The Wing Gundam Ver KA was one of my first Ver KA model kits. I own 4 different versions of the MG Tallgeese and all of the standard MG EW releases and the MG The Glory Of The Losers expansion set. I’m pretty sure that Katoki worked on all of these kits. But they are all fun kits to build and paint.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel I’m curious, what does my comment being pinned mean? I see the little thumb tack symbol next to it. Is this a comment that you like more than others or something like that?
you'd be surprised to know how many kits Katoki designed. For example the HGUC line was his idea and he did many of its first designs. Regarding MGs, along with the kits that were already mentioned in the comments, you'd be surprised to know he designed: Guncannon, Z'Gok, Zaku II F-2, Gogg, Zeong and Gundam Unit 4 and 5.
I'd argue the Tallgeese stands out amongst the EW gundam kits as something that has Katoki's thumb deep in it's development Also a very honourable mention is the Zeta; he's not only behind pretty much all of the releases, but also very responsible for the perception on how the suit looks. There's a good reason he picked Zeta as his anniversary kit
The one thing I’m learning is the zeta gundam, he worked on it? I mean I know there is a zeta ver ka but him working on the original design is new to me.
Looking forward to your review on MG EXpensive Unicorn and Striike Freedom. Cool and good content by the way. Love it and I could start to hunt those kits down.
Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever get those kits, maybe one day. So please don’t hold your breath for a review. But if I ever make a review video of those I’m gonna be sure to let you know.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel take your time. I still collecting money for MGEx unicorn. Hope there is Banshee or Phenex. To be honest, I prefer these 2 rather Unicorn itself
was actually looking for a video showing off the differences between the Ver Ka. Unicorn and the Anime/OVA version lol - had no idea the Anime/OVA version came out after the fact!
I have the MS Cage version and I can actually assemble the Ver ka version if I wanted to. I think it's the same with the ver ova. They include the runners. If you really want the ver KA.... Go for the full armor unicorn ver KA. 😜
Lucked out in securing myself an MG Turn A which is now midway in my stash, never really liked it initially but I came around after learning about it more. I'm also still not on board with the Tallgeese train but I'm giving it time, haha. Now, if we can only get a reprint of the Turn X, hopefully soon, I need that asymmetrical beast in my collection! Thanks for the video, this was an interesting watch.
I guess the Sinanju (OVA) and Sinainju Stein Narrative version would also be Ver. Kas going by your logic on the Unicorn. Very educational video, the only ones I knew about were the EW MG's.
Not surprised to see people mention Sentinel, but he worked on the V Gundams too as far as I know, although it may be that only ver ka kits of those exist (I haven’t collected any of them or seen/read them). I like all the Wing kits, but some of his work like the new Zeta is a little too slimmed down for my taste. I like my Gundams chunky.
I do love my zeta 2.0… to me no need for the ver ka. I do notice katoki is starting to bulk his design. I do think the chest of the ver ka zeta looks chunkier. And the mgex unicorn looks chunkier too.
@@Toyama23HobbyChannel I'm happy with the 2.0 as well. Interesting point, looking at pictures the MGEX is a bit chunkier. Hmmm maybe that should be my first MG Unicorn then - I've built the RG FA and an MG Phenex that I repaired and built for someone else - Didn't much like the experience so I never got one for myself of any version. Thanks for the info, food for thought.
I’ve built the 2.0 and Ver.Ka Zeta and I was surprised at how chonky the Ver.Ka was in comparison to the 2.0! The product pictures really didn’t do it justice! The Ver.Ka was such a great build, I also love the proportion of the hand pieces, they’re MASSIVE.
Some like the MG Unicorn OVA Ver. technically does "count" as majority if not almost all except the new parts are from the Ver. Ka kit (same as the Wing EW which the only new part is the stand connector), but stuff like the RG Unicorn, RG Wing EW, PG Strike Freedom, MG Turn A, and the rest of the Endless Waltz kits are only designed by him concept wise (aka the illustration you see in the manuals/linerats, hence the credit in the MG Turn A manual) but product design is still just regular Bandai r&D. What most don't get is that the actual "Ver. Ka" kits or figures (like Gundam Fix Figuration, or Robot Spirits Ka Signature) is that Katoki himself has involvement in the engineering of the plastic model/figure which is why you see Katoki going in depth during a Ver. Ka release showing he directed on how the kit was made. Whereas the other examples given he only did the redesign on paper (on the line art sketches). Here is the behind the scenes of Zeta Ver. Ka which has his work in progress and notes, others like the ZZ even goes to show his hand made physical concept model. en.gundam.info/content/mgka/
@@michyoungie But isn't verka meaning is version katoki and based on his design? 🤔 Forget about regular release etc, isn't RG wing ew and unicorn based on version katoki too?
@@TheAshlight41 No they aren't because while they are based on Katoki's design sketch, but He himself didn't do any work/input on the engineering and just regular Bandai employees did those RG's. For it to count as Ver. Ka Katoki himself must be in charge and did work on the kit (at least that is the official designation by Bandai). Otherwise any kit that is copied from his sketch like the Ex-S, Kshatriya, Delta Plus, etc... would all be Ver. Ka's.
Any MG and HGUC kit that had line-art of the front and the rear that stated was drawn by katoki are ver. Kas. And I just realized... these versions were horrible! The HGUC RX-78... The first MG Zeta... Katoki messed up the look and proportions :( I'm done giving Katoki a pass. And his first actual ver. Ka which was the MG ball was a flawed design as the rear boosters cannot angle 90 degrees perpendicular to the ball. Though I honestly like his take on the Dom and Googs :D I'm Glad bandai hobby division was left to create the ver. 2 without Katoki's interference. Also, the majority of MG Seeds were based on Bee Craft's sketches... not Ka's. Though Ka's work on the new MG Zeta was alright. I also don't consider that as a ver. 3. Also the MG ZZ Ka ain't no ver 2.
