I think many people forget how sexy black cars look in the rain. It’s like a clean bath, and because of there being typically no sunlight when it rains , black just kind of glows in the rain. Hard to describe but I always thought they looked doped in the rain.
Great tips. Thanks. One option is instead of a two bucket rinse what one can do is get one bucket full of car soap and put in 5 wash mittens. Never use them on the car again in that wash. At the end then rinse and wash for next time. Only use that one mit one time during the wash.
Thank you for the tips! I'm having a really hard time with my new black F150. The biggest problem is water spots. I got it ceramic coated, but the hood is pretty level to the ground, so when it rains, the water beads from the ceramic, but then it just sits on the hood and causes water spots. Everytime I wash the truck it seems like it rains within 48 hours, so I have to constantly wash it, or detail spray it to get the spots off. It's this never ending battle that I did not plan for, and it's driving me insane!
I have an all-black Nissan 370z that I had polished and ceramic coated and I agree with you that nothing looks better than when my car has been freshly washed in the early morning or evening light.

Great video, but I’d like to amend one point. DO NOT use a washing method where you put the wash mitt back into the soap bucket!! I only wash my or my clients’ cars with 6 separate wash mitts. I have a bucket of soapy solution with 6 mitts and a bucket that is empty. As I go around the car using a mitt, when I have used both sides of it on 2 panels it goes straight into the empty bucket. NEVER back into the soap. Conclusion? Even blind Freddy cans see that you will never introduce contaminants onto your paintwork from the wash bucket - NEVER. Try it and you’ll forget about the 2 bucket method you described.
I have been doing the exact same thing with 8 noodle micro fiber pads that I use to wash my car. I have a polished and coated all-black car and I have not instilled any swirls or scratches in my washing or drying in the 4 years I've been washing the car. I use a high-power leaf blower to dry the car for touchless drying.

Just got into a brand new 2021 black on black F150 STX package, oh boy is it sexy when it's clean! Almost forgot, ditch the 'two bucket' system and spray the wash mitt with the pressure washer or hose pressure to rinse it off in between soaping. 👍👍
Also remember to wash the back end of your car as the last thing you do (before you go to the buttom obviously) because the back end of your car is always the most dirty part of your car.
Yes I would say any ceramic coating is going to help reduce the risk of scratches and there are many different products on the market. I personally have been a big fan of optimum gloss coat, but generally any ceramic you get will give you some minor scratch resistant capabilities for minor scratches and swirls

@@carswithsonduren I'm subbed and bell-notified :-) Looking forward to seeing the update video. The R8 was the car that got me 'into' cars. I remember seeing one in downtown Calgary in 2009 - I didn't know a thing about cars at the time and I went home and Google image searched "red car with black side" until I found it. Didn't see Iron Man at the time or I would have known the name by then lol. The R8 started my love and appreciation for cars.
@@carswithsonduren that's rad! I've driven the R8 v8 model a few times already and had a blast. Was looking at an 09 this time last year but the numbers just weren't working for me. Lot's changed since then, so we'll see. Looking into an 08 at the moment, though who knows. Has to be the right deal. Watched your video on things to be aware of for maintenance. Ultimate dream car is the 458 Italia coupe - scratches every itch imaginable for me, though I can't wrap my head around $250k + CAD in my life just yet lol. $70-80k CAD I can swallow a bit easier :P
Nice welcome fellow torontonian! Yes ceramic will help prevent swirls and scratches but you should still obviously do everything you can to avoid it like two bucket method washing etc

Still two bucket method but if you need a quick wash you can simply pressure washer. Nice sounds great you're doing all the right things what color is your car btw ?!
Hey man, do you have any tips if your car is wrapped black? For example, can/should you still use a ceramic coating? Polishing doesn't really make sense, right?
You can't polish anything that is wrapped but yes you can put a ceramic over it but you will need to make sure that specific manufacturer supports ceramics for wrapped cars.
