Eric Bruntlett's unassisted triple play vs. the Mets was the most unusual game-ending play I've ever seen. Considering the Mets had the go-ahead run at the plate with (obviously) two on and no outs, AND that Bruntlett's miscues in the inning put the two runs on in the first place, it has all the elements of an improbable ending.

I don't know how far back you were looking for this video, but number 1 should be Game 3 of the 1997 ALCS between the Indians and Orioles. Indians are the home team with a runner on third (Marquis Grissom) and Omar Vizquel up at bat. They try to execute the suicide squeeze, but Omar appears to foul it behind him off the catcher and the ball skips away. The catcher slowly walks over to grab the ball, not realizing Omar completely missed it, as Grissom, who was already running on the pitch because of the squeeze, steals home. Ball game.

#5 isn't unusual. #4 is, not many "balk offs" #3 is, but only because 2 runs scored. #2 is, and perhaps the most unusual, very few runs scored on interference. #1 only because it was his last at bat. But since you don't have any defensive endings, your video is a fail.

Even an Oriole fan I admit that I think the Orioles fixed the bottom of the 9th of Jeter's final home game. That pitch was weak and the throw was way off the mark. Plus Buck admitted they didn't care Derek won the game for the Yankees. Baltimore already won the division title.

In all of MLB history, only 2 games have ended on an unassisted triple play. Thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of games have ended on walkoff singles. So of course, you managed to include Derek Jeter's walkoff hit, but not Eric Bruntlett's unassisted triple play to end the game in 2009. For people who are wondering what the actual #1 must unusual game ending is, here you go: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DviV7CYrc-E.html

I was umpiring a 10 year old district championship game about a week ago and the final play was pretty interesting. away team batting in the last inning, down by 1 with 2 outs. kid hits a ground ball to 2nd and they throw over to first but the first baseman clearly pulls his foot off the bag, and my base umpire makes the safe call. defense didnt realize the call was made and started celebrating. the runner keeps running, and one player on defense realizes whats going on, picks up the ball and its now a footrace to 3rd base. kid slides into the bag, fielder dives and tags him, i immediately call out, but the ball pops out of his glove so i reverse my call to safe right away. defense is going back to their positions when my base umpire comes over to me, says the runner slid headfirst. i realize, yeah he did so we call him out, because thats a rule in little league, ending the game.

Geez, this list is horrible. The only one that belongs is #2 - Allen Craig IN THE WORLD SERIES. Better than all of these except maybe the Craig play: The REAL most unusual ending was a KC at White Sox game in 2017 where a single was A WALK-OFF WIN FOR THE TEAM IN THE FIELD. With a 1-run lead and 1 out, and a man on second, there was a ground single to right . Avisail Garcia charged it and stumbled and then threw to the plate. The runner was called OUT, and the batter rounded 1st and tried to advance to 2nd. HE was out, too - a double play. 9-2-3-6. To add to all THAT, BOTH plays were close plays and were reviewed. Both were out. For two minutes, no one knew who had won the game - but either way, it depended on the replay official.

@stevegarcia3731
@stevegarcia3731 6 лет назад
You don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. The moment the interference happened at 3rd and the runner (Craig) made ANY attempt to go home, the play was over. Dead ball. The umps MUST THEN DIRECT the runner to go home, EVEN IF he had started home and then went back to 3rd. Did you even notice that the home plate ump made NO CALL on the tag at home? Why not? Because HE MADE THE INTERFERENCE CALL on the play at 3rd instead. He motioned SAFE - as he should have - but immediately pointed to 3rd. Thus, THERE WAS NO PLAY AT THE PLATE. The 3rd baseman DID lift his leg, which made it intentional. But intentional is not part of the call. The interference happened when Craig tried to go home but was tangled up with the 3rd baseman. Accidental or intentional, it was interference. Intent had nothing to do with it. The real irony is that at that moment in time, Allen Craig was a genuine RBI star on that Cardinals team that made it to the WS, but that play was the end of his stardom. He never was worth a SHIT after that. Nobody ever knew why his level of performance nosedived like it did the following year. And he never produced like that again.
