Although maybe the S500 over the Legacy in place of the Reverend. After all the Reverend has the tone circuit from the S500 only with out the extra switching options.
I'm no beginner (no expert either tho lol), and honestly I just bought one and after a couple simple mods, the pacifica is one of the best deals EVER! Seriously, shove some new pickups in there and get it a nice setup and I see no reason to upgrade to anything else unless your name is Ingwie Malmsteen.
I had a deluxe Pacifica years ago, can't remember the model name. Very nice guitar. I'm sorry that I parted with it. I am always on the lookout for another one.
I like how your description (below) lists 5 guitars that aren't in the video at all: 5: Steinberger Headless Guitars 4: Travis Bean Design 3: Valco Guitars 2: Ampeg Dan Armstrong 1: ODD Guitars American Grafitti
@@DevinAlden Floyds stay in tune better than any Fender trem system and compound radius fretboards play better than any 7.5, 9.5 or whatever Fender radius. I understand nostalgia, but Jacksons and the like are the superior playing instruments.
I recently picked up a '91 Levinson Blade RH4.. with the falcon bridge, VSC boost control, ebony fretboard, sperzel locking tuners, purple with gold hardware. It is by far the best Stratocaster I've ever played.. surpassing Fender Customs in reliability, playability, tone and versatility. In tone they surpass the suhrs too.. I urge you to check one out, either old or new
I agree G&L could have been mentioned... I'd love to see a "Top 5 Telecasters That Aren't Telecaster" video. BTW, I LOVE listening to the Guitar Nerds podcast! Thank you for it!!!
I think the reason so many came down on the Silversky is because PRS made it. PRS is now large enough that if it wants to come out with a 'new" guitar lineup for their company they can do so without copying someone else's design. Then again, Fender obviously tried to copy the Les Paul in it's alternate universe series Telecaster. Gibson even did a Jimi Hendrix Strat some years ago so I guess they have all gotten into the game of copying huh? lol.
Music Man was started by Leo Fender, also you honestly can't have a list like this without G&L's version, which was also started by Leo Fender and George Fullerton. That's where the G&L comes from. Now there's a nice thick slab of guitar nerdery for you.
Revelation make a range of "copies" that are of exceptional quality. I have owned five Fender basses, a Musicmaster, a Precision, and three Jazz basses. My 5 string Revelation Jazz Bass is, if anything, better than the Fenders - and around a quarter of the price! If Revelation make a Stratocaster, which I am sure they do, it would be well worth you checking it out. incidentally, they make a superb 12 string Jazzmaster, too!
Reverend yes ! Love the Ronin but the price is insane ! Music Man are vastly underrated in the USA imho, I'd have bought one by now but resale is awful which makes no sense to me? Cheers ! ( Your list in the description doesn't jive with this video)
Given Leo was involved in music man, isn’t the cutlass a strat? Had you mentioned G&L I’d say the same thing, that’s Leo’s actual design with a new name. To paraphrase Shakespeare would not a strat by any other name still sound as sweet?
The funny thing about the Cutlass is that its Genesis wasn't strat like at all. This is the Leo-era Music man Sabre guitar of which the Cutlass is aping its body shape. amsterdamguitarcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/DSC_9305.jpg And that's all the modern day Cutlass has in common with the Sabre. But the Sabre DOES have commonalities with a typical Seventies Fender strat: note that it has a wide headstock, with a bullet trussrod, it's finished in thick polyester and what do we see when we turn the guitar over? amsterdamguitarcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/DSC_9300.jpg Yup, it has a three bolt neck.
2 suggestions for this list (aka how did you leave these out!!) are the Ibanez AT100 & the James Tyler Studio Elite. Both are just ridiculously good. 👍👍
Tagima T635=350$ T535=250 Made in Argentina and they are better than or at least equal to a MIM start with a better bridge and one piece alder body(T635 ).Additionally it has 14" radius which is extremely more comfortable to play then any American str at (which are 7 or 9.5 inch radius
Ahh I find it mildly infuriating when people pronounce Gallagher the way it's spelled. The gh is just pronounced like a h. There's your fun fact for the day. Great video! Also that Cutlass looks awesome 😍
Most of these just look wrong to me. It may be just prejudice but I'm afraid the Silver Sky looks horrible to my eyes. However the Morning Star does look quite attractive with the novel take on the body sculpting and even the headstock seems to have the self-confidence to be what it is rather than an apologetic thing like the Suhr one. I've never played any of these guitars so it's possible that an encounter with one of them would completely convert me as it's much easier to like something when you find out how well it works. I have a very old Strat copy from Japan which I love as dearly as I love my Fender and it almost exactly copies the Fender design including the headstock.
Everyone hated the Silver Sky because they acted like they created the wheel and had a groundbreaking innovation for the guitar industry, when in reality they just slapped a PRS headstock on a Strat. At least when other companies copy them, they don’t market them as groundbreaking innovations.
Everyone knows it the silver sky was a signature edition right? PRS built a guitar to the artist's liking. They did a great job doing it. Every comment is they should have done this or should not have done that. Sure they are proud of the finished product. Why would you pay premium price for a product the company is not proud of?
The haters hating the silver sky is the reason why the old heads will never let Gibson evolve. Innovation is what improves music not staying inside a fuckin box
Strat vibrato arms are an engineering nightmare: a fulcrum of two (or six) screws? What someone needs to design is a tremolo arm using an eccentric cam system. Until then, I hard-tail my strats.
Reverend: nobody is viewing our non strat shaped body as a strat alike 😭. Guitar Nerds: It's not a stat alike. Reverend: 💰💰💰💰💵💵💵💵 It is a strat alike. Guitar Nerds: you're right, we see it now!
Putting a humbucker in a Strat fixes the weak point which is the ice pick bridge single coil with no tone control! The Reverend doesn't even look like a Strat! You missed the Vintage V6, a wonderful instrument at a reasonable price
platypuspracticus personally I’d pick a Tom Anderson over most Suhrs. There’s something about the look and feel that I can’t get enough of. I spent a couple hours in a music store called Brian’s guitars playing a few suhrs and T.A’s and yeah, the Tom Anderson Guardian Angel I played was the best guitar I’ve gotten my hands on
How the diddly did you miss out Stevie Ray Vaughn? And how the diddly did Gilmour 'butcher' his Strat? You and I sir are in major disagreement. Though not to worry, how about a cup of tea?
Gilmour used to put Kahler trems on his strats, which required extra routing. Some consider massive changes to the strat (especially if done to a vintage strat) as butchering. He wasn't referring to his playing.
@@lockedowng I can see how the context may be easily misread. I was trying to be funny angry and hoped it would be obvious as its really not that much of an issue, here I'm gonna edit it
I like the musicman which is the best company Leo ever started. fenders are hot garbage. I own a mayones 7 string baritone and feel like a fender strat cripple you. super strats like ibanez ones or schecters are pretty good tho.
Suhr fails to offer Daphne Blue as a finish, unacceptable! Sure, they have Surf Green...but it's not enough. With that being said, they are very well made guitars.
Isn’t it crazy that I didn’t like any of these strat copys. The only strat copy I like and like it better than a real fender strat is the schecter nick johnston strat
