I love curling and also bowls, to send something that distance, with curve, and get it so close to where you want it, then you add tactics into the mix and that's what makes a sport that sounds really boring into something rivetting to watch.
the thing that amazes me the most is how they never accidentally hit another rock. I've still yet to see it. I'm sure its happened but you'd think it happens more often with how congested things get while they are sweeping
@@erikcolwell4356 They also typically clean it at the halfway point of the game, they also shave down the pebble and re-pebble it between games. At least at competition level
One year later I'm here to tell you all that it was a joke. The joke is djay the player are sweeping the floor themselves hence why it does not require cleaning. Again it's a joke. We all know that such a playing fields probably need atomic kind of leveling. But the joke was funny anyway.
They're emphatically advising lol. Sweeping helps keep the rock straighter and so these guys call them off and on because they're making such precise shots.
@@irgids When the sweepers call numbers it usually means the zone that the rock will stop in. 7 is usually on the button, number gets lower if it is short (1-4 would typically be guards) and larger number if it goes deeper past the button
They have like a slider attached to the bottom of one shoe (usually made of teflon) which helps them slip They have 1 slidy foot and 1 grippy foot. They also have a kipper (gripper) that they can put of the slidy shoe so they have 2 grippy shoes
It's kinda hard to understand but I'll try explain it a bit There is 8 stones, 4 players Each player throws 2 stones each The position are 1. Lead (throws first 2 stones) 2. second (throws third and fourth stone) 3. 3rd or vice skip (throws fifth and sixth stone) (skips when it's the skips turn to throw their stones) 4. Skip (throws seventh and eighth stones) 2 sweeper A skip Skip shows the person throwing the stone where to aim, how much ice to take, what handle to do, what shot to play ect The sweepers sweep if the stone is too slow and needs help getting to the house or to help with the line (the direction it's going) skip Yeah=yes sweep Woah= stop sweeping Stones closest to the button are shot Example 2 yellow in the 4 foot 2 red in the 8 foot and 1 yellow in the 12 foot the yellow get 2 points on that end
