Hatshepsut is the only one who claimed the throne as her own~ she got balls of steel and no one try to stop her, they only start rebelling after her death 😂 what a bunch of stupid mudafaka, kudo's to my girl two great obelisks~ she even predict that somebody will try to messed up the history after her death so leaving a great record is great moved (i think she came from the future 😂)
3:55 i give the Egyptians an A++++++ for their creativity when it comes to combining different colors in amazing ways. They combine colora that I personally didn't think could be matched 👍
Great video! A small addition to Hatshepsut. She actually was the unrecognized ruler of Egypt during her husband/brother's (Thutmose II) short 13 year reign making her total reign about 34 years. Hatshepsut's father, Thutmose I, saw his daughter was more equipped to rule and proclaimed Hatshepsut his successor when she was young. However, the opportunity to actually take the title of pharaoh didn't occur until her brother died. Until then, Hatshepsut quietly ruled behind the scenes when Thutmose II held the title.
Thanks for the video. I enjoy learning. I was already a fan of Hatshepsut. Looking at sources it seems there is much disagreement over the "race" of the ancient Egyptians. I am certainly no expert, but I definitely would call them "White". Ancient Egyptian art often shows them with a darkish, reddish shade. No matter. Learning about people, and about history, is a rich, fertile experience.
Also for Christians like me, Hatshepsut is also possibly the princess that carried in Moses in the Bible and became pharaoh while he ran away or before he ran away. Then her son took the throne once Moses returned to take Israelites out. ThutMOSES III interesting indeed.
If you look at the images of Egypt, they are always standing side by side. The notion of people thinking that black degrades his his is completely wrong.. Am now in my mid sixties and remember that women have always had a powerful position in our society. My mother and grandmother did show women have always maintained their power without confrontation, boasting or misusing it. Each time there was a plan to go to war, the matriarch always had the last word.
Most African cultures are actually patrilineal. Matrilineal ones are really traditionally only about 15-maybe 20% of SS African cultures. Some also are "bilateral" (a mixture of the two).African cultures (including West and East) were quite varied (and matriliny was not the norm or most, though it has occurred, so often has patriliny which was actually the majority). West Africa has many traditionally patrilineal cultures and regions (more than half of the cultures there) in which lineages and inheritance are traditionally more dominantly patrilineal: as in most of Nigeria, Mali, much of Sierra Leone/Liberia, the SeneGambia, Cameroon, Dahomey, and the Western Savannah (many cultures have also been more on a spectrum in between patriliny and martialiny having what are called bilateral descendants systems, where inheritance cam come from both sides). Though Central Africa had many matrilneal cultures, though several patrilineal ones as well. Patrilineal West African cultures (like the Nigerian Igbo or Yoruba) are also extended family based, and the traditional head is the oldest living male (a grandfather, for instance)-as in ancient Rome or traditional China. East and southern Africa traditionally have had a mix of patrilineal and matrilineal systems as well, with many nilotic tribes being patrilineal, but with other nilo-saharan cultures varying between the two systems, with some, such as the Nubians, having been matrilineal for a period. The Akan of Ghana are matrilineal, but the Ghanaian Ewe (and most Northern Ghanaian tribes) are patrilineal, The Ga (also of Ghana) are patrilineal as well (with some minor matrilineal features. Matriliny also occurred in many American Indian cultures, those of the south Pacific, parts off Asia, and even very early Europe-especially among the Early pre-Indo-European cultures (those regions had some patrilineal and bilateral societies as well. "The most widespread descent group is known as the clan, which can be either patrilineal or matrilineal. The members of the former type of clan comprise all those who are born from a single founding ancestor through the male line only; those of the latter comprise all those born from a single founding ancestor or ancestress through the female line only. Patriliny is far more common in Africa than matriliny, which is limited mainly to parts of Zambia and Malawi, in central Africa, and to Ghana and Ivory Coast, in western Africa. Regardless of the means of descent, authority in the family and elsewhere is always formally held by men; therefore, men have domestic authority in both patrilineal and matrilineal families (formal matriarchy is unknown in Africa)" (My note: the rest of West Africa, outside of the Akan parts of Ghana and the Ivory Coast, is mostly patrilineal, as is most of Southern Africa, East central Africa, and many of the Nilotic cultures of East Africa). Search (post with links will not appear): "Family, kinship, and domestic groupings - Introduction to Africa" (Matrilineal cultures were only about 15% of Africa overall according to Murdock's ethnographic surveys, as well as later research.) Usually even in more matrilineal tribes-like the Akan or in much of the Congo, the father/father's lineage had an importance/significance in descent, but it was somewhat counterballanced by that of the maternal uncle and the matriclan. Often (in such tribes), certain ancestor rites would came from the father's side-and others matrilineal/from the mother's; and sometimes trades or mobile assets (like gold in the case of the Akan/Ghana) might come (and be inherited) from the father; but (importantly) clan membership, most land, and inherited political titles came (and were inherited) from the oldest maternal uncle/matrilineage.
Excellent video but I take issue with the following statement: "The behavior of men throughout world history is pretty predictable to say the least, and we can assume Egyptian men probably didn't take it too kindly as women took the title as Pharaoh...". We shouldn't conflate the way European and Arab men have behaved towards their women with the way men and women interacted throughout ancient Egypt. If Egyptian men viewed women as inferior and treated them as such, why are there so many pieces of art depicting men and women side-by-side? Or showing women as prominent in society? Why is the concept of 'truth' and 'justice' (Ma'at) portrayed as a woman? Remember, it's the Christian cross that portrays two phalluses (north & south) while the Egyptian Ankh features a womb and a phallus. If ancient Egyptian men held negative views of women, none of the things I just mentioned would have taken place; matriarchal system or not, men are physically stronger than women and if they genuinely didn't want female rulers, I'm sure the men would've found a way to make it so.
Can you please recommend a book for me??? I want to understand did dark skin African ever ruled the world, and when did they first came in contact with White Europeans....thanks
Dark skinned people is origin of humanity & established the first civilizations around the world. The Egyptians wasn't dark skin but the nubians were very dark skin
Isis represent love, healing, fertility, magic, and the moon. Ra was patron of the sun, heaven, kingship, power, and light. It doesn’t matter though because neither one of those Gods existed
𓋹𓍑𓋴 𓇍𓅓𓊵𓏏𓊪 Just here to clear up that there was no 'pharoh'. The per'aah was the place where the msut or msutet (ruler) stayed.. per aah means house of aah (amunet amun most high). Invasive greeks and romans saw royalty in the peraah and thought 'oh... pharohs lived here'.
By you giving this information, should tell everyone that Ancient Egyptians were dark skinned people, because the white man hasn't tried to report anything like this. They only get behind the scenes and disagree. Neffertiti is our favorite.
@@user-zj6fh9cd3y There is no documented evidence that people were killed and off or displaced on a mass scale in Egypt. Modern Egyptians are the descendants of Ancient Egyptians, but they adopted the Arabic language after converting to Islam. Coptic Christians still exist and Coptic is a direct descendant of the Ancient Egyptian language, and no they don't look black.
Sorry, my man, but you missed the bus. Especially in your depiction of Twosret. If you look at the symbols to her left, you will notice the basket with two lines below, that is the symbol for "lord of the two lands" (Neb Tawi). But if you look carefully, you will notice the loaf of bread below the basket, that is the symbol for "female" or "feminine", (Neb't Tawi), which clearly translates as Queen, not king.
Thank you for including Sobekneferu. So many leave her by the wayside even though she is the first( officially ) recorded female ruler on any of the kings lists. On a side note I think it's awesome that her father the great Amenemhat lll was preparing to make her older sister his successor but she died before he did.
@Thana Hamad don't forget that Egypt was conquered by many different races. Aryans and the Greeks conquered and took control of the country and it's culture yet they were not the original Egyptians. You simply just don't want to accept it. At the end of the day Nubia birthed Egypt and if not for that you wouldn't be Egyptian today.
Sometimes i can't let go of the idea that Hatshepsut is really came from the future~ all her accomplishment, tactics, and idea is impossible from that era, even the design of her temple is so amazing~ I know this sounds crazy but bro! She's really great ☝️ *Hatshepsut got transmigrated*
@Valene the Egyptians wasn't white niether!! VALENE! Hey that rhymes!😂😂😂 but the Egyptians were middle eastern. Not white or black they had tanned reddish brown to olive skin.
@PrincessV except the Egyptians depicted themselves with olive colored skin and classic North African features and depicted Nubians completely differently. Why wouldn’t they depict the Nubians the same as them if they were both sub Saharan?
@Mr Hightower Oh really dumb ass, BLACK WOMEN BIRTH THE WHOLE FUCKING CIVILIZATION. YO LAME ASS WOULDNT EVEN BE HERE TO TALK SHIT IF IT WASNT FOR THE B L A C K W O M A N.

Here is all the evidence that proves it for black 1_ there are no famous Egyptologists who say that the Egyptians were black. 2_ yes, there were black people in Egypt, but they were mercenaries and workers and were not residents on Egyptian lands. 3_ it is wrong to say that the Egyptians are Arabs because there is no Arab race in the first place. 4_ there are African countries with black residents who say they are Arabs, what do you think of Djibouti, Somalia , Sudan and others? 5_ there is a consensus of anthropologists that the ancient Egyptians are of the white race (so to speak) and that the current Egyptians are their descendants, and this is what the scientist S. My favorite Female Egyptian Queens are: Queen Tiye, Queen Nefertari,Queen Nefertiti,Queen Tuya and Queen Hatshepsut. All Afrikan Women are Queens 👑 and Mothers. And they are very Beautiful.
They all were Egyptians North African. Specific that There were nothing call Africa at this time there were only nations and human groups And all the African countries around south and east Egypt were the enemies of Egypt, and they were not allies so that we could share our history with them

I do not know why you try to super generalize facts and I dont know your intent for bland objectivity that skews the very fact of the story you are telling. Case in point, Matrilineal System is VERY UNIQUE amongst only the AKANs. Saying most African societies have Matrilineal System is an over generalization of fact and absolute falsehood. In fact, the Matrilineal System laws are a KEY part of the Akan CONSTITUTION that can NOT be changed. It is the matrilineal system LAW that gives the sole right to nominate who becomes a king to the QUEEN or the QUEEN-MOTHER and a male's offspring can NEVER become king. This law makes the children of the male "darlings" of the family. They (male offsprings) are special but CANT inherit authority in their father's house. The children of males are NOT legal members of the father's clan. During census the children will be counted by the wife's extended family but not the husband's. As far as inheritance is concerned, the dead person's will is very much respected. So a man can bequeath his assets to his children before his death BUT he is restricted from deciding who takes over his authority. I have seen a lot of over generalizations in your videos but this hits home. Learn how your reading fits actual facts on the ground or widen your source of reference. You are entitled to what you say though.
Akan Asesɛm Your people like a lot of others fit the mold of this "ancient" society in many shapes and forms so relax. Theres only so much that can be done. The Akan is not the only matrimonial society on the entire continent. Come on now. But like you alluded, it's so rare nowadays but the do exist.
Nicole ATCQFAN Give me examples if you have prove. It should not be difficult at all to point examples. Africa is not a dark continent located on another planet. Every information in African can be found. Until you point out a group in Africa that has current of past Matrilineal System you are just spinning African history just like the europeans did. Let us be honestly and intellectual in our analyzes and appreciation of our history. It doesn't serve us right when we twist our own history in effort to correct the same disgraceful mistakes made by racist Europe.
Nicole ATCQFAN By the way I NEVER alluded that Matrilineal System is rare to find. Its UNIQUE to the Akans of West Africa. All Akan kings in Ghana and Ivory Coast today inherited the kingship through theirs mothers blood. In modern times, assets goes to the children and wife but the one responsible for seeing over decision of the man's will is still the matrilineal relation. Ghanaians still chose an official successor although it is just ceremonial. In a nutshell modernity hasn't affected the matrilineal system in Ghana at all. Recently, the current president of Ghana in an effort to dispute charges that he has appointed his family members to key constitutional positions such as Chief Justice made the argument that the chief justice is not his family member because she is related through the father's side.
True. It's not most. African cultures (including West and East African) were quite varied (matriliny is not really the norm, Though it occurs, so did other systems like patriliny were actually more common/the majority). Just to clarify. When I said "a mix of matrilineal and patrilineal", I meant not the Akan but Africa (some regions like West Africa have both kinds of cultures: for instance the strongly patrilineal main cultures of Nigeria like the Yoruba, Edo, Igbo, Hausa, Nupe, Igala, etc.; the Mali region like Bambara, Mandinka, Dogon, etc. and in other nearby countries), as well as certain other tribes (also some individual tribes have systems that are intermediate between the two). The Akan are certainly matrilineal in their political succession rules. I very much agree with you about the inaccurate generalization made in the video, and was elaborating on that. It is far from the truth that most were matrilineal (when a variety of systems is more accurate, for Africa in general). Also, Egypt had more patrilineal periods. I believe they were one of the cultures that had a combination of both tendencies (and more patrilineal toward later periods, having been more matrilineal ion earlier ones).
Really thank you for this video. It's incredibly awesome. I'd like to see more videos like that.. Can you make videos about ancient Egyptian doctors? Thank you again. Greetings from Egypt! Proud to be Egyptian. ❤️🇪🇬

Egyptian were NOT black Africans. That's a falsehood. Egyptians were olive skinned Caucasians who inhabited N. Africa 20-50,000 years ago. Look at the bust of Nefertiti in the Berlin museum. Is her skin color" black". No, not a chance. That's just one example.
