Canned air. Great to blow dirt or unburned powder from a gun and mag. Poke a hole in a foam ear plug to run the straw through and you can even pop most squibs or a stuck case back into the open chamber. A strip magnet on the range box cover. These are great for keeping small tools wrangled in a range box. Use them to organize magazines too. A solid brass rod. Another squib removal tool. The brass toilet float rods work great for this. A pick up magnet. Pick up your steel cases. Find a dropped screw, pin, or spring.

Thanks for the tips. A paster gun and pasties is on my buy list now. How about adding: Extra Ear Pro - For buds or those who left theirs behind. A bag of inexpensive foam ear plugs, or non electronic headsets that work, but not too expensive to have an extra. Extra Eye Pro - Have an inexpensive pair or two. Extra batteries for your optics, headsets, lights, etc.

I can't believe I went to an indoor gun range and they didn't stock the AAA batteries that I needed for my headset even though they sell the same head set there! So yeah, extra batteries.

For Indoor training/matches , I use a Nanuck 938 rolling case - can get in all my stuff, holster belt , a few pistols in sleeves , my SB PCC with a folding stock and an ammo case . Add to your list : a Dewalt Carbon Fiber Composite staple gun , DLead wipes , range knife , 8” Dirty Bird splatter targets for zeroing, small hand towel ,a cleaning rag , small first aid kit, shot timer. Outdoors , I throw the water proof Nanuck into a folding wagon with all terrain wheels - holds the range box , folding stool and a little cooler

A little bit of extra, some cheap eye and ear pro , scope cleaning cloth, another water bottle. There's always someone who forgets the basics. As for the wife and I, we show up with everything, we are ready to host a party when we go to the range, table, chairs, canopy, cooler (non-alcoholic and snacks), a tarp and bucket to help collect brass and hulls, a target rich environment from paper to golf balls to steel, first aid kit that has only been opened for bandaids and sometimes throwing knives and tomahawks.

Dump pouch. Saves a lot of picking up and cleaning mags (off the clock mag changes) Gloves for resetting steel targets if used (if you aren't wearing them all the time, keep a pair hanging out of a pocket). Keeps the dirt, mud, lead off your hands, gear and weapons. Good video/content.

1) Range Case is esssential-as are the mini kits for specialty stuff. 2) Shoot n See targets--slap a new one one over the old one and move on. 3) Truly a multi tool and some lube will save the day just about every time. 4) Chair!!! 5) Have enough mags to shoot without reloading at the range. Buy one here, two there, and pretty soon you have a few hundred rounds worth for a qucik and easy shoot session. Then speedload! Thanks as always for the great info!!!

I need to get a speed loader, but it's more of a convenience thing to me. Plus, I don't mind spending the extra time thumbing rounds in at the range. It's a subtle way to acclimate yourself to gunfire if you're new or don't shoot often. I used to have a sandbag rifle rest that I can't remember what happened to, but miss it almost every time I go shoot. That's about all I can think to add.

I agree that a hard plastic (tool-type) box, with a lid, is essential! I have two and they protect my handgun, many mags, and related gear while going to the ranges / hunting / competition / or training events. Plus, they are waterproof, dust proof, and keeps all the shooting gear at one place when the wind blows everyone else’s gear all around the range.

A boo-boo kit! I am not talking about your IFAK (which you always carry on you right? Right??) A boo-boo kit is made for those small cuts/scrapes/burns you get during training that don’t require you to use up your Israeli bandages. Example: Hitting your head on a bare-metal surface when doing a drill inside of a vehicle and then having blood dripping from your forehead to your eyes. Not life-threatening but you still have to address it if you want to continue training without looking like an absolute psycho.

A couple of things that I would recommend are sharpies in different colors and a camp table. Not all of us drive pickups with a tailgate, so a good foldable camp table is handy. REI is a good place to look. For me speed loaders are a must. I have old arthritic hands. Do you know where I can get one for loading 6mm ARC AR15 mags? It is the only AR caliber that I don’t have a speed loader for.

Occasionally one of my shooting buddies will poke fun at things I bring to the range. And then I’m laughing when I’m sitting in shade with unblistered thumbs, resting while they are still standing pasting targets and jamming mags. Time and efficiency on the range is just as important as the content of your training

Love your list. Have all, especially if your girlfriend is your range partner, the folding chair was the first addition I never had! Lol. Also, since I haven't bought a real shot timer yet, I use a phone app, my gf doesn't like being too close when I'm shooting. I added a selfie stick so she could keep the phone close enough and still sit in the chair! Lol

How often (after how many rounds) at the range one would need to clean a gun for it to function again? When I do a range session I usually fire a max of 100 rounds ...
@moushunter
@moushunter Год назад
Your supposed to clean your guns ? LOL I go 500 rounds or more without issue in Semis. Revolvers get more attention than that. The harder they are to reassemble (Ruger mark series 22s) the less frequently they get cleaned.
@pierreb7878
@pierreb7878 Год назад
@@moushunter I am sure that after 500 rounds it still look factory new. But with time a gun will get "carbon" deposit or even worst fooling if you shoot exotic amo (non FMJ). Your call. Mine is that I prefer to clean after each range session rather than having a gun malfunction when I "really" needed it.
