The Tyler The Great Warrior card just goes to show how awesome Kazuski Takahashi and the Yu-Gi-Oh! team are. He and the voice actors for the show flew out to New York to meet Tyler and had him pick out designs and watch the card making process. Rip to an irreplaceable artist, a selfless man and the King Of Games.
Fun fact Tyler actually put it on auction not too long ago. And it was sold for over 300,000 bucks. He wanted to part with it so he can use the money for his business and family
So, when the person who offered over 400 grand for a blue eyes card got turned down, I assume they hired thugs to beat up the old man who owned it, then challenged his grandson to a duel.
I bet that number was bullshit, honestly. Two of the cards on this list were just "valued at", which means nothing. The other two that sold for absurd amounts I could seriously believe were being used in a money laundering operation, like fine art. No joke, I genuinely believe 2 million dollars were laundered via a yugioh card.
It's becoming much more popular to broaden your financial portfolio by picking up collectibles. And at these prices, I would bet some of the buyers were doing exactly that. Kinda sucks as a longtime player to see that but (glass half full) at least it means they believe in the longterm future of this game which is a good sign.
@@boobyslater9390im sure its just valued at 2mil. Last i watched Rhystic Study's video regarding black lotus he made an example which is the BLS estimated value but until it is actually sold it is still an imaginary value.
another fun fact: this was also around the time the duelist kingdom finals of the yugioh manga were being published. the reason why the black luster soldier seems like such a weird and out of nowhere card in yugi's deck and never saw much relevance after that is because the chapter where it debuted was a promotion for this tournament prize
@@BananaMana69it is however ritual cards didn’t exist yet, these were like pre release prize cards for cards that didn’t exist yet, also there is no actual confirmed sale for $2,000,000. It’s all speculation to the true value.
That blue eyes is gonna get more and more pricey now that Takahashi-sensei has left us. Rest in peace you beautiful man, I can only hope konami doesn't burn your wonderful creation to the ground... who am I kidding they're going full mtg.
Wow the theme Reminds me of many 2000 jp ln i used to read... And we need a part 2 100% Great one through and through From voice to acting to Skript etc. Well done!
My mom throwing away all my Yu-Gi-Oh cards she bought me growing up 😮. Yea, I had 10 Blue Eyes all foils, Pot of greed and monster reborn, and a slew of other cards she bought back in the early 2000ths.
I had 4 1st edition blue eyes as well as many other rare cards. Pokémon cards were all 1st editions then. It just seems we all don’t appreciate anything till it’s worth something
@@stuart2littlle18 most people dont. But trust me, some long time fans saved their yugioh cards and made well over $100,000 in 2016 and 2020. Some known youtubers as well
The second card is supposed to be ultimate dragon, with metallic looking rarity While Black Luster Soldier was full metallic They sound like a big fan of ygo made em
No way! I definitely have the first two cards stored away because of the original Kaiba and Yugi set packs. Also, including the 1st gen Pokemon set, and I can only wonder the possibilities 😮
Any Yu-gi-oh card has 0 intrinsic value. They're all worth basically nothing, their only real value is the paper and ink they're printed on/with. Just like paper money or a celebrity's used condom, their value is determined by what people are willing to pay for them. One thing that greatly aids what people believe a card's value should be is exclusivity. An exclusive card will command more value because it's at least rare(r) in comparison to other cards. You have an extremely exclusive card with a huge backstory to it in the Tyler card, so yeah it's _essentially_ priceless.
@@KingM119 No, it can not. Because some things have intrinsic value. Yugioh cards don't _do_ anything, they are not components to anything. They are not measurable by quality. A table or a chair or a car or a house has intrinsic value. The car can be measured in its ability to accelerate or haul luggage. You can't argue with those physical traits. Yugioh cards only have value if you agree it has value, even what the card does within the mechanics of the game is ethereal. I can say my Blue Eyes White Dragon has 100000000 attack points because I fingered a girl with it and it has special vagina powers now, and there's nothing to really gauge that against other than some words printed on a piece of card paper. You can't say your car is capable of going 1000 miles an hour, it physically can not do that and therefore is clearly slower when classed with something capable of going 1000 miles an hour. There's a clear physical gauge.
You should mention a card that technically isnt supposed to exsist, it was a world tournament grand prize, horatkey the creator god of light, only seen in the anime previously
Man, I can't get over the sick card art of that Kazuki Takahashi signed Blue-Eyes. Just a timeless depiction, fitting for DM and DSOD all at the same time, Kisara looks in her full glory with her magnificence contrasting the endless expanse of the heavens, wish we could see an Egyptian based Mahad, maybe back to back with Atem or something.
I thought the Japanese alternate art “blue eyes ultimate dragon” was one of them because it was the only one printed in the world which u can only find it in Japan in one store holding it
That black luster soldier one I have those when I was young. We got a Yu GI oh cards that came from Japan and those are in really good condition. Shame that back then we didn't knew the value of the cards and just played with it.
Holy crap I used to have that Cyber Stein from shonen jump. I still have all my old magazines too 1-70ish. And old Beckett magazines the cool DBZ one lol.
You forgot to mention what makes that luster soldier a one of a kind. Couldn’t get much from that one second I saw it. I am genuinely curious as to why it went for 2 million compared to that pretty sick looking blue eyes
Some good cards to mention are the alternate art yugioh world championship prize cards in asia that were never reprinted. The Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon alt art was last reported to be priced at over $400,000 in 2018
Not necessarily, getting stuff graded isn’t a scam. Having something authenticated matters, you don’t necessarily have to get a number assigned to something but in this industry it matters.
I think you should include Dark Magician Girl G3-11 The first DMG version ever printed on the history of Yugioh. Recently it has valued for 125k$ in a trade
Man, when I was around 10 I was so clos3 to winning a cyber stein, when I won my way into the event my group I "rode up with" didn't want me playing my normal deck and gave me the magical scientist otk, and it ended up coming down to if a placed trap was torrential or cylinder/sakuretsu, and how I played around it. Well, it didn't matter regardless, because I found out if I HAD won it. They were going to steal it from me and leave me stranded half way across the states. Man so many memories, card players are such scumbags
Hold on. I still have my old cards that I collected in 5th grade and I kid you not I have that cyberstein and blue eyes. My not be psa 10 but I kept them in my card book so they should be well preserved. I never thought those cards would go for that much. I haven't looked at my cards in years. There's no telling what kind of gems I have. I'm definitely going to check now 😮
The asian blue eyes’ value has skyrocketed since kazuki died, hell even the special edition dark magician where it was also autographed would be sold for just as much now
Yo if tyler the great warrior stacks that damage eapual to the destroyed monsters attack AND the normal damage from destroying it, it's no wonder they don't print anymore that's STROOOONG af. That's like the best make a wish I've seen, getting one of the most op cards made based on him
Its not a “blue-eyes white dragon”, its the “blue-eyes ultimate dragon” and it was given to the winner of 2001 asia championship, it is also called Armor Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, as it is rumored to have a special artwork and rarity and also its signed, it has never been seen from the public eye, has no picture of it anywhere, the man who has it is sitting on a treasure that will get to millions real soon
Wow I cant believe how accurate your list was it had every card I expected in a normal order. There're a lot of honorable mentions though like JinzoJar or PSA 10 Crush Card Virus (50k)
I have so many og mint condition 1st edition and limited edition cards that I didn’t even think anything about them being worth money. Exodia the forbidden one, dark magician, dark magician of chaos, several different versions of blue eyes, and so many more. To see some of these just go scroll through my shorts
Bruh prices for YuGiOh cards have blown up since the last time I bothered to check.... 2 of my 3 Dark Magicians are like 30-50$ each. My 2 Blue Eyes are around 20-30$ each. The Black Luster Soldier I have is in the 20-30$ range. And the MVP all of a sudden is the Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon I have that's north of 125$ at this point.... Once upon a time the most valuable card I had was my Mirror Force, which has retained it's value in the 10$ range but clearly some things have changed and a lot of prices shot up pretty significantly....
What I wouldn't give to back in time to my 10yr old self and say "bro, seal those bits of card in a box, leave it in the attic". Whilst I doubt I was rocking a 30k card, I was deeply invested in the game and trading at school.. so damn many cards.
damn i am so glad i got my hands on one of those blue eyes white dragon cards, i have the english version though. rip to a true hero and a contributor to my amazing childhood 🥺 left this world saving a kid and making millions happy 🫡 🇯🇵
Brooooo this hurts. Had probably 5 perfect blue eyes in sleeves and a bunch of other things that are probably expensive, never knew they'd be worth so much. Not sure where they ended up, I'm positive they've been thrown out though
I sold my ungraded 1st edition LOB BEWD for $40 when I was 14. Didn’t know shit about prices but with that $40 I bought Pokemon emerald for my gba. Which I then traded to GameStop years later when I preordered Pokemon Heart Gold. Then I sold all of my old my old Pokemon games to GameStop for store credit to buy a switch (which I still have). I have made some pretty poor choices when I was younger
Literally when I was a kid I had the holo blue eyes shining dragon depicted in this video, red eyes black dragon, a couple pieces of exodia and some other rare ones. I raffled them away in 5th grade for star points so I could exchange them for candy out of my teachers prize box 🫠
And to think I still have these sealed in a card book stored away in our basement… it’s been so long, had no idea they had such high value. Might look into this.
