Great video! I'm guessing this video was recorded pre-Johto, but with there was a much safer Koffing horde added in the Burned Tower basement, level 15-16 so they cannot have Selfdestruct for anyone out there wanting to shunt Koffing.

Well, good thing I caught my voltorb where it was at a lvl it didn't have SD. Found it on rt 110 in Hoenn while trying to shunt Plusle/Minun.

Tip for anybody shiny hunting hoppip now: the horde at 5 island no longer has rage powder! They now have memento, giga drain, bounce and worry seed. So your smeargle just needs imprison and memento now (I personally also imprisoned bounce so I didn't have to deal with the other hoppips having semi-invulnerable turns while catching my shiny). Also more general tip for shiny hunting: get a dex entry for whatever pokemon you wanna shunt by catching or buying it, and use the dex to its full extent. It can give you the level range of the pokemon you'll encounter in the horde and then you can see the 4 most recent moves it would learn up to that level to know what you'll be dealing with!

@@aznpholyfe6693 you can do that but you have to pay attention to the taunt wearing off and have to reapply it. imprison will stay active until the pokemon that used it switches out so make sure if you do the imprison strat that your smeargle stays in

there is another matching for this list. Shiny Ditto (Hordes). When I was 18k Ditto encounters in in Pokemon Mansion, it spawned and so far I only fled. My dumbass switched in my level 100 Glass Canon Alakazam to kill the other dittos off, expecting they´d copy me, yes but downscale to level 40ish. But that wasnt the case. They copied 1 by 1 my stats, so bad prep by me, so I was facing 5 glass canon Alakazams with psychic killing my team off. Fortunatly I barely was able to isolate and catch it without Masterball with like 50 hp left on my last Pokemon

I was wondering why you didn't mention Muk for catching koffing in pokemon mansion. Muk is a solution to your aformentioned problem of being poisoned as poison types can't be poisoned. On top of that it can learn imprison, take down, explosion, and momento. I personally still think pokemon mansion is a viable shunting location as it gives a 50/50 split for grimer and koffing if you want both. It also doesn't use leppa berries!

I remember losing a shiny tentacruel just because I wanted to carry two sweet scent mons and in the end knowing you can only use 6 sweet scents in one go no matter the amount of total pp you have

My dumb ass failed a SINGLE ENCOUNTER Smeargle by not thinking about the single PP sketch had and I lead with a quick ball throw. Wouldn't recommend it!
