Donkey Kong Ah yes. Simply putting your palm on the strings is probably the most difficult guitar technique. Only people who've been playing for decades have mastered it.
+Ryan Kinney funny how you all guys here know what palm mute is and assume that I don't know what it is or how to do it, but none of you is capable of notice that there's palm mute in each one of the riff I played with the exception of Revolution is my name, it's missing there because I forgot it while recording, that's it, it's a mistake and I admit it, I completely forgot it , there's no need to be so salty about it, everyone make mistakes, this time it was me, I'm sorry
Danilo Vicari I wasn't being salty towards you, the video was great. I was talking to the guy who said palm muting is hard. I meant no disrespect towards you.
After reading through some comments this quote came to mind. “Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves.” ― Brendan Behan For the ones who never pick up a book, an eunuch is a man whose been castrated.
Oh yeah, I see what you mean... How dare people not have the same exact opinions and mindset as you! Everyone should like this video and no one is allowed to dislike it.

Blood and Thunder is hands down THE fucking D standard riff, or literally any other Mastodon song. Was gonna be salty as fuck if no mastodon was in there.
I love Mastodon, but I don't understand why Mastodon fans feel like the Blood and Thunder riff is the greatest thing ever produced by metal. I mean, it's good, but there were a million riffs in metal that sounded just like it before it came out and after it came out.
I only watched this video to complain if this song wasn't on here. And as for the haters, I concede it is not even close to their best song but for a lot of mastofans, myself included, this was the song that got us hooked and it still holds a special place in our hearts :D

If you listen you hear him palm muting a lot. There are different ways to palm mute. He obviously is a hard rock guitarist rather than a heavy metal guy.
do not ever try to bend a neck on gibson. never. the neck joint is not as hard as on fenders, my friend destroyed his guitar this way. and yeah, palm muting. and try to do something with eq, i ll sound much better if you have diferent eq in different songs
I just saw a video with top 10 D standard with no Motley Crue!? WT!! 99% of Motley is D standard how could you have that top 10 with no Crue? You did a good job.
No hate or anything. But you gotta get some chugs in there. It's not the same unless you put some *stank* on it. That's what makes the riffs what they are.
If you're still open to finding a gauge to use for D Standard and also want one that works well with E Standard I'd recommend 10-52 gauge like Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms (I use that on my strat in E Standard, Eb & D Standard)
I mixed a set across my D strat and my C# strat! On the C# I have power slinky on treble (11 guage) and beefy bottom low strings (54 guage). On the D is the power slinky lows (48 guage) and skinny tops (10 guage). Taken from skinny top beefy bottom pack and power slinky packs. I like the mix across each!
I really enjoy this but I don't get why you won't palm mute on a lot of these riffs. You're clearly a capable guitarist so obviously it's not a skill thing. I don't mean to sound overly critical I'm just curious as to why you made that choice.
What do you mean by that? I'm familiar with all of these songs save the Motley Crue one and I'm not really hearing how he's rushing through everything. It all sounds fine save for the fact that he's made the curious decision not to palm mute in some places.
The comments section is the personification of the joke “How many guitarists does it take to screw in a lightbulb? 1 to actually do it, and 99 others to tell them they did it wrong.”
