As someone born and raised in NY, lived there for almost 25 years and would be the first to rag on the city, this channel somehow makes me excited to come back and explore all over again
Agreed. But I'd also grab a group of friends, fly with them, and visit places like Maiella, Serendipity 3, DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections, dozens of bakeries, and Schwartz's Deli.😂
A friend just sent us a gift certificate for Sarges deli last week. I’ve been in the hospital at NYP and I asked for some support for my wife. He said “that was the best pastrami I’ve ever had.“ So it was great to see that you endorsed it! Since I’m out at the hospital now, I think we’re gonna use that GC, real soon!
Pizza Park got me through a stay at MSK during the height of Covid--never even went into the place, but my wife could bring me a slice during the very limited visiting hours in those days (after I was cleared for food)
That is the pizza of my dreams, has been since you first featured it. The filming of it today was so good, it was like I could reach out & snag a slice.🍕 Thanks Jon.
That bagel you begin with looked delicious, and I'm Polish, so it has my approval. That pastrami also looked delicious. Everything looks good. You have good taste.
I can vouch for Absolute Bagels. I was a cop in the area and we were always there. The everything bagels especially when hot are the best. The coffee is great too,has a mocha undertone. Billy’s hot dogs are great too. I remember the cart well.
That pizza looks amazing. Definitely gonna hit that spot up. I have fond memories of Sarges, always used to go late with an ex and their sandwiches never failed us.
Hi! I was in NYC last summer and went to the Frances Tauvern in Lower Manhattan: I think that place deserves a visit, not only for the food which is really good but also for the history that is attached to the place. Not only is it the oldest civil building in Manhattan, but it used to be visited by important personalities of the Revolutionary era like George Washington, who did his farewell speech to the army right there! It's definitely worth checking out if you are a history buff like me
8:34 what a chance to spot a fellow Estonian! Rumour has it that there’s an Estonian in every single harbour city and I start to believe that this is true! 🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪
Thank you for all the recommendations. Moved over to NYC 2 years ago, still religiously watching your videos for new ideas. Thank you and congrats for the new baby!
Yes, I would also recommend Dr. Brown’s Cel-Rey to go with any pastrami sandwich. The taste by itself may seem weird at first, so take a bite of the sandwich first and then sip the Cel-Rey.
Went to Billy's Hotdog stand with my 11 year old today for her first NY Hotdog experience. Simply amazing! Told him he came recommended and he even threw in a free snapple for my daughter. Thanks for the recommendation!
I really love Eileen, I just randomly found it while staying over the weekend in Tribeca. Since then I have returned quite some times. Morning run by the Hudson and a cheesecake after lunch has been one of my favorites.
Thanks so much for sharing that, Jon! I visited Billy earlier this week, found him through your video and he is just an amazing person. Great hot dog, very nice talk, and when I offered some tips, he just gave me a pretzel. Thanks for that, man! Everyone, pay a visit to Billy. In a city full of scammers, Billy is a real deal. :)
0:59 finally I found someone with the opposite effect to mine 😂, the moment I go into an empty store people suddenly start to form a line for some reason.
I am so SUPER HAPPY I found your channel today. And, have been binge watching. They are CRAZY FUN to watch and I am truly learning bout so many FAB places/spots to try when in the City. My mouth was watering mad watching them. Seriously!! Sad to say, I do not visit the City at all like I should, BUT, watching your channel has inspired me to get up, get over there and get to it. I am absolutely missing out. New subbie for sure!! Arlene
I can buy Sabretts hot dogs in any of the stores near where I live. They really do taste better. My go to midnight treat, hot dog sauerkraut cooked 1 minute in the microwave, bun ready with deli mustard and a bit of pickle relish and my tummy is happy.
Fun fact: On this past season of The Bachelor, one of the contestants that made it to the hometown date episode was a Jewish girl from NYC and on their date she took him to Sarge's! He's a non-Jew from Texas and tried a tongue sandwich and gefilte fish for the first time and (imo) pretended to like it 😂
Visiting NYC for the first time in June for a week and I’m watching a bunch of your videos. Sarge’s Deli is barely 2 blocks from the hotel we booked , exciting !
I tried bleeker street pizza yesterday by accident. I was planning on going to Johns of bleeker street but the line was too long and ended up stumbling at Bleeker street pizza. It was so good
You know everytime I go somewhere new I love trying the food staples and I still gone to NYC yet and when I got I’m telling you I’m gonna spend a full day trying foods
Hey Jon and #teamadriana. I just wanted to say I love your channel and content I could watch your videos all day long! Me and my wife can't wait for our trip to NYC and thanks to you it will be a great experience. Keep up the hard work!! Get well soon Ben the camera man
All the iconic NYC specialities looks so delicious, you make me hungry my goodness I'am gonna take all the addresses you gave us, next time I'll try them. Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Thanks for your videos Jon. You really helped with my first ever visit to NYC in march 👍 basically planned the whole trip from your videos. I love street food so i tried many of the foods you recommended. It was mostly quite good but nothing blew me away. The bagels were probably the best but the hot dogs were an abomination 😅🤢 Our favourite place to eat was probably little spain. Really appreciate your work ❤
Wow! Eileen's is still there... I remember when they first opened. I grew up three blocks from there on Mulberry. Remembering we all thought that their Cheesecake was really good, but we were all really into Junior's back then... I agree, always liked Sarge's over Katz's.
Top 5 NYC Foods that are very EXPENSIVE.. BTW, Montreal has the best bagels(fairmount bagel & st-viateur bagel) Hot- dogs, pizza, smoked meat. Cheesecake? Its a dessert, shouldn't be considered as food. Capeesh!
Going to NYC on Sunday Trying to sort out my holiday for Sunday to Thursday rewatching your vids take it times Square is just a tourist trap booked Washington Heights trying best tings 2 do and Eat (Pizza :P)
Billy is right in front of my high school. I've never had his hot dog because I keep kosher, but he is the fucking man. For years he's been an icon in our school, like the dude has been in our yearbook I'm pretty sure. Years ago he had no internet fame but he had plenty of CGPS fame.
It’s crazy how these food reviews makes places go viral. I live on the upper west side and Billies and Absolute bagels are just regular spots to us lol. Billies is a regular hot dog stand .
I watched all your videos before my first trip to NYC in August 2021 and it helped so much! Now planning my next trip for fall 2023 hoping to visit central park when the leaves change color. :) Can't wait to try a Billy's NY Hot dog.
LMFAO, saw you walking the baby with the wife downtown Bk... Like a fool, yelled out the car window "BE instead of HERE" The Barr. Oh well, hope that made your day.
Hey u ever have cristinas deli and grill in queens off 150th street, i had it twice and its next level. Theres a deli literally next door that has similar stuff but my friend insisted we go to this one. I trusted her cause she lived next door
Thank you Jon!! I'm hoping to come out there next summer so all these places are already on my list thanks to you! So excited for the Nonna Maria🤤 Good stuff my friend!
i have just got back from new york, i tried a couple of your suggestions, mei lai wah for a pork bun, johns of bleekerstreet, los tacos no1, levian bakery and dominique ansel bakery, they were all amazing!
I came to NY in June last year and binge watched Jon's channel. It basically structured my whole visit. I did Billy's hotdog cart, Bleecker St Pizza and went to so many of the hidden gems that are off the tourist path. Keep up the good work Jon because I am already planning my next trip!!
@@yoitsmarkson sorry, didn't even realise this was here! This was what I did: Friday 10th June Food tour - 10:30am Saturday 11th Central Park & Museum? Sunday 12th Wander aimlessly Monday 13th 9/11 Memorial and tour - 11am & One world trade centre observation deck, Comedy Cellar Tuesday 14th Highline & Chelsea Market then Broadway show Wednesday 15th Bronx zoo Thursday 16th Movie bus tour - 11am Friends Tour - 4pm Friday 17th Check out 11am I used Jon's channel for a lot of food recommendations and just did them on the fly as I was out and about. The food tour I did was from a guy called Nice Guy Tours on Tripadvisor. He was great and took us to a few of the spots than Jon had recommended too
Hi Here de Barr love your channel. I have been to NYC in 1998. I was on the top floor of the World Trade Center that is now Ground Zero. I live in Winnipeg, Canada. I'd definitely try the pizza, the hotdog and the pastrami sandwich. You forgot about Halal Guys, Nathan's hotdog and the Coney Island hotdog.
I recently watched a video where the host went to Bleeker Str and did a currency conversion. He had a medium pizza and a pint of beer, and it cost the equivalent to over £65. That is more than my weekly grocery shop here in the UK! I'm not sure I would pay that for anything regardless how good its supposed to be
In NYC, not seeing a tourist in line and few items on the menu is a very good sign because it’s the few things they do well. Tourists ruined Manhattan eateries and now they doing it to Brooklyn.
Montreal, born and raised, over here. The best bagel is here, Fairmount street. Don’t be bullied into thinking that St-Viateur’s one is best… although 2/3 of tastebudless people find the latest to be the better one. I beg to differ… since the 90’s, when Montreal was the Shit.
Combining the quality + the guys story I think it's worth the trip for visitors to NYC. Esp if they're going to be in Central Park in that area at all.
Fyi: the proper (and only way) to order a bagel is to walk in and ask "what's hot/what just came out", THATS the bagel you're getting. Put whatever you want on it, but thats the way. Finally, NEVER toast a bagel, it's simply not meant to be eaten that way.
