radar missiles are pretty op at close range, undodge/notchable and you can use it in rear aspect at close range

It also helps the the mig-29's r-27er is 10 years more advanced then almost anything in the aircraft tech tree.

I see no bad takes here. Personally I’d go with the f14b as my number 1 now. I don’t mind fiddling with radar controls and even use the manual mode often so I can choose weather the radar is looking up or down and pick the target by hand. Flight performance also just extremely good, the new engines can quite easily let it keep up with the f16 and mig29 in a BFM fight.

im gonna say that in terms of flight performance, all of the planes on this list are extremely balanced together. i dont think any plane is above another (the only exception being the BLK15/20 vs the F-16AJ). when you take off the limiting factor of the instructor for RB, then you start to really bring out the flight models of the planes.

I agree with mainly everything here this is a bit personal to me but personally I’d see the f-16aj or even adf as number 1 sure the adf is a bit heavier but I find it’s easier for it to pull harder at slower speeds since it can bleed off speed quicker granted I know AoA fighting isn’t that effective but the absolutely busted f-16 flight performance let’s you do it anyway and still have energy. Also for the current meta because of staying low ER’s don’t feel threatening to me at all so just having an arguably better ir missile than a mig-29 (it’s widely accepted that the 9L is superior but eh I’d be fine with r-60s tbh) is already nice coupled with a low fuel load the turn performance isn’t too bad. And really it’s faster than everything except a 29 so you can run down everything and the f-14 is so easy to push that I just can’t put it above the f-16 or 29. The best part is because of its fantastic flight performance whenever a mig is trying to run me down I have absolutely no fear understanding I will destroy it in a dogfight pretty much all the time people say their comparable in turn performance but I’ve yet to see that be true. And despite people saying you can’t look everywhere at once as it turns out I definitely can and I never really take an r-60 up the ass, intuition, positioning and looking saves you from all that. Sorry for the essay but yeah that’s just my subjective view on the f-16 EDIT:and objectively I understand the 29 is better but to me who understands how to actually not fucking die lmao it is a very easy plane to counter and I never feel pressured by it nor the f-14B nor other f-16 variants nothing really. Maybe it’s because I play to my aircraft’s strengths well. Maybe it’s because their ass players idk but it’s just my opinion

Where would you say the Mig 23 (ML, MLD, MLA) fits into this list? Would it rank somewhere around the 7-8 range or a little higher in the 9-10 range?

The end talking about the 27er is 100% the speed you can see a sparrow get launched at you, wait a few seconds launch your Er then just notch and slow down and your missile will hit first almost everytime, and also yea the hmd with the r 60m is nice it lets you get the missiles off at weird angles making people not see them as often

I feel the Yak-141 deserves at least an honorable mention(though personally I would put it in 4th place) purely because it does the R27ER better than even the MiG29. It’s flight performance is so memey that most people don’t even know how to fight you and can easily get one circled(I know a one circle is like the least consistent way to win a dogfight). It’s small missile capacity is also not that big of a deal since auxiliary missiles are either an AIM7F equivalent or a slightly worse R-24.

In terms of AJ vs Netz, just like how you can't always be looking around for IR missiles, you aren't always going to be in position and ready to evade a SARH (though as goes for every missile, good players will die to it much less). This is why the 27ER is so good because you just instantly delete anyone who even half considers taking a bad line. Good idea putting them together on the list though, as both planes are 2 minmaxed sides of the same coin.

As someone who has played all of these plane, yes, the mig 29 is the top dog by a long shot. It's got great speed, a good flight model, decent IR missiles, AMAZING (best in the game) SARH missiles, and HMD. And yes, the HMD is a game changer. It is a huge advantage in a turn fight. After having played the Mig 29, I find it frustrating with other aircraft when I have to point the nose directly at the target to lock a missile... with the 29's HMD, so many possibilities and trick shots are opened up. All of this combined makes it the best.

I basically put it this way: All missiles are god tier when your opponent lacks awareness. It's incredible how hard it can be to hit someone with a 9L when they are paying attention for the launch and actually flare in time. That goes for literally everything lmao

I don’t play top tier, but I do enjoy watching videos like this. The fact that a 27ER matches a Phoenix range means I’m comfortable with my decision to stick with the gunfighters. Sure, it’s more manoeuvrable, but longer range? I don’t think so. Vatnik bias? Maybe not. But it’s suspicious that the majority of broken stuff comes from their stable. Same with tanks. IRL the T72+ auto loader turns out to be a cheat key for the turret tossing olympics but in game, it’s hard to hit the ammo. Their war crime invasion has shown this is not how it works.

Ironically enough, I have much more success with Navy Phantoms than F-14s. Sure, flight performance, and especially acceleration on B is great, but I'm fighting my own radar more often than I fight the enemy. ACM capped at 9km, no HMD and manually managing radar dish for off boresight locks... there's a reason why Tomcat is two seater.

If I did this kind of list id add the F-4E in place of the F-14A. Sure it doesn't have PD radar, sure it doesn't get access to Aim-7F's or aim-54s but.. IF YOU know how to fly it its an absolute BEAST. The aim7e2 DF's are actually very underrated and will pull the same amount of G's as the 7F, the only difference is that they don't fly as far but in todays meta of sub 10km engagements that's fine with me. And the AIM-9J isnt all that bad of a missile, it can pull 20g which is 2 more than the aim9H or aim9g the f-14 or other phantoms can carry and its at least a 3 km range missile if the situation is good. And lets not forget the manueverability of this plane, for a phantom its good and being 11.0 it constantly sees downtiers rn of 10.0 because of the matchmaker, and thats insane. Fighting 10.0 jets with 10g missiles and no flares while you have 25g sparrows and 90 flares is nuts to me. (acm mode on the radar gets you locks you didnt think you could get, try it out sometime)

R27 not only fast it has its own guiding system thats only alivable on the mig29 and mig23 and only way to survive it is to hug the ground u cant noch or cheff it

MiG 29 can also disengage after it realises that it got too slow with an F16 because mf got better acceleration and top speed Then it comes down to how F16 denies that escape with 9L's/Phytons

I don't think that having only IR missiles in top tier makes a good plane, maybe right now it does but once people start to learn that all they need to do is cut the afterburner and drop a flare the "Netz" won't be very good (missile wise)

Hey Seek quick question. How are you able to go to high altitude at top tier and not get constantly spiked by radar and get missiles shot at you? Every time I do it, I get missiles hit at me and then I have to descend to lower altitude.
