleanor, it is a different approach. Geometry is key to my manual and as most people today have studied geometry it looks at using information the already have access to. I hope they give you some insight into the manual.
I’ve never heard of The Yin-Yang approach ??🤔 I love The Foundations of Calligraphy by Sheila Waters. I can’t wait to get my hands on Scribe by John Stevens🤗😍. I’m actually surprised you didn’t mention Elenor Winters Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy!! By far one of my top choices as a go to reference for copperplate❤️
I was supposed, but since another person mentioned it, I will keep it mind for an eventual part 2. Also that way you guys give me names, that I might not have known 😉🙏 P.s. see the description for a review of the yin and yang approach
It's a super awesome video and I think all of those books can make any person can learn the formation of letters, tools, how to use the tools and many more. I always wanted a video like this. Thanks bro! #keepwriting #truesupporters
I have The Calligrapher's Bible, which is one of my favorites, also I have one you haven't mentioned: Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy by Eleanor Winters, great book for any level. Thanks for your suggestions.
Ты говоришь про лучшие книги про каллиграфию, но кроме европейской традиции тут ничего нет. Так и пиши, что это лучшие книги по европейскому стилю. Того же gyōsho, за которым я сюда пришел, тут нет)
