As you don’t know, my knees and back have gotten worse. My hip is also starting to ache when I walk. I've been giving thought to no longer playing Pickleball. But it seems to me that (just as pickleball became an alternative to tennis for older people) there must be a variation of Pickleball for super senior or physically ailing people. Pickleball currently uses the two bounce and kitchen rules to slow the game down. However, it seems to me that as the game has gained popularity and the players are younger, the game has become faster and much more competitive. My current thoughts are for a return to the "fun Pickleball" game. The rule changes would be: 1) The ball must always bounce before being returned. 2) The ball cannot bounce in the kitchen. The always bounce rule would eliminate all volleys and the no kitchen bounce rule would tend to reduce having to rush towards the net. I think that these rule changes would again slow down the game for over 70s and make the game fun again. I'd appreciate your comments or additional suggestions for other rule changes to make Pickleball fun for super seniors.

Hello Art, Thanks for reaching out. Rule changes for certain groups might be helpful for ensuring that people can play regardless of their physical status. In our experience, the best "fun games" are played with people who have a similar skill set and physical ability. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hope you continue to enjoy this sport we all love!

Sorry but that doesn't make much sense to me. I'm 70 and I like the game the way it is. If you want a slower version, play a dinking game or a full-court game where hard drives and lobs aren't allowed.

We recommend getting a group of like minded people together and playing your own modified version that is fun for everyone.

I didn't see the fifth strategy. IMO, the rule that the service line is out on a serve makes no sense. All lines should be "in." Any idea of the rationale?

I believe you mean the kitchen service line, not the middle one. The kitchen service line is part of the kitchen. If you step on that line during play you commit a fault. It is not a service line. Any ball touching that line is in the kitchen.
