Top 5 Most Unexpected Players to Take a Game From Armada - Super Smash Bros

Armada is the best SSBM player in the world, and is by far the most consistent player I have ever seen. However, he is still human, and every once and a while a complete wildcard will play absolutely out of their mind and manage to take a game off of the world's best.
It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it is so hype.

PS: All of the players in the main clips have never been ranked on any MIOM SSBMRank besides Bizz (Who was ranked #98 in 2015) which just makes them taking a game off of Armada that much more impressive!

I think in the case of Armada, it was more a case of people being excited to see underdogs win. Hungrybox, on the other hand, is a player people want to see lose.

Fun fact: On Armada's first trip to America at Genesis 1 in 2009, he lost the first game to a Ganon named WhatisFear in pools. A lot of people saw this and basically started calling Armada overrated, he wouldn't make top 16, etc. Armada said the TV was laggy and after the TOs tested it and determined it was laggy they switched to a different TV and Armada won the next 2 games to win the set 2-1. If they didn't switch TVs Armada could have lost in pools at his first American tournament and it could have changed everything.

Genesis 1 has round robin pools and Armada won 5-0. So losing to one player would've still let him get out of pools

@@dataman6310 It could have changed his seeding and maybe he would have ran into Hungrybox for example. He might not have run into M2K at all. I don't know how they did seeding at the event.

Adam Ice the only low tier he lost to was sopo. Gannondorf is were the split between mid tiers and low tiers beginning and he's lowest mid tier. All the others were mid tier and Pikachu is at the door of high tier.

Watch Shinobi's face cam at like 2:46. It sure looks like that illusion was an accident, but was able to shorten it to save himself. You can see him flinch when it happens.

Armada is so consistent its an event when someone takes a game off of him. He's so disciplined and good at Melee. I have a ton of respect for the guy. He's definitely in a tier of his own. Props to anyone who takes a game off of him, let alone an entire set.

FullPie S well typically hes erratic and a high skill curve character. Because of that skill curve he tends to be unreliable and unseen in most US/EU tournaments.

He's honestly mediocre considering the skill and tech that goes with him, but if you put the time in then I can guarantee you'll see results. No one knows how to deal with yoshi too well so you automatically have a starting advantage. If you have the game try him out.

Because it's not unexpected for S2J to take a game from Armada. It would have been unexpected for him to 3-0 him which is why the set was so hype. It's not unusual for him to take just one game considering he's a top player.

It was considered an accomplishment to take a single game off him and that is why he will always be the GOAT No amount of longevity from Mango or Hbox will change the fact that every tournament they can fall to a newcomer like Albert or Fizzwiggle

That wasn't exactly as "unexpected" as these five, because Zero was actually a top player at the time. Most of the plays in the video are either shown from relatively unknown players or people using lower tier characters.

Dire, Dire, Docs I disagree. He had M2K to practice with, but he still wasn't as good as you'd think he'd be after all that time spent with him. His MLG performance was a shining example of just how inexperienced he was going against the best players in the world within Melee. This is why I'd say his victory against Armada in a single game would be impressive considering Armada is amazing to say the least.
