I really, really appreciate you providing links for different countries. So many US reviewers seem to forget that the rest of the world exists. I also appreciate that its not a simple list of "this is better because its more expensive", but you factor in value and such. Much appreciated. Subscribed.
You mentioned that the Dell s3422dwg is NVIDIA certified G-Sync compatible. Is this in an updated list because I can't seem to find it on their website
I bought the Dell S3422DWG for $400. I really enjoyed the picture quality, but playing anything below 100fps is a real no-go. I can't play games locked to 60 like Skyrim without terrible ghosting making it a terrible experience, I've tried everything. Hoping I'm able to return it, I'm literally RIGHT at the 30 day mark. One HUGE disclaimer for this monitor is that you can only play modern games on it/games with unlocked framerates, even 60 is hard to manage. Also keep in mind, when your PC starts to age, you may not be able to push the same amount of frames. Considering it's a budget monitor, I doubt you'd upgrade your whole PC just to keep your monitor relevant. Just splurge on something with an IPS display with lower ghosting and official G-Sync support, it'll save you a lot of hassle.
What specs do you have to not be able to push to the max frames in an old game? Like many others have said before, if you want a 144hz monitor, you need a pc that can do 144 fps
My problem wasn’t low fps, as my computer is good, my problem was motion clarity (especially with blacks). Though returning it, I recently got the same monitor. For a lot of people, I think the monitor is great, especially if you don’t really play competitive games. I came from a 170hz ips, which has great response times/ motion clarity. The response times are good, but I’m not sure why the motion is just not as clear as the ips (at least more of a difference than 144-170hz would make). Besides that, the most noticeably bad thing by far is the black response time. One great in game example is if you have a bunch of trees on a bright blue sky. If you move around, the black smear was horrible. I absolutely hate the point where ultrawides are right now, because all of the cheaper ones sacrifice something. I know this should be expected becuase they are cheap, but it seems there is no middle ground with them. You either have to sacrifice something and spend 400 usd, or sacrifice basically nothing but spend 1000. I found one cheap ips ultra wide, but the sacrifice is that it’s not curved. My current monitor is flat, and the first time I played on a curved one was the ultraiwde dell, but I think 34” has to be at least slightly curved for it to be usable.
Good video. I was cool with the original prices, but when I clicked the links I saw that they all were on sale and much cheaper but still relevant today. Going with the one you use. Number one. 👌
I got the Dell after watching your review of it. It is nice and I love its colors, HDR is good, never have I tried HDR before so it is my first approach to that technology and I like it!
Just discovered your channel, love your reviews, keep grinding. Quality of your videos are up there with some of the big tech channels. I will see you at 100k subs in the near future.
You do a great job with your reviews. Your style keeps me interested. I like that you don't bash the product, even if it was issues, you just point them out, and move on. So, If here in July of 2023, and the Dell S3422DWG is selling for $350. Are you still as positive about it?
I went from a non curved 1080p ips panel monitor and got the Asus VG34VQL1B curved ultrawide and I used to play for about 2-3 hours and my eyes would be bloodshot and hurt but with curved my eyes dont hurt anymore, so weird how little things like that can make a big difference.
I do moderate gaming so i wasnt super worried about it in game. I normally have dark mode enabled on everything so how is reading white text on black? Sossyfor bugging i really do appreciate the response. Hate to spend 800 when i could be content with 500.
I honestly contemplated getting the monitor until I heard the flickering at 60 frames or below issue, and for a game like Elden Ring being capped at 60 fps internally, that's a no go 😐
@@Eduardo1007 but then screen tearing does come into effect and I would rather avoid that. I think it's the fact that this monitor simply doesn't have the internal power to perform adaptive/g-sync functions and that results in the flicker. No other ultrawide out there has this issue.
Would love a video where you share your optimal settings for the monitors in the list! Your reviews have been quite helping and with the settings such as color calibration and contrast, I would not even google anything, juts follow your advice, sit down and play.
Alienware AW3423DWF, perhaps it came out a little after your video, £930 for a 34 inch UWQHD QD OLED, (there's a G-sync version available AW3423DW) although the DWF works better with Nvidia GPU's. Since the June 23 firmware update you now get HDR 1000 out of the box. Grey to grey response time 0.1ms black to white response time 2.2ms, a quick Google and 7 out of 8 tech reviews have this as the best gaming monitor. It also does movies, the most cinematic viewing experience and considerably cheaper than the $1300 LG IPS nano which looks terrible in comparison. If you can't stretch to an OLED then a good VA is definitely the way to go.
Just a heads up, but I think Amazon done goofed their listing for the LG 34GP83A-B. The link in the description takes you to a page for the 34WP65C-B VA panel monitor instead. It's not the link's problem, though. I bought the 34GP83A-B last year, and when I check my Amazon history, it takes me to the wrong product (VA monitor). However, they are selling the 34GN850-B which is the same monitor as the 34GP83A-B, and it's on sale for $599.
I purchased the VG34VQL1B and it was a fantastic monitor for the price. Unfortunately I had to return it because the Stand came damaged and Amazon refused to make an exchange.

HI'm a happy user of No. 1 in your list for 3 years. Still the best for it's price. But should I go to upgrade to UW OLED?
Hey man, great video. I'm about to get the LG UltraGear 34GN850P-B. Now I wonder... is that just the german name for the LG UltraGear 34GP83A-B? The specs look identical lol
I tried the Gigabyte monitor and returned it within a week. It wasn't worth the money saved for the amount of colour bleed or the horrible contrast. I tried an LG that again I wasn't satisfied with the performance for the money I paid, then I tried an HP OMEN monitor, it again had so many corners and features cut that I didn't feel it was worth the money. I finally got my ASUS VG34VQL3A UltraWide and it's amazing, I paid $550 Canadian back in January, 2024 at Best Buy. It was more than both the other monitors but I realized I needed to spend more to get what I wanted. Gone are the days of being able to buy a budget monitor and still enjoy the experience, they've gone and made these "cheap" monitors so unuseable that most people have no choice to spend hundreds more. That being said I feel like I got a great monitor for a great price.
Can I ask why the Samsung G7 odyssey did not make the short list, other reviews I have seen saying its one of the best gaming monitors out there, nice review as I still cannot decide which new monitor too buy.
I really don't know. Coming from 1080p gaming to something bigger and better to include productivity I had thought 1440p would be the way as 4k is a bit overkill. At 1600p I was hell bent on a 38" LG or dell but they are so much more expensive. Perhaps 34" is still a bit small for me for reading text. Wish Elden Ring among other games supported more ultra wide formats. Maybe I can cheat on 1600p with less black bars.
@@pulatpulet7202 In the end I went with a 165Hz 34” ultra wide from gigabyte was pretty decent for the $299 price while on sale. I have enough room for a smaller 1080p screen on the side too.
@Type-C Tech Reviews: Hey Los,... just would to aks where u would place the sceptre u also tested last year. Could it be somewhere between the top 5 or just way below ? THX for the amazing reviews btw. :)
Ive been set on the LG for a while, came to get some different opinions, but this just solidifies that my wallet is going to get thrashed lol. Great video and very informative!
You obviously have the right to discern which monitors are in the top five, but you did leave out two monitors that are objectively better in most regards if not all. On the AW3423DW I heard your reasoning about the potential for burn in for OLED , but seeing that burn in issues are very rare compared to the millions of panels that are sold PLUS the 3 year warranty they have it should have been included ... And the other monitor (The PG35VQ) is a no questions asked the best of the best ultrawide monitor out of all of these that you listed. It has been the King since 2019. So these two monitors I feel definitely people should have known about and been on your list because they are the best and we do not know exactly what may or may not fail on all of the monitors listed, but with a 3-year warranty that's better than probably any of those monitors above...
I was looking at asrocks curved va ultrawides and was wandering how it compared to the dell one at number 2. I know this is a little late but i really need some advice
Anno 2023 and i bought a LG34GN850-B by Amazon German for 605€+3 years extra warranty for 19,99€ (!!). y baby has nothing Panel problems, no pixel, very, very light BL right corner and is sooo fast, UFO test perfect. I bought a old Spyder 5 for 55€ and i will calibrate this monitor, but in the basic the collours are perfect. An why i buy now a IPS and no one OLED ? 1300€ and more for a not perfect technic ? No, no today, possibly after, possibly nano LED. And my MSI OPTIX MAG271CQR with VA Panel will sell... I hope my LG will better than my english ;-) I use 17 brightness
I have 2 of the Asus VA ultrawide. It has freesync, yes, but it has the worst brightness flicker that I have ever seen. The lower the fps, the worse it is. I would not recommend this monitor for gaming, specially for people who want freesync or gsync.
hi im pretty new to this monitor stuff, and i was wondering, does this need any sort of devvice that doesnt come with the monitor? such as a pc or speakers and such, or do you just plug it and it works, ty!
hi bro, which 34 inch do you recommend for work - not video editing, just wfh with analytics, coding and spreadsheets. what do you recommend ? Appreciate your input. cheers. MP
I am watching this video because I hate mine. Software settings are very limited, ghosting is really bad, HDR is advertised but is horribly worse then SDR, Freesync causes horrible flickering and loss of peak brightness, sometimes my monitor gets stuck in sleep mode requiring me to pull the plug. Yeah, its bad.
I'm really worried about ordering expensive things online But is it really good to order the no.1 spot right off Amazon? Really sorry for the question I really want it but don't want to be disappointed ☹️
Amazon will protect you if anything were to happen. If the monitor breaks during shipping amazon will allow you to return and replace it for free. If you don't like the monitor after it arrives it is also covered by a 30 day return policy (I am talking about the #1 spot monitor I am not sure about the others)
IPS is superior for workflow usage. However, if you are sitting right in front of a VA panel the difference with work flow will be little. Hope this helps!
What happened to the Asus PG35VQ? 512 FALD zones, 200hertz refresh rate, g sync ultimate, HDR1000. It’s better then the Asus you had in this video and also better than the LG that you had at #3 and I had bought mine at Micro Center for $1200 around February 2022. If availability is why it’s omitted then totally understandable but it’s definitely better than pretty much any monitor on this list and blow the doors off the LG. Rather get a used PG35VQ than anything else on here.
brightness its the worst thing to take into consideration as a positive when you review a display. the brighter the panel its not the better, most probably the opposite
Sad, that the only one that is here in my country is the Dell. In which it is out of stock almost immediately. The only thing I have right now at the market is the G34WQC.. how about that one?
I want a Display with great blacks for work and gaming, im using a 34" gigabyte m34wq it hast nice colors and is proper fast for fps games but i hate the black levels of ips. It allways looks grey and not black. I would go oled, but i work every day 8 hours from home and dont want burn in, after a year of use. So how are the black levels on the #1 lg vs the Dell ?
right now I have the lg 29 wk600 ULTRAWIDE, will I feel a difference in image quality by choosing some of these monitors? In my room I have an oledCX LG 55" .. because I want a new monitor. can you help me?
I would like to get one of these Monitors only for Star Citizen. Would you go for the Dell-VA-Panel because of that darker Deep Space images, or would you still go for the LG IPS-Panel? Thanks for your reply. :)
@pit I also want to buy a monitor for Star Citizen. I haven't done much research yet and I don't have experience with different panel types. If you come across a good monitor please let me know. Cheers
Amazing video. Hey bro can you please make a video that we can downscale the ratio and resolution 16:9 and 1440p from Ultrawide will it look native 1080p or blurred? Of horrible? I can't find this kind of video test on youtube. Also, do the same for 1440p Ultrawide to 1080p Ultrawide and 16:9 1080p. If it's possible so we will have 4 in 1. Like 1: Native ultrawide 1440p 2: 1440p (16:9) 3: 1080p Ultrawide 4: 1080p (16:9) In the same 1440p ultrawide monitor. Can you please do the test? It will help me buy 1440p Ultrawide. So in the future, if my native 1440p Ultrawide can't handle the game I can downscale the resolution and ratio that I want that I mention until I buy my gaming parts. It will be so helpful if you made this video. Step by step using different games with high settings. There is no video I can't find on youtube. It will be also so helpful for people. Trust me. Thanks :)
1440p non ultrawide won't be downscaled its the same pixel count just sides cut off, 1080p ultrawide resolution is 2560x1080, it looks blurry on a 1440p ultrawide
Here I am looking for monitors on RU-vid, and I see your face. And I was like hey that looks like consumer tech review. I thought you were his twin or something 🤣🤣🤣
It's a little late but I've got a 2022 zephyrus G15 with a 3070 was wondering if I'd have any trouble running one of these monitors just from my laptop?
LG monitors only comes with 1 year warranty, and that's for a good reason. Take it from someone who owns or has owned 4 LG displays and a LG Gram - they will have all have problems after 1 or 2 years. Just recently, my LG 38GN950 developed stuck pixels 3 days before my return period and I got rid of that thing like a disease. No more LG for me, ever!
i doubt it but do any of these have PBP? i know not many gaming monitors have that feature, and I am aware that the samsung odyssey g9 has it but well above my price range.
