My son and I both took Columbia Outdry jackets on our Philmont trek. It rained heavily or snowed 5 days of the 2 weeks in the mountains. Not a drop got to our base layer, but the pit zips let us breathe and vent sweat and heat. A must have for extended hikes.
I think it comes with 0.3 filter and is good for the next two mutations beyond this season. So you should get a solid 3 mutation seasons out of this jacket.
I just purchased a Columbia Cushman for myself and Wildside for my gf to go skiing. Wish i saw your review first. Neither made the list :( They both have Omni tech and Omni heat however so cant be that bad.
as somebody who rides a motrcycle in all weather it is a shame their jackets for rain and warmth all have non removable hoods. you cant ride on a highway with a hood lol. they are missing the boat. i think they have great stuff but i cant buy it because of the hoods. they need a base omni tech and omni wqarmth shell that zips to a turtle neck and make the hood zip off. then i have the perfect shell for riding and hikingi had an omni tech and omni heat together in one jacket and it was a ebast. i used to wish so bad it didnt have the hood.i am intrigued by their bradley peak jacket but i wanted to see a vid of it, if they added oni warmth to it or had a model of tech and both i'd get em both. i never saw that titan pass tho it looks possible to i just wiodsh it wasnt reflective as i would also use it to hunt
Id say for what they do it makes sense to keep the hood unremovable to keep out as much cold as possible now they could go with a biker wear as a side jacket
Does the omni tech coating every flake off? I’ve seen some reviews on Reddit where people say the gold coating flakes off on their clothes like glitter.
From everything I have seen, it seems to hold up pretty well but it does look like the kind of application that would come off if you put it in the dryer. It looks heat pressed almost, so it would make sense that heat could make it break down.
I just picked up a columbia boulder ridge jacket at a resale shop, the inside tag says" core" and interchange. It has mesh lining on the side insides, I don't know much about these jackets and can't find any info on the one that says " core" do you have any information?
I felt that they were both very close in features and appeal to the same person which is why I decided to go with the water tight. I feel that it does what it does better than the evaporation.
