The problem I see is that its thermo, it needs to be localized to do the joker face into white rather then entire hood changing black. It should just be the section of paint to reveal the art, so if its a partial reveal it hints, but not ruins the overall color of the hood unless its a full chroma hood that it just adds to the color regardless of how its thermalized.
Would be awesome for winter and summer, black and white, to have the car collect more heat by being black absorbing more sun in the winter and white to reflect heat and sun in the summer.
Genuis idea tesla should do this with their already salt proof abd snow abd winter proof paints and chassis and coatings they put on every single piece if the cars. Tesla is very expensive but if you look at everything they pit on them for prptection from elements and technology ect its actually a good deal for everythig that theh do that you dont see ir know about but jts there

would practical if you could create a mechanism to flash heat and cool the body of the entire car, can this paint technology be used on clothing, sneakers or bath tub. i could see that on the front face of a building if they could spray the cold/hot water from the top in intervals
I realize the video was uploaded 5years ago, if you are still reading the comments , all most 30 years ago I was working as a bodyman where we where doing custom painting, we had a couple of highway patrol cars for a demo corvett and a demo camero this was early 1990's we painted the cars with the normal looking paint that they would have had at the dealership for highway patrol vehicles we then painted over them with a heat sensitivity black clear, we then installed electric heaters in the doors, the hood and the hatch on the corvett and the trunk lid on the iroc camero, when they where heated to just above out side air temp to keep from getting to hot, the cars would change from gloss black into the 1990's highway patrol color scheme. I thought I might let you know as to not have to let your customer's to not have to wet down the paint to get it to change at a car show.

Yes, the options are true. But if you take it more serious, you can tell that: 1. If it's hot outside, and you go to the car wash, it will work, because the water will be always cooled off. 2. If the cops would follow you, I don't think that they will stay 10 hours behind you in the Car Wash, probably they will go away and you'll escape like a total badass. 3. It will be a bit impossible because ya' know.. You have a damn number plate. I mean.. It could work if you'd have the Heat Sensitive colour on the car and maybe the button hide number plate. (search on yt, if you don't know about it)
So it changes color only with hot water? So like i guess whenever it rains super hot rain is when you'll see the paint change in a real world scenario? Like i dig the concept but when the hell will you ever get a chance to see the paint in action other than in demonstrations? The hulk one was pretty cool but it changed back too soon. . These technically are called memory paints, they also have memory metals, which potentially have much bigger applications. Today were currently looking for a memory metal alloy (a better more cheaper one anyways) that will flex back to its original shape when hot water is splashed on it, others require simply water itself. This means anytime you get your car into a fender bender accident, you just splash hot water on the damage and it pops back into place, besides the needed paint job its as good as new again!!
