I’ve torn ligaments in both thumbs in arena from point blank rockets. And that’s why fingersaves plus thumbsave (Uhlsport supportframe+) are an absolute must have for me. I been playing keeper year round for 25+ years on 2-3 teams. Personal preference, but I don’t have time to get injured.
My dumbass comments aside, this was another fantastic goalie video. I've never seen a tutorial on how to tape your fingers if you're a keeper - that's awesome.
fingersaves are not for protecting you from breaking your finger, but they could help in case of quick reflex save or high dive after powerful shot when you touch the ball just with tips of your fingers and it help sometimes to save some shots when you don't tense muscles in your hand. It is helpful and you can get used to it
Yeah I remember I did a reflex save but I didnt expect it, so the ball rolled into the goal. Im looking for a specific type of save, not protection equipment, its called a fingertip save
Actually that is precisely what they were designed for, but you are just as likely to break a finger with ot without them. There are stats to prove this. You'll make fingertip saves with or without them. I no longer wear them, they take away my freedom of movement and I frequently make fingertip saves. It's being at full stretch that really helps. I'm still making such saves at the age of 61. Gloves help to protect your hand and fingers and grip the ball, but it's the goalkeeper who makes the save. The glove is of no use if you don't make contact with the ball and the faster he ball is moving the easier it is to make that save. Reflexes and concentration are what's needed along with knowing your angles, positioning and being aware of where you are in relation to all the other players around. Especially the position of the man with the ball. Watch his body language, especially his shoulders when he is obscured. This helps should he shoot through a body of players to gauge the direction of the ball. Remember that the gloves are only a tool which you should always wear for protection, absorption and grip. It is you who makes the save!
I agree with you. I advise young goalkeepers especially to use them/ get gloves with them. They will help reduce “over extensions” which can take a keeper out of a game. they also reduce the severity of hyperextensions. When players get older it may be advisable to no longer use them but I have also never seen gloves with them give a player any problems.
@@adoro1342 Am i the only one who thinks finger saves makes a difference when you only touch the ball with the tip of your fingers barely. When this happening with finger saves the ball get parried in wider angle, therefore more chance to deflect outside and not back in the net. At least this is my experience.
Yagami913 Here’s the trick - Use fingersaves for your middle and ring finger, they will parry the ball and add stability to where the hand will most likely meet the ball. It’s better to get your own finger strength, but I personally like having some form of protection when I have to make a full extension tip off.
Good Video.. i love my fingersave and wrist control gloves.. havent had any issues playing with them.. i just bought me a pair of Rinat asimetrik hunter with fingersave.. im excited to try them.
how to wash gloves faster???? baby wipes!!!!! cleats, ball, gloves.... anything. I like the Costco brand (Kirkland). have 3 little ones at home, so its much easier to come by the wipes. regardless, I think it worth the little expense and save your time. cheers
Shower with them in lukewarm water then just use a towel in the shower to clean them squeeze the water out never twist it and be gentle its not the fastest but the most efficient
I not only like how the finger savers protect my fingers from balls I've also pretty much broken my pinky so I like having the protection but I have also been kicked in the hand and it helps with that I don't have a problem with grip with my finger savers either but if you don't like then that's cool.
I’m a sophomore and made varsity as a keeper and I’m super nervous, soccer is the biggest sport in town and I’m just so nervous for my first game, Is there any advice I can get?
Just do what you’ve been doing and keep working hard you made varsity for a reason and just remember the best keepers in the world get scored on so don’t beat yourself up if you get scored on
i broke my pinkie while playing without finger saves and it wasn’t the way you were talking about it’s because my finger got pushed back really far so it does happen
Once had a referee give an indirect free kick against me because i palmed down a shot that was hit at me, tried wasting time with it at my feet then picked it up once the striker approached me....Couldnt believe it haha
GK hacks: let’s cut off your circulation in your finger with tape 🤣🙈 Tyler mate, I never use tape and I’ve not had a single finger injury thus far and the same goes for finger saves, they’ve never actually hurt my hand at all. They’ve always been beneficial to me. But hey ho, each to their own. 💪🏼💪🏼🧤🧤
J B G some finger safe gloves come with a zipper (mostly right above the wrist/sometimes more towards the middle of the hand) or you can carefully make a small cut (on the back of the hand DO NOT CUT THE “CATCH” FOAM) (about 3cm) about 1 or 2 cm beneath the ending of the finger save (in the middle of the glove) and push the finger save trough the cut (push on the finger tips of the gloves and work your way down, start with the middle finger and ring finger), BUT the gloves are made to be worn with the plastic strips in it, so removing the finger save from a glove does change the fitting and feeling of the glove. If you don’t want to wear finger save anymore the best thing you can do is buy a new pair without finger save and save your current pair for emergency situations (if you have to lend your gloves to a field player for example or for when your other gloves tear)
the finger save tip has to be the stupidest thing i ever hear. Buffon, Cech, Casillas, Szczesny, Lloris, all wear gloves with finger saves, and that's just and those are just top of crop level goalkeepers that I can name off the top of my head. if you think FS are shit then you are getting the wrong pair. Orto-tech (reusch) and Bionik (uhlsport) are unbelievable finger save systems.
It's a common known fact the vast majority of pro's do not wear finger saves. Just because those guys wear gloves with finger saves doesn't mean they are actually using them. A lot of times guys preferred gloves just happen to come with finger saves. Like I said I have NEVER been on a training pitch with a pro goalkeeper who was wearing finger saves. I actually asked a handful of old teammates before making this video if any pro goalkeeper they have trained with wore finger saves. And none of them had trained with a pro who wore them either.
You definitely do not want use a toothbrush!!! Do not listen to this guy this damages the gloves instantly!! Use warm water and your thumb being extremely careful not to tear the latex. Also never ever ever ever RING YOUR GLOVES !!!!! Especially like he did as this tears your latex as well. I’m bc a semi pro keeper and watching this made me really angry. You need to look after your gloves not destroy them
Lol what? Finger protection is not just for protecting the finger. It's also for strengthening the fringer so that your fingers don't let in an easy goal by bending backwards. It doesn't affect your grip on the ball at all.
Not true in the slightest. There's a reason almost zero professionals wear finger save gloves. It doesn't allow you as much give on the ball which makes it harder to cleanly hold harder struck shots.
@@GKGOLUREMI PLEASE please please make a video or at least reply as to how you take finger saves out. in this video are you strictly referring to either buying gloves without them or only buying gloves with a zipper to remove them? i got new reusch ones and they are completely loaded with plastic.
@@nick9zx If you have a Reusch model there should be a velcro part on the back that you can open the back of the glove up with. I don't think I've seen a Reusch model that doesn't allow you to take the finger saves out. But they usually don't use zippers so maybe you just didn't notice the velcro part.
GK GOLUREMI damn. no velcro either. looked at every part of them and there seems to be no way to get inside at all. had them for about a week now and they're great gloves, the finger saves aren't as bad as i initially thought.
Proper form isn't going to just stop your fingers from getting jammed. It will help you not jam them at times. But there's a ridiculous amount of scenarios that will result in jammed fingers which can't be prevented by form.
Salam. Kesay ho? I am also from Pakistan and I have some advice for you. If you are from Pakistan it will be really hard to become a pro player because Pakistan does not have a football league so the problem you would need to overcome is to go to other countries where there are such leagues for football. Those countries could be Spain, France, England etc but keep in mind that becoming a pro in these league will be much harder as these are the top leagues where players such as Hazard salah Aguero Ronaldo Neymar Messi etc play. Countries such as Australia Egypt and Turkey etc. have leagues that are at a lower level. I am not saying that it will be very easy to get into these leagues but it won't be as hard as the other top leagues. What I would recommend is to train everyday and make sure you are a good enough player so that you would have a chance at joining such a league. I don't know how old you are now but I suggest that at the age of 18 or 19 you should find a way to travel to those countries and participate in a club trial to get recruited. I also aim to become a professional player and I am currently in France and when I reach the age of 18 I will participate in a trial for a club here. I hope this helped. Feel free to ask questions!
LEASE for the love of god, do not rinse your gloves like that! squeeze the water out, but dont rub or crunch your gloves up, it can easily tear up the latex after a few rounds of washing them.
I mean no for most of these; 1. You should definitely wash your gloves as he said before every game ideally 2 days before and let them air dry so as to not lose the grip from the palms mainly; 2. Wear metals studded boots, almost all the time. The only time you shouldn't wear metal studs is when the ground is dry and cracking in which case you should war moulds; 3. You can waste time as much as you want with the ball at your feet however it is against the rules to waste time after the ball has been handled by both hands as it counts as a catch and your 6 second count down technically starts and the ref can blow up for it; 4. Finger saves are not for breaking of the bone they are for tearing of the ligaments, ALL GOALKEEPERS WEAR AND SHOULD WEAR THEM. The pro goalkeepers do wear finger save gloves. Contrary to what this guy said the finger saves force your hands into a curved position which has the same curvature as the ball. Tape is inconsequential and does not provide and support for the finger unlike the finger save. If you do choose tape they should always be tight otherwise all the benefits, though limited, are nullified; 5. Do have a spine of a routine before a match but do not stick to it religiously as this will as the guy says put you into a routine, however if a game completely breaks from a normal one it causes a sever mental dip in form which as all goalkeepers know is fundamental to having a good game. The routine should be varied on how you are feeling on the day, what you were doing in training, how you performed in training, and then as I said before the spine that you have set up. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
@@GKGOLUREMI I've played football for money for 3 years until I got injured and I couldn't recover my form and was dropped so I'm now a coach at a rather high level. Plus many goalkeepers do wear finger saves as there is literally no detriment to wearing them.
@@rohanlambert450 I don't have a number for other brands but Aviata says 80% of their sponsored keepers don't even choose gloves with fingersave options. It's not even a debate, it's a fact that the vast majority of professional keepers don't wear them. Since 2016 I've trained with easily over fifty professional goalkeepers who play all over the world (US, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Peru, Croatia, Bosnia, Denmark, Turkey, Scotland, England, Italy) and not a single one was wearing fingersaves. When asking about it everyone of them like me says they have a much harder time holding onto shots with them. Also, your #3 point is incorrect. You can 100% stop a ball with your hands and have it die in-front of you without bringing it into your body and then pick it up later. By your logic you wouldn't be allowed to pick up any ball that you bobble or mishandle which obviously just isn't true. Your #2 point. Yeah I said wear soft grounds when you're playing on a soft surface. Guess what the field is when it isn't soft? It's dry and hard. You are just rewriting what I said but somehow trying to say when I say it it's wrong. Your #5 point. I should have mentioned you can slightly alter the number of reps with how you are feeling that day. This was mostly for people that just go out before a game and just warm up differently every day. So I was trying to drive home the fact that you need a routine before every game. But in professional situations most keepers do do the exact same routine before every game.
@@GKGOLUREMI I have since changed my opinion on finger save gloves as they actually actively CAUSED my finger to break. On a dive, my finger was caught at an odd angle, and had I not been wearing finger saves it would have just ended in a jammed finger but due to wearing finger saves it actually broke my finger at the base instead. Also, I conducted my own research into who wears finger saves and have found that from 1000 goalkeepers stretching from Sunday to the championship that the higher the level you go the less you see finger saves as they opt for as you said just the taping of the finger instead. For reference, the championship keepers I spoke to 1 had finger saves and said he only wore them for specific training sessions.
