I grew up being taught that Wyoming has two types of weather: Windy and really cold and windy.

Totally agree with your reply to Jordan from Wales. I live in the Scottish Highlands and fly fish a local loch which is a few minutes from my house. One thing that I have noticed is that is not normal to fish a dry fly but I fish it all the time and have more success on the dry than I do wet, in fact Im trying to learn the wet because in theory its how I should catch more fish. When I have met other anglers they always assume I am wet fly fishing, and when I tell them its a dry fly they show disbelief. I have only had one angler who I saw again and had tried, and had success on a dry fly. I have even arrived at the water when there has been another angler there who was using a wet fly and hadn't caught anything, only for me to setup just downstream and catch a fish on the first cast with a dry. For me its the best way to fly fish, there is nothing more exciting than the take of a fly from the surface. In my first full year of fishing, which was a couple of years ago now, I was out everyday and had about 40 fish throughout the year all on dry flies, which I was very pleased with as I was learning to fly fish and learning the water, which has a reputation for being difficult. You certainly don't need to see them rising in order to catch on a dry, the earliest I have caught on a dry is the end of March and conditions were not favourable, it was cold and breezy. For me the time of day and the location are the two most important criteria, my best time for catching is the hour or two before sunset and sometimes its a small window of opportunity during that period. I find it hard to resist the pleasure of a dry fly, especially when the the water is flat and there’s no wind. Just go for it Jordan, do your own thing.

The best way to entice trout to eat a dry fly, is to leave the Provo River and go to a real trout stream.😂😅
