The problem with Belize, that I have heard, is that it is in the hurricane zone whereas Panama is just out of it. You mentioned the cost of property purchase, saying that Panama has an average cost of $300K. A popular resort area is the Pacific coastline about an hour west of Panama City and there are lots of nice 2 bedroom condos in this area starting less than $175K. Your prices are likely for Panama City. Even there, I have seen fair looking condos for under $200K.
I’ve enjoyed the show. I like the way you go through the financials and practical aspects of living abroad. Appreciate it. For your office studio, Acoustic tiles on the ceiling and wall opposite your desk, should make it sound less echo and hollow.
Great presentation! We bought our first property on Ambergris Cay in 2001 when the streets were dirt and named Front, Middle and Back street. our second in 2006. We looked in Costa Rica and are now just taking a look at Panama.
As a retiree looking for a 6-month rental, my preference would be Belize... but my budget says David, Panama may be a better option. Pls advise any comparable locations in Belize. Also, in Panama (if I decide to become a resident) I wont be double-taxed on my retirement income.
I’ve heard that Panama has the best program for retirees and International Livings top pick for 2022. My issue with Belize, so far, is the $200 fee each month 🤨 for continued stay. That seems overly strict compared to elsewhere. Most countries have at least minimum 90 days before having to apply for visa. You mentioned a special circumstance visa. Is the country considering changing that permanently to encourage those considering relocating with retirement income?
basically staying for a year for 2400 then apply for residency. I think that might be a bit cheaper than hiring an attorney. which is what you almost have to do in Panama. IDK what the details are but I am going to watch more videos and find out.
Love your videos. Very well done. One thing that really intrigues me is the language being English. I couldn't handle the Dominican Republic because I don't speak Spanish. The infrastructure on Belize worries me but I love the golf cart thing. I'm 62 , single/divorced. A good gym , nice beach, quiet area but not too far out. I small house or small studio or 1bdr works. Will have to look at long term rent prices also. In the DR for example renting is the best way to go. Keep teaching us about Belize Thanks
Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad that you appreciate my videos and are intrigued by the language situation in Belize. I appreciate your interest in learning more about the country!! Any questions I am happy to help
Appreciate the bias disclaimer at the beginning of the vid, but sheesh. In my humble opinion, makes absolutely no sense to compare the island atmosphere in Belize to the metropolis in Panama. Particularly when there are places in Panama- Bocas Del Toro and Boquete- which are much more comparable
There is no comparison Panama kills all the countries in central America and the Caribbean when it comes to good offers to live or vacationing. Next time compare Belize with Haiti and you will be get the results you are looking for.
Great point, Kevin. In my opinion would make the case stronger for Belize factoring this in. We will definitely do so moving forward thanks for the feedback!!
Without question for an American the English Speaking is number 1 !! I personally think the Dominican Republic is the most beautiful country. Awesome people and beaches. Santo Domingo is a fun city. The country has it all however the Spanish speaking
