The most insane thing to me is how Kasparov saw that entire line and knew it was winning. And his opponent was very good as well, he saw all the traps pretty much, but just couldn't stop it.

Funnily enough, Stockfish 16 saw the move Rxd4 as an innacuracy from white (-0.91 with best play) with the best move instead being Nc6 (-0.39 with best play). After Rxd4, Black has a long line where Black ends up trading a lot of material and ending up in a slightly better position. An insane brilliancy played by Kasparov that us humans cannot even perceive the depth of, and Stockfish pulls up like "Bro you are losing". Engines are such scumbags lol.

In the playground it was known as the "shiny pokemon cards" game.

The rook is the easiest to sacrifice because it's kinda a middle man; you can't sac your queen cuz you don't have another, not to mention it's the most powerful, the rook being the second most and having an extra that can slide in its place makes it the perfect sacrifice

Two of favourites that weren't mentioned are: Steinitz vs von Bardeleben 1895 - the white rook does a little dance where is can be taken in two different ways on each move, and Fischer vs Benko 1963 - the game is often called "Rook, Line and Sinker"
