I'm glad Niko got such a high rating even without winning a major. As someone who hasn't been around the CS community very long, he seems like a superstar among men. I have no doubt he'll win a CS2 major if the stars align roster-wise.

get_right was most definitely also a pure rifler, and he too was ranked nr 1 two years in a row by hltv

Kerrigan inspires me a lot. I don't expect him to make a list like this and I think he's ok with that. He supports his team, that's his job. But he can clutch and switch it up. No one can argue his jiggle isn't the most stylish and sexy thing in counter strike.

1. s1mple - insane highs for years and years 2. NiKo - best rifler in csgo 3. Device - Mr consistent with trophy cabinet to back it up 4. Zywoo - insane highs, just not as long as s1mple 5. Coldzera - played perfect cs for 2 years, always made the best possible play.

I was familiar with Zywoo’s game but I never realized he was #1 in 2019 (his rookie year) and 2020 and #2 in 2021 and 2022. The fact his lowest world ranking was #2 is actually insane. 🤯

Prime "KennyS" was unstoppable at one point. I remember him 1 vs 9 some games back in the early days of CS:GO. Back when csgopoker existed.

I could argue Device over Niko since Niko choked at so many finals, where Device was able to outshine everyone in his team most of the time and carry them through as the Starplayer where many others crumble.

I met device in cologne at the major in 2023 honestly just because of how down to earth the guy is and chill hes definitely my number 1(also met GeT_RiGhT, FL0M, Naf, electronic, shiro, blamef i.e. the 2023 c9 and australis rosters)

I think that coldzera's peak was better than NiKo's. Every time thay faced in 2016,17 and even 18 coldzera was thw better of those two.

Actually really good top5 and lovely analysis as well. Having played CS since around 2002 its nice to see the game still evolve. Gotta have to say that peak KennyS is still the most amazing thing ever seen but try to run that 15000 HP engine consistently is... as you said very difficult

Great video. Disagree with Niko, though... so few teams really clicking with him, so it seems he's not very good with team dynamics. And in my book it takes a lot more than great aim to be top 5. And there is no logical reason to put him above device, who's superior whether you're looking at ratings, HLTV player of the year placings, consistency, trophies, MVP awards...😊

Considering that Zywoo has only been in the scene for 4 years, his ranking is too high here. Someone like device who has been around the whole time, won the most trophies, majors, major MVPs in history should be above Zywoo no question. Niko not having a single major in his belt also brings him down the list. Device should be #2 and Niko #3

I know you can't really compare between games, but it'd be cool to see your thoughts on the best players of the pre-GO era, eg. 1.6, 1.5, maybe earlier - in the early 2000s. Back when NiP/SK were absolutely crushing. Other good teams I remember from back then were mouz, 3D, 4K, and that's about all I can recollect. HeatoN, Potti, XeqtR, more that escape me... 5. coldzera 4. zywoo 3. niko 2. device 1. simple Some notes: Simple is just the best player, hands down. Perfect hybrid player, awp and rifle. Is a primary awper on his teams not because that's his preferred role, but because he's so good at it there's no one else you'd rather have. It's the same effect with cold and zywoo. None of these 3 players are "primary awpers", they're the perfect hybrid super-star player (with simple and zywoo leaning more into awping). Which is what makes device and niko so unique to the list. Device isn't even the greatest awper ever if you ask me (that belongs to kennys), but he is the perfect fundamental awper. Plays everything to perfection so his shots are as easy as possible, while also having the skill to take over and win games for his team. His fundamentals are what truly sets him (and the rest of that astralis lineup) apart from other cs players. The rest of this list is dominated by the highest skilled players ever, but counter strike isn't only about mechanics. Niko is even more special because of his longevity as the greatest rifler ever. Since 2015 he's been in top player contention, arguably longer than simple (though never having as high of a peak). He's maintained his form for the greater part of a decade, as a star rifler to boot. He's not the kind of hybrid-superstar that allows for incredible peaks, as seen in simple, zywoo and coldzera, although no doubt he could have been had he decided on that route. The only reason why I rank him below device is accolades and his generally piss-poor attitude towards IGLs. Zywoo is #4 simply because he hasn't been around as long, and his rise has coincided with the general decline of the competitive level (peak csgo was 2018 with peak Astralis battling Liquid. 2019 was great in the first half because we saw the highest skilled lineup ever in Liquid, but the level of performance even then was lower than 2018. I mean 2019 ence and vitality competing for 2nd place in the world rankings? yeah, those teams sucked. Sad we never got to see peak astralis vs peak liquid.) Zywoo hasn't proven his longevity yet like my top 3.

Dev1ce as a teamplayer is top 1 by far, and is the goat 100% but as a only Awp player top 3 i would say!

I think olofmaister in the golden era of fnatic was too good. He deserve the n5.

Top 5 i too short, if we compare players like ones in this video, the were lots more GOATS at their peak, like Neo,Kennys, JW, Shox, Scream, Zywoo, Fiflarren, xizt, f0rest, get right, pashabiceps, snax, and so much more legeds that were total beasts on certain period of time.

Surprised to see Niko as number 3. He is an amazing individual player, but winning majors matters if you want to be remembered in the history imo. I would have Zywoo second and Device 3. Niko perhaps 4 or 5.

@6:40 - Pimp, I think you made a mistake here telling that Device never had peak as high as Kennys or Coldzera. Here we have fragment of an HLTV's article where "...he (Dev1ce) began to challenge for the title of the best performer in 2018. However, his amazing year, which would be worthy of the No.1 spot in any of the 2014-2017 rankings, simply wasn't enough in 2018." According to this, I understand that his 2018's form was better than all winner for mentioned years. Instead of Coldzera I would put get_right. Of course we can have an argument whethet GR has competed at the begining of CS GO where the player's were not on such a high level, but still I believe Get_Right is more worthy to be in top5.

I might be a little bit ethnicity biased as a fellow Serb, but for me NiKo is my all time favourite player, and my Esports idol. In Stocholm Major, with S1mple in prime, and NiKo in prime, I'd take Stocholm NiKo over any version of S1mple or Zywoo, since that kind of an impact as rifler is unheared of. Also this year, NiKo is close to no1. If Zywoo didn't play this good, NiKo would be no1. NiKo is 2nd best rated overall this year(as rifler). Also his form in Kato and Cologne, was insane. This current version of NiKo is also very scarry. By far the best rifler currentley. But I have to agree overall NiKo is no3. all time, behind S1mple and Zywoo. I hope he will make a good enoguh transition to CS2 to remain on the top of the pacm mechanicly and crosshair placment wise. If he does, he still has 2-3 top lvl years, like hltv top5 itw lvl years.

I may be a bit biased as I'm Danish, but: I find it somehow strange that Device, in a way, gets punished for being a good teammate. It's true that he rarely delivers insane frags or delivers an insane high individual performance. But if you're as good as, for example, Simple, you should also be good enough to make your team better. You should be good enough to demand the necessary space but not so much that it makes your teammates worse. Device has managed to strike a balance where he takes up a lot of space without it being at the expense of his teammates. How often have we not seen one of Device's teammates with the better weapon in an eco round, even though it cynically should be with Device? To omit team play from the equation, in my eyes, is to say it doesn't exist in CS. We know how important communication, a positive attitude, and so on, is, to help you to win. I would go so far as to say that Device has incredibly high stats despite being a team player. Sure, if you look purely at the mechanical and raw individual skills, Simple and Zywoo are better. But Device has been right below them for many years, despite being a team player. For me, Device is the GOAT. He has managed to win 4 Majors and a lot of other tournaments, maintaining an incredibly high individual level DESPITE being an amazing team player. My Top 5: 1. Device - 'Cause being a teammate counts. 2. Simple 3. NiKo 4. Zywoo 5. Karrigan - He is perhaps the only in-game leader who has managed to perform and adapt to the meta's again and again. While other in-game leaders struggle to make a comeback after being benched, he has returned again and again at the highest level. This requires a truly unique fundamental understanding. However, just like in football where defenders rarely win the Ballon D'or, I know this is controversial.
