Dude watt is in a league of his own haha to put him on the list would put all others to shame imo and he isn't a pick player (I know this short only had them in it) but there's so many lines of his, that it couldn't all fit in 60 seconds

I think Fat Mike is one of the most underrated bassists. That dude has written some epic bass lines and amazing songs. And he sings lead vocals while doing it.
You’re absolutely right. Mike’s “up-stroke triplet” technique is so unique that it’s instantly recognizable as his playing. Not only that, but his lyrics are the wittiest lyrics ever! He’s so under-rated so I try and sing his praises any chance I get. Glad to see I’m not alone

@@volutedmetal8543sassafras roots too also has a very cool riff. I really like earlier green day because mike dirnt almost has the role of a lead guitar and billie is mostly just playing powerchords
@@phipschi4255 i agree, the post-John Kiffmeyer, pre-American Idiot (for the most part) stuff is a VERY very 'lead bass' stacked set of songs. Insomniac has to be one of the coolest albums for just bass alone
@@bassofd00m if it's not punk, it shouldn't have punk in the name. Pop-punk is punk with more melodic sensibilities. Honestly The Ramones would fit that description quite a bit...
JJ every time for me. The sound was so iconic. That coupled with keys (of all things, wtf) made the Stranglers’ punk sound. Always felt sorry for JJ’s basses though. That’s a lot of battering to take.

Dude, I love ya Danny, but you broke my heart with this one homie! How could you not include Fat Mike of NOFX!? He’s literally known for mastering “up-stroke triplets” in such a unique way that they’re damn near exclusive to him. (See Suits and Ladders and The Decline for reference).
Matt Freeman for me all day long. I love that on the surface Rancid have this aggression and rage and holding it all down is the joyful, bouncy lines of Freeman. ❤❤❤❤
