Thomas Alsgaard (born 10 January 1972) is a Norwegian former professional cross-country skier. Alsgaard is regarded by many as the best performer of the freestyle technique (skating) in cross-country skiing and many of today's best skiers have studied his technique. In total, Alsgaard won 15 medals in the Winter Olympics and FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, making him one of the most successful skiers of all time.
Teichmann started cross-country skiing at the age of ten. He completed his secondary education at Bad Lobenstein and, from 1993, at Oberhof. Since graduation in 1998, he has been aided in his sporting career by the German armed forces as a military athlete. In addition to professional sport, Teichmann studies electrical engineering at FernUniversität Hagen.
Alexander Alexandrovich Zavyalov (Russian: Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Завья́лов; born 2 June 1955) is a former Soviet/Russian cross-country skier who competed in the early 1980s, training at Armed Forces sports society. He won a bronze in the 50 km at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York and two silvers at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo (30 km, 4 × 10 km relay). Zavyalov won the Cross-Country World Cup in the 1982-83 season.
Cristian Zorzi (born August 14, 1972 in Cavalese, Trentino) is an Italian former cross-country skier who excelled at sprint ski races. He is nicknamed Zorro, for his exuberant character.
Jörgen Brink (born March 10, 1974 in Delsbo, Hälsingland) is a retired Swedish cross-country skier and biathlete who has competed since 1994. He earned three bronze medals at the 2003 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme (10 km + 10 km double pursuit, 50 km, and 4 × 10 km relay).
Silvio Fauner (born 1 November 1968 in San Pietro di Cadore, Province of Belluno) is an Italian former cross-country skier who competed from 1988 to 2006. His best known victory was part of the 4 × 10 km relay team that upset Norway at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. He also won four other medals at the Winter Olympics with silvers in the 4 × 10 km relay (1992, 1998) and bronzes in the 15 km (1994) and 30 km (1998).
Bjørn Erlend Dæhlie (born 19 June 1967) is a Norwegian businessman and retired cross-country skier. From 1992 to 1999, Dæhlie won the Nordic World Cup six times, finishing second in 1994 and 1998.[1] Dæhlie won a total of 29 medals in the Olympics and World Championships between 1991 and 1999, making him the most successful male cross-country skier in history.
Petter Northug Jr. (born 6 January 1986) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier and double Olympic champion. He won a total of 13 World Championship and 2 Winter Olympic gold medals with 20 medals overall (2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze at the Olympics, 13 gold and 3 silver at the World Ski Championships), and 18 individual FIS Cross-Country World Cup wins with 13 podium places. He is also the record holder for most stage wins (13) in Tour de Ski. By winning his ninth gold medal in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 4 × 10 km relay in Val di Fiemme 2013 he leveled[citation needed] the achievement of Bjørn Dæhlie who had been the most successful World Champion male skier up to that point.

Interesting to see the lack of a soft and deeper knee/ankle flexion during the earlier years of skate technique. Generations now grow up Skating resulting in enhanced mechanics. Thanks!

I’m biathlete here in Voss and Kristen Skjeldal is our ski trainer here at our topp athletes school😁 It’s really cool and inspiring to have an olympic champion as our trainer and even though he’s 54, we still can’t beat him at skiing😅 Just on our tunning tests haha

Most impressive finish is of course Petter Northug and not just this one! And I'm so happy because i was there in Falun 2015 and watching all races live! And even if I'm Swedish i absolutely think Petter Northug is the world's best cross country skiier in the history! Not just because what he accomplished! He's also a very interesting person outside the course! I loved his aura, picking on the Swedish guys before the race, Hellner and of course Halfvarsson 😂 It was a very sad day when he ended his career, cross country skiing lost their biggest name, just as big as Usain Bolt was in his sport! This video makes my Swedish heart want to cry when I watch Jörgen Brink collapse, but I'm so happy that he made 3 wins in a row in Vasaloppet! He was an amazing skiier! Thanks for this video! 🇸🇪❤️🇧🇻

Alsgaard for me the most talented skiier of all time, not the best, but he was so compleate. Could beat anyone down the finish strech yet also win single start 50 km.

As for me the most epic finish was on WC 1997 in Trondheim between Elena Valbe and Stefania Belmondo.

The amazing thing from the Falun 50k was that Northug was basically never at the front and only started his comeback in the last hill, running past everybody...

There is a saying in Norway ... "Where was you when Oddvar Brå broke his staff" ... I remember that episode on TV, we only had 1 TV channel so all sports was on that ofcourse. If memory is not messing up too much for me, at the time it was not normal for other nations to give staff to competing nations if something like that happend, but after that incident I think it was a deal that you do ... the commentator yelled when that happend... "Gi mannen en stav!!!" "Give that man a staff" ... and he broke it where Norway did not have any secundants with extra gear.

We should allow free doping use in sports. Look what happened to Cross Country Skiing lately. Basically no top athletes from Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belarus, Kazakztan, Poland, Ukraine, Canada, USA, Japan...
