get urself a volvo 480 man, it has funky pop ups and a decent engine, comes in a coupe too. Idk how good they are at drifting but I've seen a few getting spun and they look pretty fun
IMO the Z really came to light due to s13/14 chassis getting hard to find or too expensive to to spend on a drift middle. All while the 350 became cheaper. So inherently the culture moved to the next cheap rwd well balanced Nissan. Not a bad thing buts it’s been interesting to see it change.
They're the same price as a nice 350Z. I wouldn't recommend drifting a nice car... With that, the 350Z is up 90hp... BRZ = Fun Daily. Clapped 350 = drift car.
KaiserVonKrieg get a daily. Don’t build it yet. Trust me lolol you’re going to regret it. Once it gets to the point of unstreetable, you’re not going to have the time to save for a daily if you can’t get to work. Ya feel me?
Miatas are great beginner cars super cheap to maintain and yes their underpowered but learning in a underpowered car isn't all that bad being such a light car makes up for it
Before I watch the video I guess someone on this list, BMW E 36 Mazda maita, 350z g35 and then something from left field that I couldn’t guess maybe 240 or frs even
I grew up playing arcade games and my favorite game was the fast and furious 1 drift racing game. You could play against friends and I always raced in the desert race wars map and always used the legendary 350z. Literally played that game for 10 years growing up in cali at the mi amora pizza restaurant and never chose another car lol. So basically I can't wait to buy one and start learning cars fr with it
I'm thinking that I'll get the Mustang for a drift car and 350z for a track car. Then a 2003ish Ford F250 to tow them around incase anything goes wrong. I'd say it could be under $30k for those 3 and a used trailer.
I like how you say need for speed and forza for drift game. It’s the easiest games to drift on lol thats why I like Gta that had not a glimpse of drift into the game design or grand turismo where it’s super realistic meaning you can have too much grip or not enough and suspension specs changed the drift characteristics. Good Video games can give you the thought process to take back into the drivers seat. You learn about little tricks to prevent losing control which I personally correlate to IRL situations
My first drift was my 97 Civic with Acura type R engine swap.. My everyday car was nothing but metal, wheels, engine, nitrous, and steering wheel lmao R.I.P when I had to go into inspection worst day of my driving life 😢😢
I might get some hate for this but if u got a bigger budget u can get a 1st gen ctsv you can find them for 7k-12k cut the wheel wells put on an angle kit and weld the diff u got a full size drift sedan
BMW e36 or e46, sn95 mustang, na or nb Mazda Miata, Nissan s13 ( but they’re getting harder to find cheap), Nissan 350 or 370z, z32 Nissan 300zx, Infiniti g35, Toyota 86/brz/frs. Haha also some older Mazda mini trucks could be fun.
Ahm, i like the list though..... i would just like to call your attention on the Corvette. Keiichi Tsuchiya himself said the the 'vette is not for drifting? Any comments about this?
Let’s goooooooooo DRIFT VOLVO LIFE!!!! I’m using a Volvo 244. Same drivetrain and mostly the same chassis as the 740. Do y’all by any chance stock wheels in 5x108?
I'm looking for a drift car for a future project car and while you didn't put it on the list a Foxbody would be awesome. My daily driver is a 1991 F150 and they have the same block and similar engines so that knowledge would transfer to the Foxbody.
4yrs later and still the sn95/new edge mustangs are still getting shit and are still proving haters wrong. I got a 03 mustang passed down from my older brother it was both our first car. It’s the v6 (ik it’s G@Y). with a few weekends of wrenching I have gotten a spec stage one clutch kit, lowering springs and struts, drilled/slotted rotors, new OEM GT calipers, motor and trans mounts, high flow cats/cat back exhaust, and about $650 in cosmetic repair/mods. With all that together it cost me somewhere around $2500. When I drove it first it felt like a brand new car. The 94-04 mustangs are an amazing platform to get into cars and even drifting, Yes I know they are “sLoW 🤓”. When comparing cost to other starter platforms for drifting. Currently (2024) the VQ family is a great platform to start but 80% of them are just overpriced and beat. Beamers are in the same boat. It’s hard to trash the corvettes….. no explanation needed. Not saying “MUSTANGS ARE THE BEST” because they aren’t. If you’re looking to get into cars or drifting there’s plenty of great options. The mustang family is the best car for beginners in my opinion. They are fairly cheap and absolutely everywhere. parts are modular between them basically half of the mustangs pre 2005 are damn near identical, aftermarket support is so big you can build whatever type of stang you want. I’m not saying that the other cars in the video are trash (I really want a E46 or 370 in the future) but bang for buck a mustang will be a great choice for a first project.
