West Virginia is on the rise. I know what they have and the recruiting is going very well. Dont be surprised! Yes I am a life long born Wv fan but a realist as well.
High expectations for Boise State this year. But Boise St does not have a favorable schedule. Oregon, Wash St, Oregon State along with strong conference games. Also Malachi Nelson is unlikely to even start with Mad Dog Madsen at QB.
7 of their games are easy and should be wins. So their schedule is not as difficult as it seems and especially compared to other G5 schools hoping to get a playoff spot bid. Now more difficult than Liberty but not more difficult than the first school they face from the best G5 conference in the SBC with Georgia Southern. Four of five games Boise State is either barely favored, odds even, or barely underdogs. The only true game they will be heavy underdogs is at Oregon. Their conference slate is navigable and winnable and maybe lose 1 conference game and two non conference games. 8-4 or 9-3 and spot in conference championship game again is extremely expected as only have two tough conference games on their schedule. Even in the two conference games that they could lose one or both , Boise will be favored and as in the above original post/comment, Boise can’t be a darkhorse because expectations this season are high and for the team to challenge. Now Wyoming, Air Force, and Fresno State are absolutely guaranteed to be darkhorse contenders and potential contenders for a G5 playoff spot. I also think WKU, FAU, Navy, Army, CCU, JMU, Georgia Southern, Troy, Toledo, NIU, USF, Marshall, Ohio, UTSA are all darkhorse teams that could have stellar seasons that gets one of them in the 12-teams playoffs and possibly even win a playoff game or two.

NC State? Not likely. USC is hardly a sleeper, but would be a surprise. Boise State and Texas A&M could be sleepers. The G5 will get someone in, and the SEC will get a lot of teams. West Virginia I don't see at all. Kansas State could be a sleeper. Or Miami.
