Thank you, John, for sharing that. I have a heap of stabiliser's that I collected over the 30 years of digitising and embroidery, but sometimes you forget what they are for.

Thank you for you explanation of stabilisers. What is the best stabiliser for bath towels? I recently embroidered four towels using tear-away, hoping that over time, the little bits of stabiliser on the back will disintegrate in the washing machine. Should I have used wash-away instead? I use a lot of wash-away for mug rugs, coasters Christmas decorations etc. I did use a knockdown stitch around my design on the towels and matching bobbin threads. Regards, Julie from Australia

Would love a better understanding of when you would use a cutaway stabilizer. Just starting out, but i have never used any of the cutaway stabilizer that i have in my stash...

Try it out on your next stretchy fabric and see the difference between tearaway!

Would love to know how far away from a design to cut cutaway?
@EmbroideryLegacy

Close to the design without cutting the threads or the fabric 😉💙

Is tearaway too light weight to use on a sweatshirt instead of cutaway? Why not use tearaway in that case and on a golf shirt?

Unfortunately the fabric is too stretchy, if you'd like the embroidery to keep stable forever it's best to stick to no-show mesh!
