Dacob your knowledge on Gabriel Chanel is astounding and very admirable. So refreshing to see a man have so much respect and admiration for a self made woman and her life’s work. You are getting me so much more interested in Chanel’s life and her work now. I was never into tweed but after hearing your story at the end of this video, I want a Chanel tweed jacket and matching tweed handbag, as homage to the great lady herself!!! 🙏 🙇🏻♀️
Hi Dacob! I rarely comment on anything but after discovering your channel and watching your videos I simply have to! I love your content and your personality! ❤️ I am a cancer star sign too and also love the Autumn! 🍁 I admired Chanel for many years, read many books including some you mention here, and recently purchased my first Chanel bag (a vintage square mini flap from 1989 the year I was born) after saving up for years. I adore it and treasure it. Anyway I just had to say this as I think the similarities between us are too crazy not to! 😊 Thanks again for your content and big love from Wales! 👋🏻 🏴 😊 xx
Thank you Rachel and happy birthday period to you too my dear 😊😆🌈 Wishing you a lot of fun times with your CHANEL bag! CHANEL bags are always the best companions 😊
How spooky I was just reading Justine's book today, great video Dacob.ahhhh what I wouldn't do to spend some time in 31 Rue Cambon 😍😍😍. How you spoke about Coco at the end, brought me to tears, what a legend and how sad that she felt like that in her last days. Now when I use her perfume,I will have a different kind of respect for her.🥰🥰
Great video Dacob. Thank you for sharing. I have read 3 of the books you mention and still pick them up and reread them in my quiet time. What a life of emotional struggle she did have. My heart really aches when I thinking her sometimes think more people than we would think dread that infamous “Sunday” when we actually slow down and are forced to look into the mirror of our lives.
Thank you for the recommendations Dacob. This is so timely, I was thinking about buying a biography about Gabriel Chanel. I will read all 5 books! Can you please also recommend a good coffee table book on Chanel? TIA 💗
Such a strong, creative woman … to be truly alone, with the loves of your life gone … the strength Coco found in her work cannot be overestimated. Her work still provides strength to women under duress, whether a dress or a piece of jewellery or skincare. Yes, resilience! Creating, the strength of the creative! It taps us into the strength of the feminine. I adore her work, her life, and the woman herself - ever since 1992 and a deep trauma of my own. A fellow Chanel lover here Jacob ! It is a joy to hear you talk 😊
Dacob this video is absolutely beautiful 🖤 I am almost in tears with love for Coco whilst listening to you talk about her. Thanks for reviewing all of the books for us all and selecting the best ones - and each is unique in it’s own way. You talking about her continuously creating to take away the pain, which gives great insight to her mind as an artist and also about the reasons behind her designs. Thanks for this, much food for thought xxxx
Thank you for these suggestions ❤️ I ordered the Picardie and the Morand books. Can’t wait to get them and devour them. Coco and I have the same birthday (but 99 years apart) so naturally I feel this connection to her.
Thank you for the recommendations. May I ask if you also have read/bought some books that were released in French (only)? Just as collector’s piece. (I have no book in particular in mind)
Yes I have. You can check my other video on my chanel book collection here on my channel. You can see most of them in that video, including in French ;)
@@SuperDacob ive watched it. The one from 2019. I haven’t seen a book in French, unless I missed it because I was focusing on your speech. 😅 I saw the ones in German, Italian though.
@@SuperDacob oh it’s “Les bijoux”... the title is not very visible on the cover hence why I had not seen it... and probably the n°5 parfum one in German that you say you have in 4 different languages. How amazing to be able to speak/read 7 languages.
Hi Jamel! I just recently became a subscriber. I love your videos and find them to be very honest and informative; fun too! I did watch one of your older video when you has short blonde hair and i have to ask why not again? You look beautiful with that short blonde hair. Although you still are handsome regardless.
Just catching up with your fabulous videos, Dacob, so this is a bit late. Alicia Drake’s _Beautiful Fall_ is a double biography of Lagerfeld and Yves Saint-Laurent-very thorough and well-researched (imho)-and informative on KL. It does fall back into cliches about the Yves-as-Sensitive -Genius versus KL-as-Workhorse binary, but still, solid.
