If you want more harry potter content from me, check out my let's play of the first game !! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PiHHVoVwHUE.html
I also love it, but Chamber of Secrets is longer, better designed, better told and have a better atmosphere. If only they added 2 hours playtime in the third one... it might be as good as the second. I also liked the interactions between the characters in the PoA, but on the contrary the Hogwarts and the design of students suck in this game - they ARE all the same, I mean they REALLY are.
My favorite Harry Potter game was Chamber of Secrets, followed closely by Prisoner of Azkaban. ...And the scores! My GOODNESS, the scores! Jeremy Soule's soundtracks to the first three games (The main themes to each of them, in particular) are simply fantastic! I still listen to them now!
I agree, I tried other games but those were boring... I liked the first one as well but those 2 were the best, and the soundtrack was just amazing, I can't get tired of it... so magical and special
@@hanc2w Oh, me too! I play mainly old games (Between the 90's and 2009), and it's my personal opinion that they can't make games like they used to. Medal of Honor (the 1999 original, on the PS1) is my all-time favorite game, followed by Uncharted 2, then the Chamber of Secrets. I would love a remaster!
@@osianroberts2261 I have played all of the Harry potter games 1-8 on consoles and watching the gameplay of the pc version I can say that the difference is mostly level design gameplay wise that are pretty much the same
@@osianroberts2261 Yes, they are completely different from each other xbox and gamecube share the same version of the game, ps2, ps1 and pc have their own versions
Sure. So the Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2 versions were basically identical. Meanwhile, the GBC, GBA, PS1, and PC versions are each entirely unique, each of these four is distinct from every other. This goes for videogame tie-ins of Philosopher's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban. From Goblet onward, only the GBA/NDS version may have slight difference, but all console and PC versions remain the same.
I was so fucking dissappointed when I got this when I was a kid. I remember that I thought the game was broken because there was no open world area. I just started playing thinking that it will eventually be unlocked but the open world school never did unlock! I was so pissed!
I think the first 3 games were the best and totally agree with your number 1. Harry Potter 1 game... I'm in my early twenties and it still gives me chills. :P
Chamber of Secrets was my favorite one, it has much control units compared with the first game. The most beautiful part is if you couldn't find all the wizard cards except gold ones, you can just buy it in the game. I had always left one card in some of the challenges. What a game was it.
@@vlogergames well one or two silver card and bronz cards had always left, ı was not able to find all the secret areas in the challenges, however at the second game it is a good option to buy the rest of the cards. But the final part was really easy and funny. Till that moment there are lots of things to do :)
Hopefully, the devs for the new Harry Potter game coming out next year can give us that same level of passion and love the first three HP games had; but with even better quality, design, and gameplay ideas that probably couldn't be implemented before because of the limitations they had with the technology. Really hoping for this... We need a new HP game. The possibilities of unique game design are endless in that world.
Oh man, great games here. This really brings back memories. My one suggestion would be replace Goblet of Fire with Harry Potter World Quidditch Cup and the list is perfect. That game was an overlooked gem
No half-blood prince! I always felt Half-Blood Prince did what OotP tried to do, but better. I also really enjoyed the minigames it had. I enjoyed your list otherwise though. Harry Potter 2 is without a doubt the game I think of when someone brings up harry potter video games. The open world was incredible for it's time.
@@_fawkes I searched every crevice of my house... I searched Area 51... I even searched the far reaches of the universe... but I just couldn't find who asked.
i just skipped through it, so i can't say i agree with your reasoning, seeing as i didn't listen to it, but any list that has chamber of secrets and prisoner of azkaban as the top two is always valid. a full open world game in the same vein would be perfect.
thanks! I am really hoping that after fantastic beasts is done they'll make a quidditch through the ages film series and then make a proper quidditch game to be honest! I always loved those parts of the games!
I like the 6th game because you can duel with your friends, I really enjoyed the Order of the Phoenix but I wish I had access to all the rooms in the castle, but my absolute favorite is The Prisoner of Azkaban, the PS2 version. I played both the PC and PS2 and I think the PS2 is way better.
the casting of the spells didn't work that well for me but that might be an issue on my end. I like the idea a lot though! I also love how open and explorable hogwarts is in that game but the story of the game is just sooooo slow and boring. (to be fair not a lot of interesting things happen in the movie of books that would work for a game maybe)
@@vlogergames I fully agree. I like the old school way of casting spells. And despite having a pretty accurate model of Hogwarts, the game felt hollow and extremely repetative when not doing the main quest (which was awfully short).
yeah I'd love a harry potter game that's just the whole series where the castle doesn't change from game to game and si full of secrets and little things that require spells you might not get until like year 5!!! So what I want is lego harry potter but not lego and actually good... if only that would ever happen :(
@@vlogergames i wish they didn't ruined those games after the 3rd game. I've played other games but just for a moment, didn't like those. The first 3 I keep playing even today!
I've only played every version of the first 3 games, but I'll try to rank them. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PC) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PC) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (PS1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (PS1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (PC) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (GC/PS2/XBOX) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GBA) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (GC/PS2/XBOX) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GBC) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (GBC) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (GBA) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GC/PS2/XBOX) Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (GBA) I've also played the 2 LEGO games, but it almost wouldn't be fair to include them since they are obviously far better than any of the others.
In truth all HP games have something great. My favorite is still HP 4. With HP 5 (it's good you have there all Hogwards to you) I feel that they just did control c control v with first big half and the second big half, some quests difrend and done.
Personal Top 5: 1) Chamber of Secrets PC 2) Quidditch World Cup PC 3) Prisoner of Azkaban PC 4) Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 PC 5) Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7 PC
I know this video is old, but I’m gonna try my luck and ask if there’s any place to download the old games on PC. I played the first game as a kid and remember loving it (don’t know how I’d feel about it now though lol). I looked everywhere for it and at most I found some amazon sellers that were just a tad shady.
Harry Potter games 2 and 3 were my favourites. 5 and 6 weren't too bad. Unfortunately EA was mostly aiming at profit rather than making exciting games. Plotwise it could have been similar to books or movies. Instead it was random.
LOL I've only played the chamber of secrets and that was when it came out back in the day. Been playing it recently though just to look back at it.. likely why I was suggested this video LOL 🤣
I only really looked at the " main" games, but i also honestly had no idea that game had a PC version until I made this video and people started to comment about it haha
the first 2 games are a nightmare to install and play on any modern system. I dont know about windows 11 but it's bad on windows 10 too. I can only imagine it'll get worse with more new systems.
For me, I'd switch Chamber of Secrets with Prisoner of Azkaban. But that mostly stems from that I played on the PS version, not the PC version. I just thought the tPoA was way better on PS than tCoS. But since I haven't played the PC versions, I won't judge this list too much. Although, you should've just made a "Top 4" instead. That way you didn't need to include Goblet of fire ;)
@@vlogergames Yeah, HP6 felt like HP5 but way less. And both HP7 games were just, urgh. Having to play through them to even put them on the list would be too close to torture
@@vlogergames Pretty sad to find that truth, too many good games removed from store or never hit the store, we cant pay our respect to the game developer by buying them then
@@lord_deus You can download Philosopher's stone from apunkagames.biz and the Chamber of Secrets from oceanofgames.com they are both free and full version. I just installed them today again i love them. If you also want prisoner of azkaban you can tell me.
while I usually would agree with you there are 2 reasons, in this case, Sorcerer's stone makes more sense. #1 The game is developed by an American developer as far as I know so it makes sense to use the American version of the name #2 more importantly, however, the game is a tie-in with the film which was called sorcerer's stone, even in England for some reason. Usually, I do advocate using the names from the original source material but this is a rare case where I actually think it's ok not to use it. That being said, the fact that they changed it to sorcerer's stone, to begin with with the book is stupid indeed.
@@vlogergames - It's always been Philosopher's Stone in the UK. The reason that it is Sorcerer's Stone in the US is because Warner Bro didn't think the word "philospher" would be marketable to the American audience. It was a very common question here back in the day because no-one could understand why it was given a different title elsewhere despite being the same language, but JK Rowling had confirmed in an interview it was a decision pitched by WB. She gave them that one, which was pretty much the only thing she gave them as they wanted to shoot the films in Holywood style with an American cast initially. I don't mind holywood style, but admittedly I'm glad that the Harry Potter franchise didn't go down that route because I think it would have lost a lot of its charm by doing so.
@@jamescopeland6428 I didn't realize the american books name wasn't changed, only the movie. interesting! I'm also glad they didn't go full Hollywood on the series, even though starting at movie 5, it kinda leans very Hollywood style anyway
as open world as games of that time were anyway. yeah you go through the story linearly but at any point during the first 3 games you can decide to go mess about and explore the castle. just because there is a linear story doesn't mean the game can't have an open world structure, even if a lot of modern open world games kinda do away with story telling an let you figure things out on your own.
@@vlogergames Bullshit..I have played the whole HP series,from 1 to 8. If you don't like HP 7 & 8, it's ur head's problem, or it's ur PC's problem.....
There is hope. But i dont believe you would find them, if you got one that one would not work on todays PC. I grew on HP goblit of fire at it is for Windows 7 vista
Does anyone know how I can download any of these games? Especially The Half Blood Prince and The Order Of The Phoenix. EA don`t sell them anymore, so can someone tell me how I can download them, or where I can buy them? Much appreciated.
Buffen search for a crack online. I played The Half Blood Prince again on pc with a controller. Don’t be surprised though it won’t be anywhere nearly as good as it was when you were a kid
This list was doomed from the beginning since there are only 4 good Harry Potter PC games (and he didn't even list one of them). Goblet of fire was hot garbage, it's the sole reason I stopped playing the games after that one (I never even tried to finish it because it was so bad). I do totally agree about the Sorcerers Stone controls, they are very "prehistoric" if you will. My top 4 list would be Prizoner of Azkaban, Chamber of Secrets, Quiditch World Cup, then Sorcerers Stone. I have to give POA the edge because I think it's the best gameplay and has the best exploration/secrets. It just barely edges out COS. Quiditch World Cup is absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. The challenges are challenging and you can play it multiple times over with multiple teams. Sorcerers Stone is still fantastic but it is very limited.
Lmao any list that includes Goblet of Fire is invalid by default. That game put the majority of HP fans off of playing the games for a long time. It’s hands down the absolute worst. Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets & Prisoner are the holy trinity. Order of the Phoenix is solid as well. Half-Blood Prince was weaker, but it still had some great moments. The rest is *TRASH*
I think the issues order and goblet have are different, goblet has a lot of gameplay issues which are annoying as hell and for some reason choose to go with a level select screen, which might just be the worst. but order is just straight up boring. at that point it's down to what you value more. half blood just didn't grab my attention at all, but that might be partly due to order having put me off so much. deathly hallows are both MUCH worse than anything on this list though, worse than goblet by quite a bit I'd say.
@@vlogergames I agree about Hallows being worse since it throws any sort of exploration out of the window completely and feels more like a Harry Potter themed shooter game. Order CAN get boring because it's so big and there's so much to do, but that's exactly what I love about it. It's a great game if you take breaks and don't try to beat it in one go. I do miss some of the zany/campy elements of the first three titles though, I always felt like it was unnecessary to get rid of all the fun fantasy gameplay features (Spongify haha)
@@laracroftvideos hm thats an interesting perspective I played them all back to back within like 2 or so weeks for this video so maybe I should give order another look
@@vlogergames That makes sense now! Honestly, I can’t imagine playing games back-to-back like that haha, I always space them out. But I understand it was necessary for the sake of putting the video out and you did do a great job even if I don’t agree with your ranking of GoF 😅

Order of Phoenix is the best hands down . The idea of this world is to be a part of Hogwarts more compared to Harry's journey . In the OOTP you can explore Hogwarts freely .😊
