I have all of these mods aside from the swing cases and this guy is 100% correct. These are some of the best and cheapest mods. I highly recommend all of them. Great video!
It may be because I wear workboots everyday in my truck, but I i think a good set of floormats (like Weathertech) are a must. Never saw a huge point to bedliners either. If anything, you use the bed to hell and spray a liner in before you sell/trade it in to cover up dents and scratches.
I totally agree about the floor mats. Ford actually threw in their version of a "All Weather " mat when I bought the truck. Front and rear, so I'm good there but totally see your point.
Glad you enjoyed the video found the Mods useful for your truck. The K&N filter did wonders for my MPG especially in ECO mode commuting to and from work. Thanks again!!!!
Mister, that is a beautiful truck. I just bought a real nice looking 01’ F150 manual trans with only 73k miles. I hope I can add some of these mods to my old truck. Thanks for the video! 😎
Thanks Cody I appreciate the nice comment about my truck. Hope you can get some of these mods to work on yours well. Post some of your truck pics up on my Facebook group Bangin Gears Garage, would love to see it.
The tri fold bed cover that I bought.was one of the biggest mistakes. I lost access to a third of the bed from the side with it just being at the standard height. I just gave it away that’s how much I hated it. Rol n lock is a lot more expensive $1,000 and up! But it’s a lot more secure. I see that there is one out there that is a tool box. With the roll top built in. That would be worth checking out. I would also go with the bed rug. Instead of a liner or spray. Your knees will thank you. The one thing that I would not be without for these newer taller trucks. Is a folding step that attaches to the tailgate. And then folds up against the tailgate.? Its removable with just two pins to slide something into the bed. But the plate stays screwed to the gate . Makes getting in and out so much easier. Less than $70.00
@@dustinsmartfishing it's not made to be constantly on and off. But when its completely folded it only restricts 8-10 inches of the front of the bed. Some might find that an issue, I never have. Fits my need perfectly.
I’m 15, just bought my first vehicle from my dad. It’s a Toyota Tundra 2004 that I paid 1 grand for. Got a summer job lol. I am now going insane over making it the best ride ever lmao. Maybe going to see if I can get like a 4-6” lift, idk if that would look tacky or not though, doing some research
I got front roll up windows tinted to match the factory 20% of the back doors; stainless steel iBoard side steps (rated up to 500 lbs); a very heavy duty 1/2" rubber bed mat; and quad-fold soft tonneau cover. I installed everything except the tint. All in about $650 out of pocket. 20% Xpell Tint/installation: $100; iBoard side steps: $200; Bed Mat: $100; Tonneau: $250.
The K&N filter is the worst thing you could do for your truck. It lets a lot more contaminants into your engine that will accelerate wear on your engine. The best filter you can get is the WixXP. Watch project farm’s testing on the filters.
Replacing the Air filter with the K&N, or any other manufacturer is purely aesthetic. The only thing you will gain is possibly a bit of turbo sound. They don't perform any better over the stock setup.
An increase in the volume of air detected by a MAF or MAP sensor will inevitably call for increased fuel delivery to maintain a proper air/fuel ratio. The “increase” in gas mileage can only come from not having a lead foot.
not having a lead foot doesn't increase efficiency. you simply accelerate faster. and if your speeding (which you shouldn't) then you simply get to your location faster... now if your spinning tires that can indeed reduce efficiency by a microscopic amount in the long run. cant say the same for tires.
@@notacreativehandle again assuming your not speeding there is no efficiency decrease-increase assuming your in the optimal speed-zone. if your in the last gear and the motors running higher rpm then yes that's less efficient but vehicles are designed to have steady efficiency hence why there's transmissions but again there designed to match speed requirements. what your saying is that it would be using less fuel going 1mph for lets say 5 miles vs 50 for 5 miles. if you look it up a vehicles peak efficiency in total can range from 60-70mph as most vehicles are designed to withstand highway use (in the US).
@@levistrnad2965 yeah well i drive 55 on the freeway instead of 70 my truck went from averaging 700 until empty to 850. Might not apply to all vehicles but it does for my 2015 f150.
Thanks TCW!!!! Glad you enjoyed the video. The links are in the video description for the MODS you don't have..... yet !!! Hope you subscribed as well.
my f-150 Lariat, I installed an air bag under the drivers seat..... yet retain the factory stock suspension. Just more proof car makers don't know what the hell they are doing . . . . . . .
Got so excited when he said one bout saving gas, then he said air filter I remembered I had a s-10 which are known for losing power and getting less air when a aftermarket filter is put on
I was wondering if I will buy F150 or a gmc sierra after this video definitely I will buy f150 , thanks sir please keep the hard work , I converted from muscle cars and now focusing on trucks because of my work
@@Technobug1 An electrical outlet for a house? Unfortunately I'm not an electrician and it really would fit the automotive theme of the channel. I'm sure there are other channel that can help you with this topic. Sorry I could be further help.
I did the same X crypto. From a Mustang to a F 150. Some people think im crazy for a huge change like that . I didnt think there were many mods for trucks like there are for muscle cars but I was wrong 😄 I almost forgot my truck was a F 150 lol. Frank showed the must haves , but there are many more mods big and small. Good luck and thanks for the video Frank 👍🏼
i like the video but i don't totally agree on the bed liners... i have a box liner that was put in from when i bought my truck.... and only after only 2 to 4 months... i had took it off to clean under it... and parts of my bed paint was worn right to the metal already...and my brother had his sprayed on and it all looked good till he was walking in the bed of his truck and his foot almost went through... he didn't even know that his box was rusting out from underneath.
Both are great points..... I never liked the plastic drop-in liners because water does get under them and if it doesn't fully drain out, it just lays there and if the paint is worn from the liner, could cause the bed to rust. As for your brothers experience..... undercoating from the factory or even an after-market spray would of prevented that or at least dramatically slowed the process way down. The new FORDs are aluminum ...no rust but it does create other oxidation issues is not properly coated.
what I'm not sure why it doesn't come standard is that tailgate damper, you would think without it you can dent your tailgate and it doesn't come standard from the manufacturer
Love your window tint Love your sprayed in bed in and agreed it Worth it spray in liners because I shopping for truck and bed 2020 are Shot up like it War zone . Air cleaner mode is Super Great Reviews and idea.. my local shop does it Right $165 for front window and about $130.00 for window shield tint - they do 100 windshield tint a week .. Like window visors but I am A American Flag and Pow Flag and Firefighter Flags person -+ thee window visors would Not able to put my American Flag or Other's on windows like done for 35 years . Positivity Got have a Bed cover ( folding Hard cover ) on my or All my trucks because like your truck thee Tool box or anything in bed is Hot Spots for Thieves without a cover on bed and Things Repeat Fly out your truck bed at 70 mph or 80 mph if you do Not have a cap or good bed cover on your truck bed !!!
No worries i respect your opinion. They are just mode that I use every day and feel the increase the benefits of owning, maintaining and the overall use of the truck.
Does anyone know if they make a rear seat release like that for the 07 Silverado? I would need the latching mechanism itself as the chevy has a loop like bracket that can only be removed by lifting the seat up and away. Chevy seats were not meant to be folded forward I guess? TIA
Oil filters arnt good either and it saves you like .2 mpg nothing noticeable or able to save you a day or two from the gas station😂 and it gives you like 1-2hp without a tune nothing noticeable
I wouldn’t fit a K&N Air Filter into any of my vehicles ever again, as they are not as effective as a standard factory air filter element I’ve ran numerous test over a 2 year period on gravel roads and in the outback of Australia. The K&N failed miserably. 🦘🇦🇺🦘
Yeah, K&Ns are garbage... Ohhh Wait... I better remove those on the Sprint Car, Silver Crown Car & Midget, the Baha Race Truck, ARCA Dirt Car & Modified... etc, etc, etc... Yulp, You never see them on roadrace bikes, dirt track motorcycles or a Harley on the street. Apparently someone is not following the directions on cleaning and preping the filter yet assumes their limited experience is the final decision. Nothing like building a $70,000 to $100,000 engine and relying on a paper filter. (Said NO Engine Builder EVER)
1) CAI only makes Intakes for GMC and Chevy trucks and 2) this video is about mods under the $200 mark. The CAI intakes are around $380. Definitely a great product made for specific trucks.... maybe in another video.
Yes, if the plywood fit between your wheelwells it still will. The cases are a good 5 inches above the floor and don't intrude into the bed past the wheel wells. Great question, hope i answered it for you.
I notice that your tailgate assist that all the components are black did you paint the plates? Clicking on the link you provided from Amazon it shows the Crome from Dee Zee. What company brand did you purchase. Thank you
I did use the Dee Zee and mine came all black. There is no black option in that link? The video is over a year old, the company might of change it up. After you hit the link, it you scroll to the bottom of the page you may see a few other options.
@@BanginGearsGarage thanks man that was quick! Yeah I've added it to "My Garage" on Amazon and the only results that come back are "Universal" dampers and they seems to meant for car hoods, rather than the tailgate.
@@BanginGearsGarage yeah this truck is always a pain to find parts for because it's basically a Japanese model just rebranded as a Chevy haha. Thanks so much for the effort though! Loved the rest of the video and ordered 2 or 3 new accessories already
Is there any proof about the 2 mpg increase? It sounds pretty substantial and almost not believable lol. I don’t mean this in a rude way just genuinely curious
Just going by the information sheet that come in the package and the MPG that I have gained on my own vehicle. That being said, how you drive has a lot to do with the gains. I don't have a heavy foot and use the truck as a daily commuter so I'm always in ECO mode on the highway . Is it a miracle product, no but where gas $ is today, every little bit helps.
Lol I've had the same one for 5 years and it's still in great condition. I say $1,200 well spent. I'm constantly throwing things in the bed of my truck. Been through hell as far as weather goes and my cargo is 100% dry
@@BanginGearsGarage 2014 F-150 5.0 with 2.5 lift level and 33 inch Toyo at3. I get an easy 17 on highway towing nothing 13-14 towing my 20 for fiberglass bass boat.
@@Anthony-ip8fp yes the Latch is all the way down towards the middle of the seat. You have to slide your arm between the seat and the rear window to unlatch.
I can totally understand that. The added security of a bed cover to hide the swing cases, even though they lock, is always a good idea to keep them out of the public eye.
@Bangin' Gears I love the idea of the swing out. I am just asking for trouble. I can't even cover my bed. Homeless be like "I KNOW THERE IS SH*T TO STEAL UNDER THERE" Sigh.. I need to move 😫
I think it's a matter of opinion. You have it and don't use it, while others may use it all the time and wonder why its not on the truck from the factory. Sorry you feel its a waste of YOUR money.
I mainly use the truck for towing. There are not things consistently in the bed, there have been bags of mulch, firewood, even an engine stuff like that. But I specifically needd the truck for towing the trailer long distance.
@@BanginGearsGarage I just got a used 2018 3.5 ecoboost. Came over from a Ram ecodiesel, I will take it on my first trip with the trailer this week. I know the mpgs won’t be as good but power should be there. How does it perform in hot weather? It will be over 100 degrees in some of the area I’m traveling through.
First thing you do is go spend $115 with tax and get your shit undercoated so the salt dont rust your shit. Had a 10yr old truck with 120k on it and did it once a yr and had zero rust not even rusty bolt
Those #1s aren't needed. They already are built in, plus you have that bracket in the way. #2, 😊😊😊. #5: Those are cool! The plastic liners are a pain as everything you put in the bed slides around. Spray-In is better. You forgot #8: The smoking hot lady chauffeur! LOL 😂😂😂
You’re not getting extra horse powers for switching air filter. 🤦 Stock filters are designed to get plenty more than engine needs with full open throttle.
