Would love to see an updated version of this video as some of the Etsy shops linked don’t exist anymore and some of the Amazon items (like the small tips) don’t seem to sell very much either- shipping date was 2 months out. Love all of your videos, they have been so helpful for me as a beginner!
I can’t imagine diamond painting without a light pad! The eye strain…even for those with perfect eyes…really takes a toll over time. You don’t feel it at first but that’s exactly the same with carpel tunnel. Prevention is everything.
I just use a led clamp lamp from IKEA. It doesn't cost much orq take up space. I like a centered light but we're all different people and need different tools 😊
I'm a total beginner, literally just got my first kit for my birthday last month and completely fell in love with the process of diamond painting! I found your channel while looking for help on using washi tape to frame. I'm soooo glad I found your channel because it's really soothing to listen to while I work and I'm learning so much from you! I had no idea about all the different tools and things. I am going to take it slow, improving my tools, but I really appreciate the suggestions. I definitely need to upgrade my trays and storage. The kits from Michaels do NOT include enough little baggies for all the colors it comes with. Thank you!!!!
I've recently started diamond painting. My very first purchase was an easel. I have neck and shoulder issues. I found that hovering over the canvas was causing me lots of pain. The easel has helped immensely!!
I agree a decent tray is a must, I also got a storage system, the Elizabeth Ward system was $81.00 so I got a cheaper storage system and it’s way better than the bags ❤😊
I agree with the thinner multi placers. I order from Paint With Diamonds and they send both the dark or light wax. I def prefer the dark wax as you said it seems to use longer. I was using an little table lamp however i did get a light pad and it's amazing for darker canvases. These are all great recommendations! I have ordered a storage container from Amazon that holds 68 containers. They are small and look like tic tac boxes that don't hold a lot but with 68 containers i can fit most my drills in. My canvas sizes are usually 90x120cm. I also have found some great resin pens from Amazon that are so comfortable in the hands.
Hello. I am new to diamond painting and your video was very helpful for me. Your voice is pleasant to listen to and it doesn’t take you a long time to get your points across. Thank you. I have subscribed as well.
I love your podcasts I try to always look at one or two a week but recently I have been hospitalized which limits my ability to participate in crafting. I’ll never get well but when I am feeling okay I do many crafts. Enough abought me. You are a super great influencer in Diamond painting and so informative. Your personality is beautiful. Keep up with all your great work.
Thank you so much for your video. It was extremely helpful. I've been dp"ing for almost 3 years & like ideas about new products to use. I do have 1 suggestion for storage. I use the 'tic tac" style of storage. They have always closed securely. Are smaller in overall size than other options. For quicker color visibility I put a drop of clear nail polish on the label, on the lid & place 1 drill on top. Drill stays put & clear polish doesn't distort colors.
Thanks, friend! I have to agree. I tried using one of the green trays that came with one of my special drill kits recently, and that lasted for a hot second 😂
Your voice is so soothing! I am house sitting this week so my sister in law gave me my 1st diamond art painting to do. She has all her storage containers full or lent out to other family members so I went to Dollar Tree & got the 2 largest size cylinder containers in the graft section & the large crayon boxes for back to school. My 9 yr old who has been doing this with his Aunt said he really like my containers better. I wanted to jump in & get started so I didn't order anything yet. I will definitely be looking into the light box because an over head light adds too much of a glare for me.
Thanks for sharing!! enjoyed watching this video. I enjoy hearing what others find helpful. For me my number one must have is a LED magnification light on a reticulating arm. My eyesight is so poor that I absolutely could not DP a bookmark w/o the magnification. #2 is an easel. I DPed for 2.5 years on my dining room table and my neck and back were killing me. The easel has really made a difference. I also cover the top if my easel with a split pool noodle. #3 a good support chair #4 XL easel sized light pad #5 ergonomic hand turned super short. 3.5 inches because of the lighted magnifier, I need a short pen so I don't keep hitting the lens. #6 a 1/4 sheet silicone baking sheet. I need this to rest my arm/hand on the exposed adhesive as I work. #7 large capacity tray.
Thank you got watching, and for sharing the tools and accessories you find most helpful! I love hearing others’ thoughts, and you have some really fantastic suggestions! Gosh, everything you suggested really would make for a much more comfortable and ergonomic diamond painting experience. I’m glad you’ve found ways to make it more doable for you!
I couldn’t live without my easel. I have a light pad but I prefer my Ott light on a flexible arm that I have clamped on the top of my easel. I agree that a good chair also is helpful for those of us with bad backs.❤️🇨🇦
amazon has some thick diamond painting pens cheap that is where i buy mine i got 2 for like 12 $ instead of wax i use blue tack it will last me hours before i have to refill blue tack it similar to quake hold
Hi, I live in Australia have been doing diamond painting for quite a while found my first kit in a local cheap shop. I was a very keen cross stictcher, knitter and croucher but due to wrist issues all that had to stop so finding diamond dotz was a God send.I haven't bought anything off line yet, I do have a light pad and find it great. I do a lot of dotz at night so big help. But listening to you I'm going to get a up grade on the pen. Thanks for your help love your videos from Jenni in Australia
I found an old pill box for Sun-Sat, and it is like breakfast, snack, lunch & dinner so I stocked my diamonds then taped the edges with painters tape and wrote #s on them. It is neat & use a baby spoon to get gems out. Just things around the house for storage. I love multiplacers! #diamondpainting
Hi Katie, I am going back through your playlist and loving it 😍. I have been dping for about 6 months now and have only just got my first custom pen and a bigger tray 😃. I am so glad I have upgraded to them as it has made it so much more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your ideas 🤗. Stay safe and happy 😃 💖
An A3 lightpad and an easel on a laptray. Those are my priorities, since I have severe disabilities and poor eye sight. Everything else, I agree with you about and I own too.
Nope, you’re definitely not the only one! You should have seen how long I spent looking for the power cord, good grief. It’s been that long since I’ve used it! But I definitely didn’t want to leave it out, since it’s a must-have for SO many people.
@@mollym5182 how you doing it’s nice meeting you here, I have a whatapp group for Diamond painters we share ideas together and interest, it would be nice joining us.. if your interested kindly reply back for the group link so you can join us and may God continue to bless and strengthen you....
Hi from B.C., Canada 🇨🇦 I'm a beginner and really appreciated all your suggestions. I'm working on my first dping. I'm loving it! I will be buying a few new items. Thanks 😊
Thank you so much for making this video!!! 😆😆😆😆 I was looking everywhere to find out the name of the 2nd storage containers to store my diamond drills!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 I am so happy!!!!
I just got my first diamond painting kit (a few weeks ago). Came with a basic pen, tray, and wax. I ordered a thick pen, a storage set up (came with more trays, multi placers and wax YAY!). I also got one of those light pads. Now I just need to stop being scared and start the painting part LOL. It is a 40cm x 70cm, I might of started off with something to big I think....
I’m new to this beautiful art form and I watch RU-vid and you all the time ivve been looking to buy some wee wax and not your mommas mud and I ca my find it anywhere ! I love your channel. And your voice is so soothing Katie I have watched your multi placing shows and I love these
Yes, I agree! I immediately bought an upgraded pen, trays, and storage when I started diamond painting! :) Great ideas! I'm also a member of no the light-pad club, but I do see how it would be helpful for folks. :)
This video helped me so much! When I got my first diamonds art kit it came with the basic pen, but it was comfortable because it came with a soft stopper (sorry I'm not sure what they're called) so it wasn't that bad. I just wanted to have extension, so I didn't have to do each diamond one by one.
Light pad made a big difference with me, so did sectioning little bits of the painting because I personally tend to lose motivation real fast but the light pad made it easier to see so I didn’t get frustrated and sectioning helped because it was like “ok, I am going to get at least (#) done today” kinda like little goals for urself :)
Said I wasn’t going to do one for a while because after a while doing the painting hurt my shoulders but I’ve been tempted to get another one but I’d kinda want different storage and a different pen but at the same time I feel bad asking to buy this storage bag (already found one I’d get) because I’m 15 and it would be my moms money 😅
This was a great video, I am new to Diamond Painting and I am starting to collect must haves before I begin to start diamond painting. Storage is tricky one for me as I want sturdy storage as I have cats and I want to prevent spillage and I will be investing in a light pad and pens!! Great video and I subscribed 😊🤟
I got a 68 storage holder with a lid that clicks closed. I love it. P.S. paint With Diamonds website offers "oh sh*t" insurance. I've dropped my older storage container twice and they sent me all the gems without me having to send a picture of all the drills laying on my living room floor. This insurance also covers the canvas. I have cats too and he likes to be in my way. If you walk away from the canvas and your cat sits on the sticky part they will resend you the entire canvas.
A lot of the items sold on amazon are sellers that also sell on Aliexpress at a fraction of the cost, sometimes less than half the price.. The huge difference is shipping times. Aliexpress shipping is usually included in the price and takes months. So if you're working on a very tight budget, have a look there. You'll just have to wait for your stuff.
I do use a light pad. If I need a bigger one I’ve gotten two of the Same and duct taped the together for easy storage and have a usb hub on my work station. Usually eBay sells multiple sizes as well as discount when ordering multiple pads.
Here’s my feedback for your video. Your video popped up and right away I liked your voice to entice me to watch all of the video. Then I subscribed. Been looking for a slightly larger tray or two for dominate colors. The higher walls keep me away but those rose gold trays are so perfect and have a pretty sheen to them. I’ve also been thinking of a light pad but rarely would I need it. Totally agree on the clear multi placers. I can’t see where I’m placing them.
Thank you so much for the kind words, and welcome! I'm glad that you're here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you 💛 I did want to share that after this video, I did discover a shop that makes (what are now my favorite) diamond painting trays: Munimade, over on Etsy. She restocks on Wednesdays and they go fast, but I love her larger trays for multiplacing! The trays in this video are great, too, but I just wanted to let you know :)
Hey Katie I have be3n doing diamond painting for about 6 years have you try doing metal multiplacers I know the plastic once leave divits when continuing using the plastic once love your videos keep up the good work
Really love your channel. Totally agree with your suggestions. I just got Bella Art de Nicole trays and I'm obsessed. Lazy River Woodturning Pens are like impossible to score yesterday 3 minutes and sold out. Lol. Truly find your videos calm me. Love listening to you.
Thank you so, so much for the incredibly kind comments! I’m loving my Bella trays, too! And did you see that Lazy River is doing a set of first-time buyer pens on their Instagram?? Definitely go take a look!
It’s funny cause when I started I hated the pens and trays that came with the amazon diamond painting kits so I upgraded a lot and love everything I got everything you showed I have 😁.
I am so happy that I found this video! I am about to finish my first project and am obsessed! I do have a question about the tools that come with the kits. What do you do with them? I worry about wasting them.
Hi Alice! To be honest, I've just been chucking them into a box to deal with another day. I don't want to throw them away and add to plastic waste, but I'm struggling to find a good way to repurpose them. I may see if a local school could use them!
Hi there! If the kit doesn't come with a sticker inventory sheet that I can use, then I'll make a copy of the legend on the canvas or use the paper inventory sheet, and then feed that through my Xyron Sticker Maker. It's super handy!
What are your thoughts on round and square medal rulers. I bought some to try them out and I love using them. Even though you can only use them when single placing it lines up the drills perfectly
I'm total beginner. There seems to be several types of projects. Ones where the drills pop in to the piece and ones where they stick to the top. How many types are there and could you explain the difference? Thanks so much for your videos!
Ok so if I decide to buy one of those drill holding boxes won't I have to buy all my future paintings from the same company so all the drills are numbered and the same color? I've done 5 different paintings now and I buy them willy nilly from Amazon but none of the colors are ever the same. I'm assuming because they are all from different manufacturers. Please advise😊
I bought a resin pen on Amazon. It’s nice and comfortable but it’s so heavy. I find myself grabbing the cheap one that came with the kit way more. I think I just need to buy a lighter one. Maybe metal?
Hi there! Actually, I might recommend looking for a wood pen, since those can be really lightweight. Kevin's Kreations on Etsy has lots of different styles and are nice quality! Here's the link to his shop: www.etsy.com/shop/KevinsKreationStore
