I think it’s because Shai didn’t break out until last season and people before then weren’t that familar with who he was so they assume he is like ANT’s age.
@@cllyuniversenot even, Luka was a known commodity from the time he was like 15 in the European league. Luka had already BEEN dominating pro basketball before he even got to the NBA.
Just like Luka, Tatum is being punished for being good for too long, although Luka is a better player no doubt, Tatum is a monster himself. And maybe he is one of those players who will learn with experience to be great and win the ultimate prize. Lebron was like that in a way, although LeBron is a different type of animal.
Jason, thanks for actually sticking up for Tatum. Everytime you have those other two bozos on I find it hysterical. Tatum is only leading the celtics in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks this postseason - “but hE coUld NeVER do WhAt JaLen BRUnsON is DoIng” 🤡
Y’all are evaluating Luka without any mention of him playing on a sprained knee and ankle? He’s the only one who’s played through injuries that other players like Spida (for example) have sat through
Facing the toughest defender on both team and being doubled constantly. Somebody got me when Edward faced a real team barely shows against him never just dissuade him from driving.
do people just forget when tatum had a worse team (that somehow has been getting called superteams with overseas players in the playoff rotation) that he was dropping 50 and near 50 point games in the playoffs/play in and period ? it's like selective memory because it doesn't fit the agenda but he's MORE than capable of carrying a mid team or an offensive load like these other guys. tatum simply shouldn't have to go for 50-60 with this roster and he gets blamed for it when if he was in luka, sga, brunson or ant's shoes he'd easily average 32+ as he averaged 30 with more mouths to feed on offense than them last year. tj had a higher usage rate than tatum in the playoffs as a backup pg tatum would easily score more if he had to jack and dominate the ball to be effective like those guys. big numbers are cool but tatum has easily been the second most overall impactful player besides jokic to me this playoffs
Luka is the foundation of that team. No amount pf stats can amount for Luka being responsible this team is even relevant. In this West, without Luka, they are maybe the worst team in the conference. So some perspective is needed here.
For sure. The only difference right now is Luka has just built his first REAL team AND he is entering his prime years. In 5 years we eill be talking about a (multiple) champion and mvp of this league and the best player in the world. Wemby is nice, but Luka goes first.
@blicleak1101 I can't lie. Wemby scares me. I honestly thought he would have a rough couple years because of how skinny he is. He's going to be ridiculous next year. If they get him any kind of help, look out, it's going to be a battle for multiple years.
I’d put Brunson over SGA, everybody knew the thunder were beating the pelicans but the 76ers was still a hard out and Brunson has been playing even more consistent than SGA which isn’t a knock on SGA, but the Knicks have had two tough series the thunder finally got to there first tough one.
His fav player Lebron and he always talks about how his fav type of players that are valuable are bully ball forwards or guards like Giannis, Jokic, ANT, Lebron, AD etc.
This video was really fun to watch. Great points made by everyone, I like how each of you had a bit of a different take on their top 5 which gave us an interesting and insightful discussion on the players. Luka has had less pressure than ANT. If it werent for Kyrie saving them, Mavs would be in cancun right now. I can't put Luka at 2 for that reason. ANT is carrying a team with a no.2 who seems to be worse than any of top 4 teams. ANT has had to deal with the most amount of pressure just a bit above SGA in terms of performing. if these guys have 1 poor game they lose. They are carrying their teams. Also, I would argue against "trust" being a downside when it comes to Ant as his off and on court display has been nothing short of incredible. he knows what to say, how to say, how to get his team motivated.
Carson and Carlson really do not make much sense sometimes. And what is with the NBA community? Weren’t we complaining today’s players have no guts to show toughness and grit in face of pain and adversity? And now when Luka is doing it, instead of rewarding it, we are punishing him. Everyone can see his legs are gone due to injuries, that caused a lot of frustration. To me the biggest and crucial adjustment was the psychological one Luka made not to indulge with the refs. This brought him clarity and additional energy right away. I was baffled with the lack of urgency on Mavs part on solving this issue! Don’t they have a psychologist ffs!? To me it is exactly opposite of what Carlton said. Luka’s baseline or basement is higher than any other non-Jokic player out there. He is a natural alpha on the court, a conductor. That’s not a teachable skill.
Hmm yeah I honestly am putting Brunson at number 2 for this postseason, love Edwards but he's a primary scorer, secondary facilitator, & secondary perimeter defender. Minnesota has roles filled incredibly well. Weaker competition of course but the extent of his offensive burden + how often he's targeted on the other end (because he's limited there, of course, but they've still been winning enough to be in position to make the ecf). Tatum is similar in this sense to Edwards except with less impressive numbers against weaker comp. Shai has been great, I probably go with him at 3 although Luka has been more impressive on the glass and as a playmaker. Feels crazy to say he or Edwards is my 4th guy but I'm leaning Edwards there and Luka gets the edge for the 5th spot because they've played real teams and he's probably been more impactful than Tatum despite his injury.
I like your show and I watch them regularly. I must say though, the "vacuum" expanded a lot as the show went on. It went from who has been playing the best so far, to this guy has a higher ceiling, this guy isn't playing well but if he wasn't hurt... etc. I just thought you would stick to your own parameters instead of peppering your choices with your own biases. it just takes away from the title of your video. Will keep watching though.
@@M3333C scoring. carrying his team. level of difficulty. he’s been more clutch. he doesn’t have the luxury of a Kyrie taking over and carrying games while he shits the bed (referencing the clippers series). man has been dropping 40 every other game and luka fans are debating if he’s been as good as brunson when he’s stunk the joint up multiple times in this playoffs already.
How do you feel about your comment after no one agrees with you. Luka is the 2nd best right now. That's really not up for debate. He's beating the Thunder while having multiple injuries. The mavs said if this was the regular season they would sit him for 2 weeks at minimum.
“It’s been more bad than good….” I can definitely see how 27/9/9 would be considered bad by NBA standards. Meanwhile Ant is at 29.7/4.7/5.6 so he definitely is showing how great he is….🙄 BTW, SGA is at 29.5/8/6 so remind me how Ant is better?
@@aashray536 efficiency is down as he’s been double teamed by their best defender, and is playing on a sprained knee. Definitely playing below his standards, explain how that is more bad than good? Also, what exactly is the efficiency standards for rebounds and assists?
@@reginaldharris9650 what does wrong numbers have to do blowouts? Close or a blowout, the individual numbers are important to the story see how someone’s playing when things are going well or badly when they’re struggling in one aspect again, how are they doing the others?
@@SDesWriter I mean u actually gotta watch games and not stay watch. In the scope of the playoffs ant is definitely playing better ball than Luka and sga. They have two blowout wins in the nugget series alone where he didn’t play the last 8 minutes of the game. They also got blown out and starters pulled. Raw per game numbers don’t tell full story especially with Luka getting hunted horribly.
the issue with guessing is you will only pick the "star players" not ones who have actually played the best during playoffs . top 5 in order is Antony Edwards , Jokic , miles tuner , SGA Halliburton . and people asking where Brunson is , him being on the floor means his team concedes 1.4 more points per 100 possessions , the number adjusted for quality on the floor on both teams . which drops him all the way to 12 . and I know people don't care about defence but 1.4 points lost on defence is equal to 1.4 scored to me . tatum is 23rd . derrick white is 7th. luka 6th +3.2 offense and defense +1.1. that is a huge jump on defence for him
This is an absurd take. Agreed Murray is key but saying that makes jokic overrated is bonkers. What superstar has won without other all stars or all timers? If jokic wins he’ll be more of an exception to this which makes him greater not worse
Luka being second best in his own team? They are not winning a single game without him on a bad wheel and they are one step from finals. Time to ask those acnee infested kids their weak and uniformed opinions
I think 🐜 man is better than Jayson Tatum, but I'm kind of biased against Tatum. I think he gets to much praise because that team is so good around him. Celtics easily have the deepest team in the nba and they play in the weak ass east. I'm not saying he's a bad player by any stretch of imagination. I just don't think he's as good as people want to say because his team wins a lot.
Game 1 he shot more freethrows than the entire Dallas Mavericks team. It's like they forgot they were going to let the players play and not call weak ass calls every position except when SGA got the ball.
IK Luka is injured, but let’s not act like SGA hasn’t outplayed him for 4/5 games in the series. And with that context, it’s pretty hard to say he’s better - Ant is playing better than him too.
I swear Luka has been the most meatrode player in the NBA since the trade deadline. He’s in Cancun RN if PJ Washington didn’t drop back to back 30 bombs.
@@ThunderPhantLuka literally got blamed for most of the mavs losses while he’s playing on a sprained knee. Shai drives and either runs into a defender and gets free throws or the defender backs off and he shoot’s a wide open shot and is glazed about how consistent he is. Plus shai isn’t near the play maker Luka is normally. Sure shai might have played better but let’s not act like shai is actually better by any means
No Luka is not above Ant and Shai based on the playoffs. Kill all that bs with Luka. He is overrated at this point. He’s been hobbled but he hasn’t earned a top two title .
JALEN BRUNSON has outplayed EVERYONE, and it ain't even close. Luka's been outplayed by Kyrie and almost outplayed by PJ Washington of all people. Just because someone has the ball in their hands and shoots a lot does not make them the best or most valuable. That goes for SGA as much as Luka. Yall are so FOS it's not even funny. I bet you were saying the same silliness last year and ignoring Jimmy Buckets.
Brunson’s usage has been higher than Luka’s this postseason…he’s had the ball in his hands more than anybody and he’s had weaker competition in the East lol
Also no way jayson tatum is on this list like stop it don’t even mention it they have played zero competition and that team is stacked they will make the finals then we can see how he plays but in no world this post season I’m picking him over brunson
Well - this can't be ignored anymore. Nuggets franchise - Ownership and the Front Office FAILED Jokic and the Nuggets fanbase. Cheapness and Incompetence. Nuggets roster doesn't have a 2nd star. Nuggets roster doesn't have an all-star aside from Jokic. Nuggets roster doesn't have a decent role player aside from KCP and AG. Nuggets roster doesn't have an NBA level bench. Jamal Murray is the WORST player in Nuggets 1st string. Period. Jokic alone cannot plug/fix all those gaping HOLES. It's almost sad watching Jokic trying whole season and especially now in the playoffs. It's humiliating and embarrassing. I can only guess how Jokic feels - but I would be in a very dark place watching talent around me and wanting to win. In a very dark place.
